  1. Normally I would agree with the grain of salt comment, but the event was mentioned on the KI SP email that went out on 1/27, so that would make it pretty official to me...
  2. Wow, that sounds like a challenge. I scared many a young'un just like yourself, who I'm sure would have said the exact same thing. And as to my scaring abilities, I have at least a couple of fans... See you at Haunt 2009, kings_island~thrill is me!... if you dare... And thanks for sticking up for us, beastfan! Now back to our regularly scheduled topic...
  3. Your unfriendly neighborhood Club Blood Bouncer thanks you for the kind words!
  4. I'm surprised no one's mentioned a Nick U re-theme in this topic as a possibility yet. Should CF decide not to renew the Nick contract, you could see Nick pulled out of all the former Paramount Parks. Or does the Nick contract end at the end of the 2010 season, rather than the end of 2009? I always get confused by that...
  5. I'm going to assume that you're not talking about the Inn behind the stagecoach, and that you're referring to the building on the right with the two chimney things. That's the storage building for the trains, where they keep them when only one is running and when the park is closed.
  6. I guess that would be the equivalent of having one in your desk drawer at work...Guilty!!! I keep it there for easy reference when someone asks me a question about KI.
  7. From looking at that video, perhaps that's why there's no SPPN for DB...
  8. Speculation: Perhaps that's why Ryan's going to the park today? From his Black Hat post dated 1/22:
  9. ^You beat me to it. A MUCH more intense version of Flight Commander!
  10. There will not be a webcam broadcast of the party (unless the mods are planning that and haven't mentioned it yet). What pkiruler was talking about in this post that you're referring to: was that he would be looking for us on the webcam at kiDiamondback.com during our DB construction site tour.
  11. Argh! I watch Jeopardy every night but missed last night! Instead we were having dinner with my sister who was just in town for the night, and I got home just in time to only see the Final Jeopardy question. I like to think I would have done well in the theme park category...
  12. ^Yeah, after I posted I looked at rcdb and checked out Skyliner. It had me at "John C. Allen", and now I find out it's buzz bars and no seat belts! I am soooo at Lakemont if we do our "Parks of PA" tour! Gator, dreaming back to the days of Racer and Beast with buzz bars...
  13. From http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-01-19-zoo_N.htm: What an unfortunate choice of words. Which surprisingly have not yet been changed... Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo
  14. Wow... when I was making my list of parks for our possible "Parks of PA" tour this summer, I completely forgot Lakemont! This park is a must just for Leap the Dips. I've heard of Delgrosso's before but don't know too much about it. From their map it looks like you can do everything in a couple of hours. Of course, I thought the same about Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk... boy was I wrong there. We spent much more time at SCBB than I had planned, not because of lines, but because of the greatness of that little park.
  15. And there are those of us that had to attempt to calm down and distract an hysterical woman while the Landscaping crew removed a raccoon from Coney Mall:
  16. May 1st, 8th and 15th are Math & Science Days. http://visitkingsisland.com/events/event_d...86&ec_id=15
  17. Sounds like a clown band to me! Now if only I didn't have this pesky job that I need to pay those even peskier bills and to support my family because clown band pay wouldn't cut it...
  18. Love the Alpine Slide at Ober Gatlinburg. I always take it very fast, but the one time my wife did it I felt sorry for the guy coming down behind her. She had the brake applied the whole time and took it so slowly that he caught up with her.
  19. Or was he pooped on by a Seagal? Was it's name Steven?
  20. Reminds me of when we went to PCW in '97. We were in line for their go-carts if I remember correctly. Anyway, one of the guys I was with is in a wheelchair, and the queue line was wide enough to accomodate it. As we were zigging and zagging through the empty queues, a group of kids who entered the line behind us decided to duck through the queue railings, and they would have ended up in front of us. At that point I said VERY loudly, "Do not cut in front of us!" The girls stopped in their tracks, with wide eyes, and got behind us after we passed. I have no problem with ducking through the queue rails as long as the only people ahead of you are those already stopped. But if someone is ahead of you in the empty queues, that's line jumping. Then there were the girls at HW this past summer. We were in line for Voyage, and had just gotten to the downstairs queue area when two teen girls came from behind us and said they were catching up with their friends. Like a fool I let them pass. 2-3 minutes later, the guy behind us points out to me the girls, who are now climbing the stairs out of the lower queue area to the loading area. From that point on, I swore to never let anybody by using that excuse. "Nevermore!" (OK, for you literate people out there, that line would actually work better if I had been in line for Raven at the time...) And I love that shirt, giga!!! Too bad they don't have a color I would wear, or my size...
  21. OK, based on Don's response to Jackson, I take back by statement about the ERT and SPPN not being an either/or situation. Don sure makes it sound that way, but I could have sworn they weren't. (And I tried a search on here for ERT to try to back up my view, but it doesn't allow searches under 4 letters... and I'm not going to take the time to manually scan every topic). And to answer your question RailRider, for the greater good I would pick the ERT over SPPN. After all, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one)." Who knows, I may end up being able to take advantage of the ERT more than I currently anticipate. Only time will tell...
  22. Um... the SPPN will not be packed because there is no longer a SPPN. See the post that started this topic.
  23. I completely agree with you there! I'm disappointed, but at the same time I realize that the world does not revolve around me and things change. Sure, I made plans around 4/17, but I can always change those plans. My first DB ride might have to be pushed back a few weeks, and it may be painful to walk through the park seeing DB on my first visit on 4/18 knowing I may not be able to ride it that day, but I'll live. And the SPPN and ERT were not "one or the other". A few on here are speaking like they were. I always understood it to be that if we had the SPPN we would have also have the ERT. The greater overall benefit of course is the ERT, and the SPPN was a nice extra (that personally would have benefitted me more).
