Free Uni Tickets
XGatorHead 8904 replied to UncleHenry's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wasn't one of the first 10,000, but I did enter for a chance to win one anyway since they are still giving away a trip a day in February. I also entered a similar sweepstakes for WDW/DL. For that one, unlike Universal's, you can enter once each day in February, and they are giving away five 5 day/4 night trips for 4 people that include resort room, airfare, character dining, photopass, VIP Tour Guide and many other nice extras. -
If you go here: http://visitkingsisland.com/goldpass/, you will find last year's gold pass perks book. In the calendar section, it lists the ERT locations and days they were held last year. I know for the Action Zone ERT, they had a gate set up on front of Kings Island Theater, for Nick U I believe it was near SD&THC, and not sure where it was for Coney and Rivertown ERT's.

Say what you will about KI's website, but it beats the heck out of any Six Flags website I've seen. At least with KI you get a picture along with the description of the ride. At Six Flags, you almost always only get a description, and its often hard to tell what the ride actually is from just that and no picture.

Then Avatar and I can no longer be considered KIBB addicts, since we heard that music WAY too much last year! You may be a KI addict if, while your wife and daughter are away in Florida April 28th - May 3rd, you plan to take the day off work Friday May 1st and go to the park (even though it's Math & Science Day), and have been mulling over maybe taking a road trip to visit another park on May 2nd and possibly seeing if anyone in the KIC Universe may be interested in joining you so you don't have to go alone. More on this later...too bad CP's not open then...but I have a few parks in mind...

No real rituals, but TB's story made me think of something we used to do as kids. When my sister and I were little, we only got to go to KI once a year. Everytime we got in the car to go back home, my sister and I would look back at the Eiffel Tower and say "Bye, Kings Island Tower!" We would stay turned around looking at the tower until it disappeared from view (which, as TB said, was miles away at the time). This ritual seemed to end when we got older and started getting season passes for Christmas.

Entertrainment Junction's a good time. We went in December. Impressive displays of model trains, nice kid's play area, great seasonal attractions, and very informative displays which I wish I had had more time to read. The Duke Energy one is nice, but EJ blows that one out of the water (or off the tracks as it were).

Thanks for the advice. I had a lot of bad eating habits, which I've cut. I'm also eating healthier foods, smaller portions, cut out the soda, and drinking lots of water (which certainly does fill one up!). I'm allowing myself a few exceptions: 1 dessert item a week (I was having way too much since my wife keeps buying them...since Sunday the willpower has kicked in), and I can't do without my weekly Chipotle Day every Wednesday!

You can guess, but I'm not sayin'... unless there's a prize involved. Is this the Age & Weight game? Ooo...post #666...the mark of !!!!!!!

Congrats Pikeman! Not to hijack your topic, but one of the gifts I got for Christmas was a new scale (we've been saying we needed a better one for years). I finally got it out and used it for the first time Sunday...and let's just say I was not happy with what I saw...it was the heaviest I've ever been. Fortunately not "season premiere of The Biggest Loser" heavy , but there was a mark I never wanted to go above, and I was above it. Looking at myself in the pictures of the KIC event also reaffirmed that something needs to be done. (Why is it that I always think of myself as skinnier than what I actually am?) Since then, I've put myself on a strict diet, and will be upping my efforts at the gym (which I have let slide recently). Let the weight loss begin (again)!

^And Don had most of us when he pulled the same thing Saturday.

I don't bruise easily, no damage was done to me, so I won't be pressing charges, civilly or criminally... even though I now see I was assaulted and battered.

Hotel Rooms, Snow, and the No Shoes Party!
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Ki Man's topic in Trip Reports
^Yeah, I didn't even know you were there! But I plan on being there on the 21st too, so maybe I'll see you then. -
Hey, nice pictures of the back of my head...and I'm glad you finally unrolled the poster to see what it was! It was good meeting everyone there, or seeing you again in a few cases. Let's hope for no snow and ice in the week leading up to 2/21 so we can get that DB tour in!

Cedar Fair Cut to Long-Term Buy
XGatorHead 8904 replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Argh! You're bringing back nightmares! Gator, now trying to re-erase the memory of spending many a nice summer day last year studying for his Series 6 (but then passing the test with no real problems)... -
When I worked in Admissions, we would pull the turnstile workers 15 minutes before park close, and open all the gates between the turnstiles at that time. But my time in Admissions ended in 2004, so I can't speak of what the standard procedure is now... And when the three billboard banners were added to the front of the main gate area, that greatly improved the look of the front gate, instead of having that big wall of brown tiles on International Restaurant.

Ugh... sounds like the Six Flags model of business. Didn't you say that Cedar Fair believes there are two ways to do things, the Cedar Fair way and the wrong way?

New ride for 2010?
XGatorHead 8904 replied to kings_island~thrill is me!'s topic in Coming Attractions
Sure, a retheme would cost a lot of money, but in the long run it may be cheaper than what Viacom may want for a Nick license renewal. It all depends on how much is wanted, and how much CF is willing to pay for Nick. -
New ride for 2010?
XGatorHead 8904 replied to kings_island~thrill is me!'s topic in Coming Attractions
My daughter likes KI & WDW, and she even liked Holiday World even though she didn't see any characters at all when we were there... but she was thrilled to get a HoliDog card on the way out. So I don't think it would matter to her if it was Nick or not. She even hugged Fred Flintstone at KI last year, a character that she had never seen before, not even on tv. As long as there are rides for her, she's fine!
