  1. My God you people are rude. All the man was doing was giving a trip report (a very nice one by the way). He can express his opinions regarding park employee without being blasted. I don't know why some people on this site are so rude.
  2. Go take a look at the "The Beast is Rough" thread - what that shows is that one constant among park/coaster enthusiasts is disagreement on what is good/bad/ugly. Sure, there are some that are more universally loved or hated, but I don't think I've ever heard a unanimous opinion. Also recognize that your opinion may be based upon a past memory and is likely to change over the years. For example - I'd gladly ride Woodstock Express over Adventure Express and I prefer to ride Vortex over Flight of Fear. Many on this board would disagree - that's life. And by the way, I like Mantis as well I definitely agree. Vortex is one of my favorite rides. I'm not sure what there is not to like.
  3. Phantom Theater was far better than that stupid kiddie stuff they have in their now. What a shame that they got rid of such a great attraction.
  4. Also in the absurd catagory is the actual cost to purchase those lockers: http://securacoinloc.../coin-sizes.php Wow, that IS expensive! But I'd say easily made up for! $646 for a set of twelves works out to be just over $107 per compartment. After renting it out 11 times, it's paid for. KI is making good money off of lockers! :/ Yes, a 6 compartment does cost $646, which is almost $108/ compartment. The installation is not free, nor is the shipping. There is also imcome tax involved the park has to pay for each rented locker. Now add in the maintenance costs for not only normal wear & tear, but for repair, replacement & for the buffoons that purposely destroy park property. Also add in the space needed for the lockers themselves & employees to staff the lockers for guests that cannot operate them & others that have lost their keys along with insurance for the lockers themselves. I'm sure the park is making money on the lockers (let's not kid ourselves- the park's #1 priority is safety, followed very closely by making money), but it is not as much as you think. Like food, drink, or a cell phone, renting a locker is a perk if you choose to use it. Guests do not have to bring in phones, or other valuable items that almost require a locker. Those items can be left in a car, a non-rider or at home/ hotel. No, I don't think any of those costs come close to the amount of money they are making. Even including installation, shipping, wear/tear, etc. By the way, you don't know that they paid that much for those lockers - they may have a discount or buy them in bulk, etc. How exactly would a guest enter the park with nothing with them -- what about their pass? Who doesn't bring at least a few dollars with them ? What about a towel? They wouldn't be able to go on slides or do much else if they brought anything in the park other than their body. Water parks are basically designed to require a locker.
  5. I agree with this. If a swimsuit is appropriate in the water park where there are kids and others around, why is it suddenly inappropriate several hundred yards away at the train/walkway to the waterpark area? I do understand the park has a dress code and frankly I don't care one way or another whether they get in trouble because I rarely utilize the water park anyways, but somehow I think KI has better things to do than take complaints from busy bodies who aren't being harmed by seeing a person in a bathing suit, but want to complain about it anyways just to get someone in "trouble". Having a rule and being able to enforce it are two very different things. I can assure you that KI is well aware that people are doing it. It's a little like if someone was speeding or jay walking. Would you call the police to report them? Probably not. It is their responsibility to enforce the rules, not other people. If someone had a weapon or there was actual danger or someone was being otherwise harmed by rule breaking, then obviously it would be a different story.
  6. What is Beast lake? Is that the body of water before those people got shocked and died or whatever?
  7. Well it's good that you ignored it because it was none of your business. That's a lot of the reason our nation is in trouble - people cannot keep their nose where it belongs. They have no right to charge $15 (before the deposit is returned) for a locker. It's not only ridiculous, it's irresponsible. You can be a little bit less rude in your post don't you think? It's a public park. So it is the posters business along with everyone else's. The signs in the park going to and from the waterpark state the rules. The people know via signs what the $2.00 lockers are for. No, I don't agree. It's no one elses' business nor mine as long as the person isn't violating public indecency laws. That may be the rules, but it's the park's place to enforce them, not the general public. I'm well aware that the $2 lockers are there to make more money. I think the park needs to offer some alternative to spending $15 on a small locker. Perhaps they could offer a smaller locker for less. The way it stands, it's basically impossible to enter the water park without buying a locker unless you take your admission ticket and car keys with you.

