Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!
Touchdown replied to IBEW_Sparky's topic in Trip Reports
Really because one obnoxious kid cut in front of you? I dont really see how this is the park's fault, in fact it looks like the park did everything they could to fix the problem. -

^You just named the three CP coasters on my top 10 steel list. However I think Maverick, TTD, and Blue Streak would get me to go there without those three. -

No one was hurt, the train had safely cleared the lift before the incident. Whatever happened, happened when the ride was trying to bring the catch cab back to the station. -

Im just going to give a shout in the dark, but I bet it will be Maverick. Might as well trot out the new ride for double ERT as opposed to anything else. Doubt it will be BS, Maxair, or Raptor as that is the night ERT. -

Cedar Point Ride List
Touchdown replied to KI Kevin's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Some other suggestions: -MaXair (it has a much longer ride sequence then Delirium) -CP&LE Railroad-Real coal trains and the Frontiertown to Main Midway half has Boneville so be sure to at least ride that half -Tilt a Whirl-Located in Camp Snoopy this is by far the best of its kind Ive been on, the thing really spins -Night Rides on MF and Magnum, these rides are even better at night -Calypso-Ive never seen another one like this, its a scrambler tilted at 45 degrees -Cedar Downs-A really unique carousel, that is faster and whose horses not only bob up and down but rock forwards and backwards. -
They wont if this is the final year for that ride, which is what Im willing to bet it was. I walked by that ride 5 times yesterday, and everytime it was down. The ride is a PO* uh I mean POC .

Sorry the SRL is not for our benifit, its for the parks to increase ride throughput. If the SRL line causes you to wait one hour, thats just the way it is. Personally, I agree, let the SRL be open all the time, and have idiots queue up for it even if it goes to the front entrance (hey its a shorter line .) I also really need to point out that if I was to walk up to MF, Maverick, TTD or Raptor with a 45 min wait midday on Memorial Day weekend I would be extastic. I was there yesterday with my brother, and seeing as this was his only trip to KI this year and the line was that short we elected to go in the main line all three times we road the ride giving us 3 back row rides. That was our longest wait of the day, on a Sunday while events were going on! We had a blast and did a whole slew of rides (Diamondback x3, Beast x2, Firehawk x2, FoF, Drop Tower, SoB, Flight Deck, Train x2, Coolingada Racer, Crocidile Run x3, Tazmanian Tornado, Scooby x2, Racer, Adventure Express and Backlot.)

Why does everyone have a problem with the idea of groups going in the SR line? My thought is this, if you are willing to not ride as a group and not get to pick your seat you should be able to go SR if you want.
-
Maverick's Water Cannons do not usually run until after Memorial Day and get shut off on Labor Day because there is a chance (given the wind) that the spray can hit the nearby midway.
-
Hold a heavy hard book in both your hands and then raise them so that they are even with your ears. Then proceed to whack yourself with those books a good 30 times on each side. Congratulations you now know what it is like to have just ridden the "famous" Drachen Fire.

