Kings island bring a friend days
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Atomheartmother616's topic in Kings Island
Yeah, I'll have to figure out how to juggle RWW and visit with Mom too. The whole family usually has lunch together that day, so it'll probably be KI early for ERT and events, leave at some point and come back for late ERT and events. -
I wouldn't necessarily say that. Back in the Paramount days they held a similar event which was an annual walk that benefited the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as well as events for Adventure for Wish Kids (now known as A Kid Again) and the long-standing AAA Orphan's Outing. As far as I can see, Run Kings Island benefits no one but Cedar Fair. But they did do a good job for A Kid Again this year with the Diamondback auction!

I got 90% on the quiz. I missed the question about the number of trucks Robbie Kneivel jumped last year... and I was there!

Another Good Reason To Process Your Pass Early
XGatorHead 8904 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^That 6:00 close time was for the early processing days, before the park opened for the season. A few years ago, season pass sales and processing normally closed at 8:00 on days that the park was open, and on occasion even later. Your best bet is to call the park during regular business hours (9:00-5:00), so someone can answer your question. -
The Crypt so much potential. So little time...
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Atomheartmother616's topic in Coming Attractions
I can assure you that the music played in the then TR:TR was not Peter Gabriel's Passion, the soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ. While parts of Passion are very percussion heavy and some similarities do exist between Passion and the TR:TR music, they are not one and the same. As a huge Gabriel fan, I've listened to Passion countless times and can tell the difference. -
Sure, now you get this idea. The week after my KIC shirt from cafepress arrived on my doorstep. I'll probably be wearing my "Line Jumping is Not a Sporting Event" shirt on opening day though, just to remind everyone of that rule who may have forgotten it during the off-season.

Unofficial KIC Road Trip
XGatorHead 8904 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
No. Originally I had posted with different park options for the roadtrip. Then the topic started veering towards a debate on the parks. That's when an executive decision was made to go to HW. Tiggy, Tiggy, Tiggy...what are we going to do with you? That's what weekdays are for! Do the yard work in the evening after work (or on 4/19...I'm spreading mulch and fertilizing the lawn that day), go to bed early rather that sleeping in, and make a quick trip to the store or shop online for the Mother's Day gift! As far as CP goes, here's my take on that, unfortunately... I would, but I think there are laws against transporting minors across state lines. Sorry! Sounds good! Math & Science Days are a little different than most days. You'll have the school groups there during the day, and a lot of them will start clearing out around 3:00 - 5:00 to get back home. What the non-school group crowd will be like, who knows? And here's hoping that more school groups have booked May 8th and 15th rather than May 1st! KI on Friday, May 1st Me violakat Giga (maybe) HW on Saturday, May 2nd Me violakat specialk141 (maybe) -

Gee Terpy, a certain song seems to be stuck in your head today... and now it's in mine again. The type of day you described would be my ideal opening day. Here's hoping for that! -
Weird that you should post this, since today is the 10th anniversary of the F4 tornado that hit the tri-state area. http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story/Tri-S...pGTLiJY9_w.cspx

Former Hard Rock Park has a new name
XGatorHead 8904 replied to nhimes90's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
From the article Ki4life08 posted: Have they learned nothing? Now is not the ideal time to be opening new parks. Ouch... there goes my head hurting again... -
That's what I'm hoping. The only thing I can't fit on at KI is Drop Tower, but that's an Intamin restraint. I'll find out in 9 days!

My family loves the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. We make sure to do this every time we go. Unfortunately we've never seen Push. I always look for him, but we always seem to be in Tomorrowland at the wrong time. How can it be that you've never ridden Haunted Mansion before? I don't think Kronos would approve of you waiting so long! Even though we know a lot about the parks already, we get the WDW planning dvd every year. It's fun to see the changes every year, such as the new rides and the different promos they have. The reason I bring this up is because GatorGirl just watched her favorite one last night, which is the 2006 edition. When it was over, she said "I want to go to Disneyworld now!" It doesn't help that we've taken her every year for the past three years. We told her (again) that we weren't going this year, but that we're going to visit a lot of other parks instead. I said to her "And one of those parks is a Sesame Street park" (Sesame Place). This helped, because she loves Sesame Street too. But I don't envy Mrs. Gator when they go down to Florida in a few weeks, since GatorGirl equates Florida with Disneyworld. Maybe we'll tell her Disneyworld is closed that time of year... she's used to that with KI! I'm looking forward to the hidden Mickeys. I've only found one on my own that I hadn't read about before going.

