  1. *cough* you forgot the oldest coaster in the a park: Racer *cough*
  2. Speaking of CP's Halloweekends, theyve announced their new mazes: Boeckling's Eerie Estate located in the old CF HQ buildingand.... Happy Jack's Toy Factory replacing Pharoh's Secret in the DT queue http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/visit/hal...kends/index.cfm
  3. No you attacked the Arrow Dynamics company in masse. Which has arguably been the ride company that has had the most effect on the amusement industry over the past 50 years.
  4. Again I ask, do you hate every steel coaster on the planet? If you dont, then you can thank the "crap" company for inventing the steel track.
  5. I loved the HM as a 5 year old, but if you would have brought me to a haunt I would have FREAKED OUT and probably would not want to go to an amusement park for a long time not only because the HM is full of "nice ghosts" but because unlike a ride where I knew that it would end, wasnt real and no matter what nothing was going to happen so long as I remained in the car. Not true about a maze full of fog, real people, and no barrier. Personally, if/when I have kids there going to be at least jr high age before they get to go to a haunted park.
  6. That same crap company also invented the steel coaster period when they debuted the tubular steel track on Matterhorn. They also created the mine train, looping, hyper, 4-D and suspended coaster. They invented the corkscrew and vertical loop elements. They also created the modern day log ride. And they created modern day dark ride (again with Disney working with the Fantasyland dark rides, Im not sure but they also may have helped with the omnimover too.) I dont like most of their rides that much but to call them a crap company is stupid. Without Arrow the amusment park would be a very different place.
  7. They really cant restrict people as long as their determined. Sure you could say that a tailgate picnic or one off to the side is a "safety issue" but if people are eating their picnic inside their car there really is nothing the company could do about that.
  8. I have yet to ride a coaster that is not better at night, even indoor rides become better (no idea why but they do.) That said, some benefit from the night more then others. At the very top of this jump in greatness is The Beast and Big Bad Wolf (RIP ) but Diamondback is not far behind, due to its wooden local, lack of lights and awesome view of the park from the MCBR.
  9. The Rhine River Plunge has had trims on it from its earliest days. The way things are going the only suspended that is going to be left in a few years is Iron Draggin, and what a shame that will be.
  10. As I said before, Massacre Manor is missing its front this year (last year the house was up all year) so I suspect that house is getting a redo. Heres hoping they don't ruin it, it was by far my favorite indoor haunt @ KI.
  11. Par for the course for SFGAm, at least compared to most of my experiences. I love Viper, Raging Bull, and B:TR but every time I go, park operations has a major screw up dealing with me somewhere. After reading a bunch of reviews, I thought I was the only one but at least now I know it can happen to someone else too .
  12. Im a member of ACE and Coasterbuzz. I enjoy the magazine and news letters (even if I can get stuff faster on the internet) and they do have a sweet apparel section (I know Im a dorK) I just joined coasterbuzz recently because I plan on attending their HW event this fall and it is nice to have that site be ad free.
  13. Standard disclaimer that no one knows how crowded the park is going to be, etc. etc. Ok onto my advice: -Halloween is the most crowded in the morning -Thanksgiving is the least crowded in the morning -Baukuli, Zoombabwe and Zinga will have waits in excess of 45 min after the first half hour of operation in Splashin Safari -With the exception of those three rides, the rest of the slides will be walk ons during the last 2-3 hours of water park operations -Halloween is the least crowded in the early afternoon -4th of July will also be the least crowded in the early afternoon As to weither or not you want to Voyage first, well that's a difficult question. Going from a strictly utilitarian viewpoint the answer is unquestionably yes, however that ride is without a doubt one of the greatest wooden coasters (nay coaster period) ever built and it will color your opinion of Legend and Raven (which are pretty darn good rides but still dont hold a candle to Voyage.) My personal advise is, if the park looks like its going to be crowded at opening do Voyage first, and then do the rest of Thanksgiving and be ready to do the "big three" slides of Splashin Safari right at its opening. Then, do the Raging River Raft ride, 4th of July flats, Frightful falls and then hit the Raven and the Legend. However, if it looks like the park is going to be dead, do the Raven first, then Legend then Voyage. Also one more word of warning, HW does a hard close which means the coaster lines close early so keep an eye on the lines as closing comes near.