Texas Six Flags? Park on PGA Tour Golf
Touchdown replied to KIfan73's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
means I was joking and it was more meant as a compliment to the park more then a negative towards SF. That park is everything that most SF parks Ive been to (not to mention CF parks) does not have. Its truly a fantastic park and never seems to get enough credit for how fantastic it really is. Sorry if I offended. -
Texas Six Flags? Park on PGA Tour Golf
Touchdown replied to KIfan73's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Please do not soil Fiesta Texas by calling it a Six Flags park. It doesnt deserve that. Its completly like any other SF park you have ever been to, it has great shows, great rides (minus Rattler,) great theming and an amazing night show. I dont know why there are SF signage all over the park but there is no way that park can be run by that organization . -
Average Ride Waits at Cedar Point
Touchdown replied to KI Kevin's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
MF: 1.5-2.5 hours TTD: 1.5-2.5 hours Maverick: 1.75 hours (its full queue) Raptor: 30 min-3 hours Mantis: <1.5 hours Really the 4 that will have long waits are Maverick, Raptor, MF, and TTD. Assuming that you have a platinum pass, you get an hour of ERT in the morning and you can knock off 3 of those four, easy. The fourth, Raptor has a gigantic line first thing in the morning (first ride everyone sees) but come mid afternoon, when everyone is in the back of the park you can find waits under an hour, sometimes as low as 30 min. So my suggestion is this: 1. Maverick right at ERT opening 2. MF during ERT 3. By this time it should be close to actual opening, head to TTD and wait for it to open at 10 4. From there hit up some rides near by (Power Tower, Corkscrew, Magnum) and make your way back to Gemini 5. Continue onward hitting rides in Frontiertown and then take the train to the Main Midway 6. Grab your ride on Mantis if you want (but why?) and then make your way towards WT and do that midway, then Raptor and then go up the Main Midway on the other side 7. Get your night re rides on your favorites. Of course a whole lot of things can change this (weather, company picnics, etc.) but those are the wait times Ive seen on a "normal summer weekday." -
Cedar Point reveals new signs
Touchdown replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
About time the best ride in the park got an actual sign. It looks great. Can not wait until Saturday! -
Also, you folks have to remember that there was A COASTER CONVENTION at KI last weekend. We enthusiasts happen to have a much greater preference for the SRL. Of course its going to be full, there is a bunch of enthusiasts there trying for 50 Diamondback rides in one day and what not. I went the first and second Saturday the park was opened and it worked great both times. Never waited more then 10 minutes.
-
Besides May weekdays Ive found that CP can be quite dead on Labor Day Monday, Halloweekend Fridays (especially the first 2 hours) and Halloweekend Sundays. If your going in the summer, your only chance to marathon the big rides is to go to Coaster Mania or go on a day where its been forcasted to rain the whole week, does rain most of the day and is usually cool.
-
15 straight on Magnum, without getting off, and 2 with no trims at CM last year is my record. I cant imagine marathoning The Beast, my back would probably give out after the 3rd or 4th time on that one. I can see marathoning Diamondback. MF is a good ride to marathon if you can, Racer I imagine is fun, as would be any other mid size out and back wooden coaster. Ive also mini marathoned Kumba (7 times) but due to the heat and dehydration I was starting to brown out on the loops towards the end of that one.

kings dominion new coaster in development

CP already has a Club Blood, its the rethemed Lair of the Vampire that opened last year. I really, really hope that what ever CP is getting is either a dark ride or a flume. -
Cedar Point weekly poll on website
Touchdown replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There is no question that Magnum is the airtime king in the park (and now that I take a step back and think about it, in the world or at least compared to every ride Ive ridden.) But I really dont understand the hate towards MF's air, sure its floater but you get some fantastic floater air on that first drop, the hills that transport you on and off Millennium Island and of course that one bit of ejector air right by the exit station. To me its #2. #1 Magnum #2 MF #3 Blue Streak #4 Gemini #5 Maverick (which suffers for its OTSRs) -
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Touchdown replied to trevor75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
SFFT is by far my favorite SF park. My additional suggestion is to check and see if they are doing the Texas Summer Spectacular the night you are there. If they are, go see it its the best night show Ive seen outside of a Disney Park. They project images onto the quarry wall and shoot off fireworks as you take a trip through Texas' history. Perfect way to end a day at the park. -

Realistically, how many Diamondback Opening Day rides do you expect?
Touchdown replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
2 for sure (right at ERT and timed so that I get a night ride) perhaps 3 if the line is short enough that I get off the ride and back in line before 10 (doubtful.) Ive been on loads of B&Ms My top ten: 1. Alpengeist-Amazing, currently steel coaster #1. The opening combo of the drop, diving loop, vertical loop and cobra roll is just incredible. The rest of the ride, while still fun is not as amazing due to a usually hard MCBR. 2. Raptor-Most of you have ridden it, but that helix that ends the ride is right below The Beast's helix as my favorite last element on any ride 3. Montu-Alpies little brother, it has the unique batwing inversion and half burried elements, but for some reason does not pack the punch of the rides above it. 4(t). Raging Bull-Ive ridden this ride when that 3rd hill trim was not working, thats why its up here, because the ride is seriously amazing when that happens, otherwise its still got a lot of fun and air. 4(t). Apollo's Chariot-The more I ride this one, the higher up it goes in the rankings, lots of air on this. 5-6. Dueling Dragons: Fire more then Ice, this ride's dueling feature is just so much fun, especially on the vertical loop. 7. B:TR clones (GAm, OT, OG): As others have said, no coaster packs so much punch with so little track. 8. Batman Knight Flight: Still my favorite floorless, loved the local it once was located and is really similar to the pacing of Alpengeist 9. Kracken: Great ride 10. Kumba: Again great ride The Rest: -Georgia Scorcher (only standup I like) -Talon -Great Bear -Shikra -S:UF (GAm and OG) -Mantis -Iron Wolf -
Not to mention that you can (and should) eat and drink your way around World Showcase. I love Epcot, and I prefer to be in World Showcase most of the time too, betweeen all the shops, live shows, and food and drink there is really no better way to spend an afternoon. Not to mention World Showcase is where the best firework show on the property takes place at closing.
