I am saddened by the news, although not surprised. I thought winterfest was a great showcase for PKI's potential of being a great theme park. I hope that Cedarfair gives it another chance in the upcoming years. I would bet that Cedarfair looked at the numbers, and looked at the amount of work needed to rebraned the parks this winter and made a fairly easy choice to cancell it for this season.

I think we are all missing the obvious announcement here. PKI is obviously going to announce that the repairs on Delerium are scheduled to be completed this winter, and then all the speculation of when it will open again will end. Just my two cents from the hints that were dropped to me by some people who work at the park, but if I had to guess the July 25th announcement will be just for the return of Winterfest, and we will see a later announcement for the 2006 addition. If I had to guess when that will be I'd say that it could be made right around the close of the Nickelodeon Celebration parade.

Great update, I really enjoyed the winterfest video. Did anyone else notice to detailing in the building? The one shot in the beginning of the film showed all the detail painting that they once had.

Here is an article on Cincinnati.com from the Enquirer about the Eagles leaving the park. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/10/1...ngeagles12.html

The best thing you can do is to swamp PKI's guest relations with complaints about the rides removal over the next two weeks. Every complaint has to be answered by the park, and if they get swamped the higher ups will know about it. Let people know in the park that they are leaving and to go up to front gate guest relations to file a complaint about the decision. PKI listens to its customers, and if enough file formal complaints they may take a second look. But it is up to you, if you're at the park this weekend get as many people as you can to go up and file a formal complaint. This is the Flyers only hope.

I really hope they are not for advertisements. The only two I have seen are next to Yogi and Fred entering HB and they are rather large pads. I asked a couple coworkers and none of them had a clue. I am sure we will all find out soon enough what they are for.

I understand that the decision supposedly came from higher up then PKI management, but if it did why does PGA still have Slim Time Live this year? Just one comment about the shows in general, although I have not yet seen the tuned in show, PKI's show selection this year is pretty weak. No kids show, the magic of the movies getting so so reviews, and Karaoke renamed to Star Search Live is not that impressive.

The new sign has not been constructed yet. I am not for sure what the hold up is, but so far no new sign for PKI.

I was looking at the other Paramount Parks websites and noticed that Great America still has Slim Time Live for this season, along with Meet the Nicktoons Live. Does anyone know why PKI removed Slime Time Live this year since it was such a popular show? I have heard some rumors as to why, but seeing that it is showing at PGA kind of hurts the validity of them. Overall PKI's entertainment line up this year is pretty week, I just hope Tuned In is worth seeing.

I have to agree with you CoasterRZ. I went to check out the show today, since I got the night off of work and disappointed in it. It did seem more like advertisement for paramount rather then a show for the guest. The trivia before the show made me feel like I was in every theater in the country. The actual show was ok, but not up to what it needs to be to be the major show in the park. Theater now is nice and looks to be able to put on a very good magic of the movies show, but this one is worth seeing one time and one time only. Unfortunately I have a feeling that we will be seeing magic of the movie for the next couple of years, I doubt Paramount will want to spend money on a new show each year.

Cinweekly has put together an article on area attractions for your enjoyment this summer. The article includes a section Paramount's Kings Island, The Beach, Coney Island, and rollercoasters. Click Here to check it out.

There is an article on cincinnati.com about the additions to The Beast for it's 25th birthday. The Beast I was just wondering what people thought of the new additions to The Beast. I personally was disappointed, the sings were small out in front, The signs in the station were nice, but nothing to write home about, and the sounds effects going up the lifts were barely audible. Overall I thought they could of gave him a much better, classier birthday present. I mean the only sign that even mentions it's 25 is on the photo both.I am hoping that this past weekend not all the bells and whistles were ready, and that we will see improvements in the next couple of weeks.

Incase anyone was planning on going to PKI this afternoon/evening the park will be closing today at 5pm due to cold temperatures, and very low attendance.

