  1. Gobbler's Getaway is a Sally interactive dark ride (like Scooby Doo at KI.) Also it needs to be said, HW has a fantastic water park, full of the newest Proslide slides, including the tallest, longest dark family raft ride. I went to HW once before Thanksgiving was added and I would agree with those who thought that HW was not a full day park then, but add in Thanksgiving and you have a full day park. Also, the Voyage is amazing, this cant be said enough. The first coaster Ive ever ridden that has lived up to the hype it has on the internet. Legend and Raven are also top ten wood coasters in my book. I was there this past week and for $20 I bought a funnel cake, caramel apple, ice cream cone, and a fried chicken/mac and cheese/mashed potatoes/fried apples dinner. Great park, really great park.
  2. Have you been to the New Braunfels site too? Im interested in hearing a comparison between the two sister parks.
  3. My special rides: Yankee Cannonball Memorial Day 1986: My first ever ride on a coaster, at the age of 2 I do not really remember this but I do remember being extremely upset a year later when the park instituted a height requirement and I was unable to ride for a whole summer. Lockness Monster 1988, midnight: I got to ride the last train of the night, with my mom in the front row that night. This was also back when this ride had 3 train operations and was timed so that both loops had a train pass through them at the same time. The Beast 2001, night: After a rain storm and as our only ride we rode that year at KI (it was only a stop over point to get a Paramount pass for a trip to KD) we headed for a Beast marathon and upon arrival saw a maintenance truck out by the lift but the ride still running. Whatever was happening they had disabled all of the breaks on the ride (the breaks were literally lowered in the first shed) and we ended up going 2/3rds of the way up the 2nd lift before catching. Those 3 rides are why to this day this coaster is still my #1 wooden coaster. Magnum XL 200, Coastermaina 2008: 15 rides in a row, without getting off, 3 of which were with no trims, 'nough said.
  4. Well, except for my spring visits to KI, I usually hit the waterpark and/or the water rides which evens things out nicely and even though KI has fewer flats it has some of my favorites (Avatar, Scooby, Delerium, Shake Rattle and Roll, Drop Tower.) So its not a problem, then come fall of course there is all the haunts to do.
  5. I dont know how much I would like SFMM, it doesnt have that many flat rides anymore. When I go to a park I dont want to just ride coasters all day, CP has loads of flats including the best flat there is: Maxair.
  6. Im going for the first time since the Voyage was put in next Tuesday and can not wait.

    The Haunt

Ive gone for the past 2 years on a Friday and Saturday. Two years ago I went early on, last year was 2 weeks before Halloween. Both times on Friday the park was pretty empty and I was able to do all the haunts and snag night rides on every ride I wanted to, Saturday during the day it was like a "normal" summer weekday with waits not bad unless you wanted to ride a ride in Nick U (kid halloween celebration is there and the picnic grove.) Come sunset though, the park got mobbed, maximum waits (including a Beast line that extended through the queue and down to the Crypt entrance) for everything. My advice is if you live locally go on Fridays, if you're further away (and starting your drive back at 1 am is not appealing) go Friday night, and stay through sunset Saturday.
  9. Your brain does temporarly get ischemic, but its only for a few seconds and not long enough to cause brain injury, ie no cells die they just become dysfunctional for a few seconds. When your foot falls asleep it is because of the same reason (lack of blood flow) and it also recovers completely.
  10. Heres the real answer,do you really think that CP is going to take out a ride that is still popular and is not (since the magnetic break addition) really needed too much maintenance?
  11. Haunt activity is only on Friday and Saturday night, so on a Sunday there will be nothing except the kiddie part (I forget the new name) in the picnic grove. If you choose Saturday, be aware that come dusk the park will go from confortably not crowded to absolutly mobbed, every coaster and maze will have 2-3 hour wait. If you want to do the Haunt, come Friday to do the mazes and get your night rides in and then mop up the attractions you didnt ride during the day on Saturday. Odds are the park will be so dead if you go on a Sunday so you wont need a plan but Ive found that the best way to do a park with normal crowds, factoring in that Diamondback and The Beast are open for Gold/Platnium ERT (and thus will have a line) is this: 1. Firehawk 2. Flight of Fear 3. Drop Tower 4. Invertigo 5. Son of Beast 6. Flight Deck (not because it has a long wait but because its a long walk and right by SOB) 7. Delirium 8. Eat Lunch 9. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Mansion (dont worry if the line looks long, its a people mover a full queue is only 30 min) 10. Avatar 11. Diamondback 12. Beast 13. Backlot Stunt Coaster 14. Vortex 15. Racer 16. Adventure Express
  12. Airtime baby, I gotta have my air time. That said, my top wood and steel coasters (Alpengeist and The Beast) are all about speed and postive Gs, go figure, the rest of the top ten are filled with mostly airtime machines though.
  13. My 5: 1. Magnum XL 200 2. Millennium Force 3. Raptor 4. Maverick 5. Top Thrill Dragster Tips on how to ride them and more: 1. If you have a Platinum Pass, there is an hour ERT starting at 9am on Maverick, MF, Raptor, Iron Dragon, and Planet Snoopy do Maverick and MF during this time if you can 2. Do TTD right at opening for the shortest wait of the day 3. Wait for late afternoon/evening to do Raptor its wait will be significantly shorter then as compared to the morning 4. Get night rides on MF/Magnum 5. Four rides can have 2 hour waits, Maverick, MF, TTD and Raptor everything else should be >45 min. 6. Dont park in the main lot, ask to park in the Soak City lot, that way you can enter and exit from the heart of the park instead of having to enter/exit from the southern end of it
  14. Even though they are gone, Ride into the Danger Zone (kicking off the playlist,) and the Indy theme are part of my King's Island Playlist.
  15. Riding into the Danger Zone. I really miss the pinnacle album of "bad" 80s music playing in the queue. Oh well at least I still have the Magnum queue.
  16. Welcome back Millennium Force Riders how was your ride? (WOOOO!) And how was the bugs (mix of boo/woo!)
  17. Unfortunately I believe this is true, there is already a thread on Coasterbuzz and BGEscape where people who appear to have some connections say its going to happen, BBW is too much of a maintenance nightmare (oldest still operating suspended) and in a bad location if the park wants to make a new country out of the Drachen Fire area.
  18. This thread begins and ends with the best finale of any coaster Ive ever ridden: The Beast's final helix, especially after dark.
  19. I went on D-back twice during opening day, I kept one shirt for me, gave one to my brother. I have no problem with that it was a T-shirt no more no less.
  20. There is this other day of the weekend, its called Sunday. It is generally a whole lot less crowded.
  21. Seriously, why would any of you consider going on a Saturday in the summer to the park? Oh yes, I would love to see the lines for all the rides full! But good for KI for extending the hours, it will make the sheep that go there happier that they get an extra two hours to ride, as for employees yup it sucks, just remember you have a job though. Hopefully you will not have to close Sat and open Sun.
  22. Not to mention that there are other fan bases around here that agree with their Ohio State compadres in the opinion that Michigan Sucks!
  23. ^If you're paying $75 to get into WDW you are also "Poorley educated."
  24. ^Wont Season Parking will still be offered, provided you go Platinum?
  25. Hate to tell you but its the same all over, you even see it at Disney World now. I think it is sadly a reflection on our culture. I try to prevent it, and the parks try to prevent it but unless an employee sees it or the jumper confesses their hands are tied. If the ride op had seen it and not done anything about it then I would see your point. Also, Ill be darned if Im going to let one line jumper ruin my day at park. Screw that.
