Reminder About Leaving Stuff In Boomerang Bay
qscott86 replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Kings Island
Please explain how Kings Island is different than any of those places in regards to security? A person can only steal your things if you leave them unattended (unless of course they pickpocket you or assault you and how often does that happen?) I don't think many if any parks' reputations have soured due to people stealing - to believe something that unfounded is a bridge too far in my opinion. It seems to me we are splitting hairs here, but all agree that the guest is responsible for their own stuff. I'm glad we agree on one thing then. I appreciate you posting links, but those are sites that like any site have bias - they are not empirical studies. Who is stealing? People are stealing from people's pockets? Unless you leave your things unattended then there is little opportunity to steal. There are thieves at Holiday World as well I assure you. Holiday World is a more rural and less visited park so of course the dynamic is different, but thieves are everywhere. -

Of course any public place can gain a "reputation" for having thieves because thieves are everywhere. I think it's quite a stretch to say that a large number of people decide to not visit or leave their wallet in their vehicle because they are concerned about theft. Most of the people who leave thing in their car do it out of convenience rather than security. King's Island isn't unlike visiting a mall, an airport, a nightclub, whatever... the potential for theft is always there. -

Again you try to put words in my mouth you really need to re read your post and secondly I have not once or at any time said as you say "your belief that the park has the responsibility of watching your belongings" or referenced that in any way as that is a given. For the record ALL guest have the ultimate responsibility for their own safety and personal belongings. Now how about your backing up your position that parks do not go to great lengths to protect their guest while they are there to include watching for thieves in parking lots and water parks to include Kings Island. I am not saying they need to or that it is their responsibility but they do it almost all of them for a myriad of reasons. Please find me some resources to back up your claim. Here is a PR firm who helps parks overcome a reputation that they did not deserve. http://www.reputica....ement-parks.htm Undercover security http://www.cracked.c...-world-secrets/ IAAPA http://www.iaapa.org/industry/funworld/2005/august05/features/to_be_seen/tobeseen.html Have seen nothing in these link that supports your claim. Opinion is quite different than fact. By the way, Disney is concerned about people stealing from their stores -- not from other people. -

I did not say that you said the park was stealing, but you made the outrageous claim that the park would gain a bad reputation for theft when it isn't their fault and theft is an ordinary occurrence in ANY public place unless you live in a bubble. Regardless of whether you have "facts" about security cameras makes little difference - the park is not responsible for insuring the security of your own belongings. If you can't handle that on your own, you probably shouldn't leave your house. I think the only thing that is "misguided" here is your belief that the park has the responsibility of watching your belongings. -

That doesn't give them a reputation like that. As someone else pointed out, it's not the park that's stealing. Public places in general are prone to theft - it is not the park's responsibility to protect the personal items of guests or discourage theft. Please tell us what other parks have erected security cameras for this purpose? Do all parks that don't have them have a bad reputation? Logic fail. As expected, you didn't cite any study, but made assumptions. You cannot say that another person would care about a flashing red light - that's just your opinion. -

Please cite studies. Kings Island isn't going to construct more security cameras so that personal items don't get stolen. They don't have the manpower to deal with thieves and if they did construct such a camera then people would be asking why they aren't monitoring them. Personal belongings are the guest's responsibility at all times. -

What exactly do you expect them to do? Signs aren't going to discourage people from stealing.. few people read them anyways. -
Although Wikipedia says Wheel of Fortune closed in 1990, I don't think that's right. In the Brady Bunch episode, they did a popup trivia special and it says that it closed 11 years later which would have been 1984. Edit: It is 1984 - Wikipedia corrected it - a vandal changed it to 1990. You're missing the Lion Country Safari Monorail (1973-1993)

OMG love Phantom Theater.. so much better than Boo Blasters for babies.
-
Why even include Boo Blasters? When is there ever a line for that moronic ride?
-
Remove the stupid Boo Blasters and put the Phantom Theater back in. The last thing the park needs is more rides for babies and that was one of the most moronic ideas they've come up with yet. Phantom Theater was a classic.

Few things in life are not matters of perception. I personally think The Beast isn't bad until it goes into the tunnels - the train gets going far too fast and you shake so much you think you might pop a blood vessel. I still feel the clearance in those tunnels is not satisfactory and someone could easily be severely injured if they had their limbs reached out into the wrong place.

It may be smoother than some years, but it's far worse than it used to be.
-
Some people say a lot of things.. but it's worse in my opinion.
-
Yes, there's nothing smooth about this ride and it has gotten worse, not better. People who say this ride has gotten smoother must not have a low standard of comparison (i.e. Son of Beast). The roughness after the second drop is inexcusable.
-
LOL I love how people think it's practical to be moving rides around. Do you have any idea what moving Congo Falls or BLSC would involve?

Your daughter is cute as a button. Sounds like you had a great time.

That's true and it happened only 9 days after America Sings opened -- on July 8, 1974. They eventually changed the walls so they would breakaway if a similar incident took place. The people in the next theater could hear her screaming. Maybe it should have been called America Screams.

The Carousel of Progress is a rotating theater attraction in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It was Walt Disney's own creation and his favorite attraction.

So beaches, pool parties, water parks, and most especially- indoor water resorts are not for families anymore? That's what I'm saying. I find it outrageous that people are complaining about seeing "clad" people in the park when the water park has "clad" people all around. I realize the rules vary between the two, but how can one be "offended" at the theme park when the water park is supposed to be just as family friendly. I don't see what difference it makes if someone is a few hundred yards away at the water park. Why can you wear sweatpants in the parking lot of your workplace, but must wear a suit 10 yards away? I do see what you're saying, but understand that these rules are in place for the comfort of everyone. Wearing a two-piece bikini in the dry park is not appropriate for the location. Is it appropriate in a water park? To many, yes. But be it 10 yards or 10 miles away, the same girl in the same two-piece bathing suit looks misplaced and inappropriate walking around a dry park. "There's a time and a place for everything," they say. It's cultural. There are amusement parks in Japan that have very, very strict "no visible tattoos" policies. If you have a visible tattoo, you are asked to exit the park and may happily return once it's covered. In America, we have much less stringent policies on appearance in most situations. The one that is established at this particular theme park is that you cannot wear swim suits in the dry park. Like wearing suits to a job where no one but coworkers will see you, it is a socially constructed norm that the park chooses to enforce as a rule. It is expected behavior, and while biologically it has no basis, it is what our society has created. I think you are grasping at straws when you compare the swimsuit in the dry park issue with office workers wearing swimsuits. The park doesn't enforce the rule and for good reason. By the way, people are only wearing swimsuits to my knowledge in the area near the walkway to the water park, not the entire park. Society hasn't constructed any of that -- it is the construction of people who live to do nothing other than control the lives of others - the people who plague our society like a disease. If you don't want bathing suits in the dry park, don't wear one - it doesn't mean people have a right to enforce their extremist views on everyone else.

Um, yes, the rides do exist.. you're just acting stupid and being ignorant much like a child would be in attempts to defend Kat's lunacy over the word 'the'. Ride operators can call the ride whatever they want - she has no place correcting them.. If anyone should edit their post, you should.

Hmm .. well my memory must be failing me. They need to add more fans for sure. Why have the TVs been removed? They could have re-done the video.
-
Delirium and Backlot Stunt Coaster definitely did because you can see where they used to be and I remember those well.
-
Has anyone else noticed that the fans with mist are disappearing from several of the queues. I noticed fans missing from Delirium, Stunt Coaster, Fllight Deck, and The Racer to name a few. Are they removing fans in order to sell more $4 beverages? Those fans really help when its 90+ degrees out.