You can purchase season passes online at http://visitkingsisland.com/shop/shopping_season_pass.cfm and by phone at 1-800-288-0808.

Wah??? I've never heard of processing over the phone. I worked in Admissions for 10 years, the last year being 2004, and there was never a way then to do this, and I highly doubt there is now. If the park told you that it has to be done at the park, that's the way it has to be done.

Another Good Reason To Process Your Pass Early
XGatorHead 8904 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^ I wouldn't necessarily count on that. See below. That may or may not be true. In the Paramount days, even though the season pass voucher from online purchases said that, the pass had to be processed first before you could enter the park. This may have changed over the years with the new owners, or it may not have. Call the park for clarification on this. I can not stress this enough, the best time to process your pass is during these early processing dates in April. Typically very short lines. I'm thinking that if Ryan posted what he did, he got word from under the black hat that there will be ERT on opening day. Typically if he posts something, it is true unless it's changed by park management later. The park website may not have changed to reflect this yet. -
Now I'm starting to feel bad for posting my milestone numbers when I reach them at the end of my posts! Not really, because you can expect only quality from me! I couldn't care less about my number of posts per day. There's many times I'm on here and post nothing at all that day. I do like seeing people's post totals and the date they joined though. It gives me an idea on how seriously to take a person. I know when I first joined I wanted to be taken seriously because I love the park, I worked there for many, many years and I felt I had a lot to contribute from that experience. So I made sure (and still try to ensure) that I'm contributing something, even if it is just a little humor. I've never been one to type in text language (I can't stand it, and dislike texting in general). When I'm typing, on the first draft of each post I don't even use contractions (an old habit from my high school/college days). The first draft I always type stuff like "do not" and "I have", then when proofreading I go through and change them to "don't" and "I've". I'm just funny that way. This seriously made me laugh, because it's true (at least for me).

I was born July 16, 1996. Just a few months after I was born, the Flight of Fear opened (At the time named The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear) It to this day remains one of my favorite rides. Whoah, talk about deja-vu! CryptRaider, I can assure you that FoF did not open a few months after you were born. It actually opened a few months before you were born.

Thanks DeLorean for saying everything I wanted to say (and more) about World Showcase! When I read Gabe's post i just went "wah?" American Adventure's a very good show (but then I am a history buff), and World Showcase is not all about rides. There is sooo much to do and appreciate there. And Gabe, have you been to Living Seas since The Seas with Nemo and Friends was put in? If you have, I don't know how you can say that's not really a ride... It's very fun, and innovative with how they were able to project the characters into the actual aquarium. Especially love the EAC section!

Well, I haven't had any DB dreams yet (that I can remember), but Mrs. Gator has. She told me about the dream while we were driving past the park on Friday evening and saw DB testing. She said she got on it, but it wasn't finished yet. They left the station, start going through the first few hills, and next thing she knows the train full of people are on the ground, just standing around with no recollection of how they got off the train. I had a dream last week that some friends of mine convinced me that we should go to HW on April 18th instead of KI. Something was bugging me about this, but I went along with them, knowing that something was wrong. We got to Louisville, and it suddenly hit me. I said "Um guys, Holiday World's not open until May 2nd!" My friends got mad at me for not saying something earlier, and we wasted 4 hours round trip that could have been spent at KI.

Canada's Wonderland
XGatorHead 8904 replied to skaterboy22101's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I agree. Hey skaterboy, can you bring me back some Smarties? Not the fruit(?) flavored things sold in the US and given away a lot at Halloween, but these: http://www.smarties.co.uk/home/, basically Nestle's version of M&M's. Very yummy! Or I'll accept Coffee Crisp too!