Why do we as guest allow an ok to good job on maintaining details? I think that we should hold the park to the high standard that it claims it wants to achieve. I am not asking for PKI to install and maintain Disney still rides, I know that just isn't practical. But if you are going to install a ride with certain themeing elements, keep them and maintain them for future guest to enjoy. I love PKI and think it is an awesome park, but when it comes to some of the details, that could make this park truly great. I feel PKI overlooks them. ei. Festhause, oktoberfest, top gun, ae. international street, The Beast, Action Zone(Adventure Village). All of these areas/rides once had much more character to them. but through the years KI/PKI has let the details vanish.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the lights on International Street. I know when they were removed 2 years ago it was rumor that they would be replaced the following year, along with new fountain lights, and Eiffel Tower lights. Well none of that has happened yet. (The fountain was refurbished, but used the same lights) So do you think we will ever see the lights back on IS? I hope so they added a lot to the look and feel of the park at night. Based on PKI's very poor history of maintaining the small detail things I doubt that we will ever see them again.

Cedar Fair to acquire Six Flags Worlds of Adventur
PKI_flyer replied to AllenAmazon's topic in Kings Island
The way I see it, CF buying SFWOA is good for PKI. CF kept mentioning in their press conference that the park is going to be run as a traditional amusement park, and run as a one-day park. I see this as a plus for PKI, they no longer have the threat of a third major theme park in Ohio. This is just my opinion, but I think CF saw the potential SF had with this park to one day become a major player in this region, and while SFWOA was down CF took advantage and bought it to eliminate future competition. I do not see the new park becoming a large park like Cedar Point or PKI. Instead I see CF running it was a smaller area amusement park for Cleveland and Akron areas. Things may change in the future, but I think at least for the next couple of years Geauga Lake will go back to it’s roots and remain a smaller park. -
I for one think the eiffel tower is in need of some serious painting. How can you not notice the rather large rust spots on it, the chipping paint, and the very faded paint. As far as guest not noticing it, they do, working at PKI this past season I had several guest mention the rust and the poor appearance of the Eiffel Tower, so one can assume many more were walking past it thinking it.

I see nothing wrong with companies sponsoring rides, as long as it is done in quality way the fits into the themeing of the ride. Quality being the key word, if sponsoring means doing what they did to the festhaus with Coke, and the antique cars with John Nolan, then I say no sponsorship please. I mean Disney has been able to pull off corporate sponsorship of their rides for years.

What about a screaming squirrel family coaster?

I don't think PKI will not be a getting a S&S product anytime soon, having spoken to couple PKI upper management people they are not impressed with any of Stan's products. -
I don't think we will ever see PKI return to what it was back in the 80's with themed lands, and rides that fit into each section. With that said I do think PKI is working to improve the theming of the park. I think the past couple years they have realized that they need to improve in that department and have been doing it, slowly. The problem as I see it is today's economy, it is not about investing for the future, but what the current bottom line is. Across the board details are considered unimportant, just look at Disney lately, the theming of their rides is no where near what it used to be. (ie Dinoramo) I think PKI is trying to improve, but corporate America depends profit, and to get profit PKI needs to keep building new attractions to bring in guest, and therefore can't spend a lot on general upkeep. I think it would be great for PKI to take a year off and just fix everything in the park, but we all know that is never going to happen. So let's just be happy that they are trying with what they have. I mean this off season may bring an updated TR:TR and Top Gun improvements. I just hope in the near future the main entrance and International Street get some much need improvements. all of the building and the Eiffel Tower are starting to show their age, and at night the lighting is just sad. And one more thing please PKI remove the ivy from buildings on IS, we all know it is not good for the buildings.

All season pass holders will get admission into fearfest this year. Unlike previous years Fearfest is not a separate admission, it is included in the park admission. The park will be open Saturday (10am-midnight) and Sundays (10-10) this fall with the haunted houses opening up around dusk. All rides and attractions will be open except Hanana Barbara land and Nickelodeon will close around 7 pm. I hope this information helps.

PKI spent about 40 mill in 99 and 00 in Action Zone (face off, drop zone, SOB and the retheame.). I would probably guess PKI has a yearly budget of around 25 mill. This would include new rides, park upkeep and maintenance. Remember a lot goes on that you don't realize, like this past year the park did a complete renovation of the fountain. So when PKI doesn't spend a lot on a new attraction may not mean they have a small budget for that year.
-
Ok if this is a water park expansion like what is rumored, I think PKI may be hurting themselves by saying waterworks is closing for good. Season Pass sales could be hurt by this news as some of the general public decide not to renew or get a pass because they think the water park will be no more next year.

Yeah I noticed the same thing on those towels. They were on the cart up by girl's space right?