They have no right to charge $15 (before the deposit is returned) for a locker. It's not only ridiculous, it's irresponsible. Kings Island is a business in a free country built on capitalism. They have the right to charge whatever they want to for a locker, just like I have the right to choose to not rent a locker because I feel the price is too high. That does NOT, however, give people the right to change into swimsuits in the dry park and violate the dress code just to save $8, because while this great nation may be built on capitalism, it is most certainly NOT built on anarchy. Unfortunately, you are correct that our economy is based on "capitalism". Common sense, however ,will tell you if King's Island didn't want them to be able to do that, they wouldn't let them board the train, etc without being fully clothed which they apparently are allowing it.

  10. A question.. did the water mill contraption in the queue line ever actually work (as in have water going through it)? People in the line were talking about this.
  11. Honestly WindSeeker kind of reminds me of Flight Commander. I know Flight Commander didn't go that high and Flight Commander went upside down, but the way the arms look, it kind of resembles Flight Commander.
  12. Okay I rode The Beast yesterday and I've ridden it several times over the years. I have to say it seemed incredibly rough yesterday especially when going through the tunnels. I have to say I don't know how nobody has died or had limbs taken off in this ride as it seems like the clearance in the tunnels is not much and some people have their arm all out of the vehicle. I would be scared to death to do that in some of those tunnels.
  13. LOL.. that's a shame. Vortex is one of my favorite rides. Hopefully operations will resume soon.
  14. Exactly.. cell phones are stolen quite often. I've even had one stolen out of my car by a passenger. Frankly, I don't care who took it.. it ended well and is a lesson learned. Nothing is safe anymore .. if this was the 1970's - 1990's, maybe. I find the fact that they charge $15 for a locker (regardless of whether you get $5 back) is absolutely absurd. I was in the park yesterday and couldn't believe I paid almost 5 bucks for a beverage. Prices at the parks are outrageous.. OUTRAGEOUS. That doesn't mean I won't be paying it though LOL. By the way, the "Way Too Much TV" show in the Festhaus is a cute little show.
  15. Vortex was closed yesterday too.. I wonder what is going on. There were people walking the lift hill yesterday.
  16. interesting story, but how do you know security didn't just pick your bag up because they saw it unattended? You shouldn't be leaving unattended bags out for any reason regardless of where you placed it. I somehow doubt if a thief got your bag, they took a few dollars and your bag just made it into the hands of Lost and Found. Are you saying security took the money? Pretty bold to make that accusation on here. I see women leaving their purses completely unattended in places other than the park, which blows my mind . I have to remind my own mother to hold her purse up-she has the habit of carrying it by the handles and letting it nearly drag the ground-would be very easy for a thief to grab and go. Thieves are generally after easy cash-and that is what happened there. I'm not saying security took anything.. if it was only a few dollars, it's possible the person was mistaken. It's just a bit hard for me to believe that a person would attempt to steal a bag in broad daylight and take nothing more than a few dollars. That's not to say it didn't happen ... people are stupid.
  17. What is it called now? Has it been changed much since the 1970s?

  19. The Tumblebug was open from 1972 to 1985 and came from Coney Island in Cincinnati. While I'm not sure exactly why it was removed, I suspect due to declining popularity. As the ride had been built in 1925 originally at Coney Island, I'm doubtful it was relocated or is in storage. I would assume it was demolished.
  20. I was curious what happened to the King's Island Inn (that motel that the Brady Bunch cast stayed in the 1970's) that used to be across the street from King's Island?
  21. I was at King's Island last Saturday and I wanted to report that they are using the old Phantom Theater characters as Halloween decorations! I seen several of the characters, including Maestro and several others with set pieces over in Coney Maul... near The Racers in one of the center landscaping areas. The Maestro clearly had wires hanging off him... has anyone else spotted them?