  14. Yes, but it was only open pre haunt for the buffet and FOL pass to Urgent Scare. If its like CP, then Action Grill will be open all day with the decorations.
  15. Power Tower is great, probably should have added it to my must rides. Demon Drop is also fun. As for a POA, since you have the PP I would I did this past Friday: -Park in the Soak City lot, enter via the Resort Enterance at 9:00 -Ride Maverick (<5 min wait) -Ride MF (15-25 min wait) -Get in line for TTD and ride (15-30 min wait) -From there go up the midway towards Magnum and Gemini, you should have walk ons on every ride here though noon. Then finish off Frontiertown (Skyhawk, CCMR, Mean Streak) and head to Soak City -Do the front of the park in the late afternoon, the longer you wait to ride Raptor and Blue Streak the shorter thier waits will be -Make sure you get at least one night ride on MF and Magnum, but be sure to sit in the back (bugs) -Best rows on the coasters: -TTD: Front Row -Magnum: Back car, or 1-3 (aka the ejector seat) -Gemini: Back car -Mean Streak: As anterior as you can get to lessen the pain -Maverick: Back Row -MF: Any row is good (front is fun during the day) but I prefer the back -Blue Streak: 2nd Row -Raptor: Back Row
  16. ^It might be being turned into a "haunted" eating establishment (like CP does to their Coasters Restaurant) if thats true they will put up a bunch of decorations and still serve the same food.
  17. Beat the heat: -If you have a PP then you can get into Soak City free, it has a fantastic Raging River (with waves) -Go see a show (I suggest Got Country and Signed Sealed Delieverd) -Stand in line for Disaster Transport (A/Ced) -Get soaked on Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon -Yes they do the free water thing Must rides: -Magnum XL 200 -Millennium Force -Raptor -Top Thrill Dragster -Gemini -Blue Streak -MaXair (longer ride cycle then Delirium) -Skyhawk -Cedar Downs -Tilt a Whirl (quite simply the best one Ive ridden) -Witches Wheel -Calypso (Scramber on a 45 degree platform) -Cedar Creek and Lake Erie Railroad (if you only do one leg, make sure its from Frontiertown to Funway station as thats where Boneville is) -Starlight Experience Busts: -Mean Streak (ouch my back!) -Disaster Transport (yawn) -Scrambler (blink and the ride cycle is over)
  18. Or just go to Firehawk right at 10 and walk right on the thing .
  19. So then you cant do a single Arrow OTSR? Im pretty tall but they have never bothered me (even though I look silly with the horse collar a good 1-2 ft away from my chest thanks to my shoulders.
  20. ^Yes. For one thing, suspended's are more expensive to maintain then the off the shelf Arrow Looper, for another it has a higher capacity since it has three trains, and finally even after over 30 years of operation, it is the park's landmark ride. You still find the double loop prominently in their merchandise. Dont give them any more ideas! That was my first looper, and still one of the best, if not the best looping coaster they have ever made. Pulling out a Terpy, Im old comment. Touchdown remembers when it used to run so that two trains went through the loops at the same time.
  21. Depends on the coaster, for instance Space Mountain @ MK. I was personally evaced off of the ride one night, and as the CM who was assigned to us checked in on us and waited for the ok to evac he said that because of SM's old computers any time the ride is e-stopped for any reason they must evac the ride before restarting. I dont know if its true or not, but thats what he said. Also, being evaced off of SM is not the easiest thing in the world, most of the blocks are 5-10 ft above the walkway so when you do get out of your car you have to jump. Thank goodness no one in my family had a bad leg or was old, otherwise that would have been a problem.
  22. That extra test seat for Diamondback was used on opening day at the end of the temporary queue because the "real" test seat was inaccessible until after you waited a good 10-20 min.
  23. I continue to think that WoF and VF! was just put on token sale by the company though, CGA on the other hand... But that is not why I put CGA on the no for the ride, it already has a double decker Columbia Carousel and if its like its sister in Chicago has another carousel in the fair section too bringing its total to 2 (really 3) carousels. Or if they removed the extra, still doesn't need another one.
  24. Discovered the Pizza Pub on our first trip to the Dells, Chicago Style Pizza and not only that the best Chicago Pizza outside of Chicago. Havent needed to look for another place to eat since (we always did day trips with a picnic lunch.)
