  1. Well looks like I wont make it to either of them, I graduate that weekend. However, I would instead look on this as a plus. That means attendance is going to be down at both events next year, which means more rides during ERT for all.
  2. Just a clarification Im not saying that there should not be any gore, or mazes with lots of gore, I just want variety. Next year I hope they go in a different direction after doing 3 gore mazes in a row.
  3. So anyone else just a little tired of every new haunt relying far too much on gore? It just seems that ever since the name change its been gore, gore, gore. Club Blood was the first, and it was original (not my cup of tea but I completely agree that its well done for what it is) Urgent Scare (which by the way is improved this year) is also extemely well done, I dont understand why every zombie has blood all over the place but it works, however this year I think we have reached a breaking point. Cut Throat Cove is Blackbeards + gore and the results are meh. A lot of it has to do with the change in locals (there are next to no good hiding places in there and the walkway is too straight and too narrow) but I really dont think Pirates anything else to be scary, torture chambers and hanging heads? The former Pirates had no use for, and the latter is what the British and Spanish did to Pirates. This brings us to Slaughterhouse, which before I get a bit negative I do have to say that the way this maze is set up (technically great hiding spots and gags) and the actors in there were fantastic, however the theme was lame, unoriginal and felt like the same old same old. More gore, and for fun lets have half of the maze smell like manure, yay! Just because the haunt is a "mature event" does not mean that every single maze should rely heavliy on gore and grossouts to achieve scares. Year in, year out, Massacre Manor and the Trail of Terror seem to be the favorites of most people there (followed by CarnEvil) which are some of the lightest on the gore, they have it they just dont rely on it. Personally, gore does nothing for me, it doesnt gross me out nor does scare me (I deal with it at my job everyday) I want to be startled, suspense is much more important. I really hope that next year the new mazes go in a little different direction. Its been a real long time since a monster maze was done (Vampires dont really count for me as they are very humanoid and really more about gore) bring on an Alien maze, or an Island of Dr. Moreau, something like that. The Haunt has enough gore for the time being.
  4. Ill be there as a guest, also will be at KI on Sunday (Saturday Im going to the Fall Affair at Holiday World.) Last trip to Mason for the year for me.
  5. The Mythbusters had a hard time dealing with this, sans bugs. If Jaime had a hard time, most others will too. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, stupid, stupid, stupid.
  6. My favorite house still has to be Massacre Manor. Its fantastically done, Ill never forget the first time I went through it and in that final room the fog was so thick I had to impersonate Frankenstein's walk because I couldnt see anything. Trail of Terror, and Urgent Scare are not far behind it.
  7. While I enjoy the haunts, by far the best thing about this time of year is the extreme amount of night riding time on the coasters (thanks to both later closings and earlier sunsets) and the fog drifting over their courses. I do every haunt once, and only once, then its on to power riding the coasters the rest of the night.
  8. I have a 3 hour trip to KI, and my playlist to get down there is all Halloween related songs. I have a few that are played at the park (Monster, Thriller) but mostly i stick to Halloween movie/theatre songs (Nightmare Before Christmas, Rocky Horror, Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Signs) with of course some Disney stuff thrown in (Grim Grimming Ghosts) and some classic rock songs (Highway to Hell, Enter Sandman.) Its an extremely aclectic mix of songs I mostly only listen to this time of the year and since I dont bring anyone on these trips (none of my friends want to pay for a hotel) I dont have to worry about scaring/boring them with the strange mix of music. I do a much more mainstream mix of rock and roll and the classic halloween songs for my Halloweekends playlist.
  9. I went through at my own pace, which is pretty normal. Last year I dont think I ever waited more then 10 minutes for a single haunt, ditto the year before. Both times I got depressed when after 3-4 haunts I had to wait in an actual line. Thats mainly because everyone in the park does the coasters first, which is wrong, wait til later in the night and they will have short lines while the haunts have longer ones. The only ones that can foul this up are Trail of Terror and Tombstone, you need to get them done (in that order) ASAP once they open.
  10. Ive gone on a Friday for two years now and have never had a problem getting all the haunts done and most of the coasters too. The way you do it is to get there before opening and plan out the way you are going to do it. If you get the dinner then obviously you will be hitting the new house first, two years ago I even got out of the house before the park opened and managed to get to Massacre Manor ahead of the crowd too. You should be able to hit all or nearly all of the houses before the outdoor zones open. Once it gets closer to those opening up, go to Trail of Terror and get in line, then immediately go to Tombstone Terroritory. From there complete the rest of the zones and houses in the geographically easiest way for you. Ive finished all the haunts no later then 10:30, which gives you plenty of time to get night rides on the coasters. I went towards the end of September in 06 and Columbus Day weekend in 07.
  11. Staph aureus Staph aureus (methaclin resistant aka MRSA) Group A Strep Group B Strep Strep Pneumoniae Clostridium difficle Eikenella Candida albicans Just a small list of things that are more then likely on your skin, in your mouth or in your colon right now that if they were to go someplace else or grow too much could cause you to get sick and perhaps die. This study really proves nothing except its probably not a great idea to lick the bottom of your shoes.
  12. ^They are, which is what makes them such a good compliment. Especially for those of us that either live northwest of KI.
  13. Am I not correct in thinking that there is a 180 degree turn in the first half of Mystery Mine that is 90 degrees up and 90 degrees down?
  14. For enthusiasts, not the GP. They dont know who in the world Proslide is, and what they make.
  15. Im betting its a Rockit, Im also betting that its going to debut as the longest water coaster in the world (Black Anaconda @ Noah's Ark) although I suspect that its not going to touch the tallest and fastest marks though (which Im pretty sure are held by Schlitterbahn's Master Blaster.) Either way, it should be awesome.
  16. Best ride under 100 ft: Yankee Cannonball @ Canobie Lake Park.
  17. Use your park speakers (you know the one you announce show times on) except turn up the volume and warn everyone KI will become "monster infested in two hours" repeat again at 90, 60, 45, 30, 15, 5 minutes, and keep the signs you had last year up too. Any parent who doesn't get the message at that point is a moron who will get ****ed at you for closing the park at 6 anyways.
  18. Its also a shame that people who want to stay the whole day lose an hour of riding time as well, I wonder if they will do a "soft" (if you line up at 5:59 for a ride you get to ride, thus if you are good at timing you should never have to leave the park) or "hard" (lines close early so the last ride is at 6) close. Doesnt really effect me though, becuase for the first time I will not be doing my traditional Friday-Saturday haunt weekend but instead will do a Friday, Sunday haunt weekend with HW thrown in the middle.
  19. It also was possible because the coaster that was set to replace the Wizzer, Superman: Ultimate Flight only required a level terrain for the coaster that they also happend to have under Shockwave to still be viable (ie no change in design was needed to move it.) Just a hunch, but I bet that the coaster replacing that ride is going to be customed designed for that fun terrain.
  20. Indeed, as you age the fluid in your inner ear thickens, which causes your vestibular (balance) system to be more sensitive and prone to being overloaded (vertigo) just be happy you dont have that problem, I know I am.
  21. And do not ride in the front half of a coaster once dusk starts.
  22. Woah, when did the 26th become a closed day, it was originally going to be a Haunt only night (open 7-1.)
  23. ^Not an "air whore" Terpy? I know I am, with few exceptions most of my top 10 steel and wooden coasters have a whole lot of airtime on them.
  24. Shivering Timbers is worth the trip alone. 2nd most airtime on a wooden coaster Ive ever experienced (obviously Voyage is #1.)
