How is it Nickelodeon's name will be gone if they have a contract? Also what would it be changed to?
-
I don't think BB will go anywhere. It is a great water park. My family has been to a few and they don't even compare to BB. I have also looked online at Cedar Point and Six Flags Great America, and they don't even compare. From experience, and by looking at water parks online, I haven't found one that would even come close to BB. Has anyone else????? My sons really enjoyed the surf simulator which we have not found anywhere else. In fact my sons ( 19 & 17) liked the waterpark more than the amusement park. If anything just keep adding slides!

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
stremmefan replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Strange story: I was staying at the Amerisuite Hotel getting ready to take my family to KI for the first time. I've been there alot back in the day, but it was their first time. My boys (19 & 17) aren't very big amusement park fans, and my 19 & 10 year old daughters have only been to local fairs. All were afraid to ride coasters or any big rides. All they ever heard me brag about is KI. I wanted to show them a part of what I enjoyed growing up. We were all getting ready at the hotel to leave and the story about the girl at SFKK came on the news, and yes it was Friday, June 21st. You talk about more fear in kids. Still the only rides I could get them on was Fairly Odd Parents, Italian Job, and Tomb raider. Thats the biggest they would go. The fav being the Italian Job. They all enjoyed themselves, and said it was awesome, like a minature Disney Land. We are going back in 2008. -
Yeah, Rivertown was great, and KCKC was an awesome water ride. I use to ride it over and over every time I came to KI. In fact, I miss the look of alot of things in the park. But as time goes on, everything changes. The main things I wish they would bring back is KCKC, The Bat, The scenery for the train ride, Enchanted Voyage, and the H-B Characters. If them things were added into what the park is today the park would be awesome. It is now, don't get me wrong, but it would be alot better.

Besides Ki of course being the best, is there any more amusement and/or waterparks in the mid-west that are GREAT? Do not tell me Cedar Point or Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. Been to both and don't care for either one of them. Thinking about Michigan's Great Adventure, because I've never been there. I know it doesn't compare to KI. Also don't tell me Indiana Beach. I take my family on a few trips per summer. King's Island is one of course. Also does anyone know of a waterpark with a surf simulator besides KI? I'm from South Bend so I don't want to go all that far. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Is the SOB going to be running this year? I was there towards the end of June last year and it wasn't running. when did they start it back up last year? Are all the problems taken care of?

What is an Arrow Hydroflume. Is that who makes it, or is that the type of ride it is? What is Congo Falls?

Emphasis supplied Not AT or IN, but NEAR...which means not in but close to.... So, no, they do NOT have it listed as being in Nickelodeon Universe...near is not in or at...it's close to, a whole different concept. YES, IT DOES! your on the right page just go all the way to the bottom where it says LOCATION: NICK UNIVERSE
-
Water rides are great. They should put more in at KI. Maybe one that resembles KC.
-
I was looking on KI website for info on this year, and they have the Scooby Doo haunted house listed as being in Nick Universe. If you bring up the ride and hit more> thats where it is. Why isn't it listed as International street? At the very bottom for location: Nick Universe

From what I can see on the internet, GWL looks like a very nice place, but very expensive to stay there. When I bring my family of 6 from South Bend to KI, I get a motel room for 3 nights. One day we go to the amusement park, and the 2nd day we enjoy the waterpark. There isn't alot of motels that can accomodate a family of 6 into one room. I know GWL can. Last year we stayed at Amerisuites which was ok. At least they gave free hot breakfast, which for my family saved us some $. This year our reservation is at Double Tree. Has anyone stayed there? How is it? I would love to stay at GWL, but I can't afford to turn a $1,500 vacation into a $2,000 vacation.

Same here. I came to KI last year for the first time in awhile. I kept thinking Wild thornberrys was the water ride I liked most, until I rode it. I then kept looking for more water rides because I then knew thornberrys was not the water ride I use to ride over and over everytime I came to KI. So its been haunting me for awhile. It was Kenton's Cove I was looking for. That was a great water ride. I remember riding that and The Bat over and over. Everytime I came to KI, KC was always the ride I looked forward to. Why did they take it out?
-
Thanks! I was curious.
-
I'm not sure, but didn't KI have another water (log) ride in the past? If so, does anyone remember when and the name of it?
-
I seen online that the Great Wolf Lodge located in the waterpark at Ki has an indoor waterpark. Is this right? Are the people visiting the park able to enjoy the indoor waterpark, or is this just for the visitors to the lodge?

Well said. I also pointed out the option to keep Nick in Nick universe, and H-B on international street. I believe KI is for children and adults of ALL ages. Alot of people from all eras love H-B, and the kids of today (especially 2-7) like Nick. I think KI keeping H-B around keeps around alot of KI history. H-B is still very much alive-LOOK movies are coming out. So WHY take them out completely? This would be the time to bring some of them back.
-
Has the licensing ran out completely with H-B? I read that it didn't expire until 2009 unless their info is wrong? If so they could try it out with the patrons and then decide whether or not to pay for the licensing. Then they themselves would be able to tell what works with the patrons. Both? Or just Nick??? Then of course as you said Time Warner has to be willing too. I'm not the only one that would love to see H-B back. There are alot of people on this forum that would love to see it happen too.

Scooby and The Haunted Castle had to offically move from HB Land to International Street when Nick Universe debuted. Viacom, the owner of Nick, will NOT allow its characters to be diluted by mixing them with others. It is NOT allowed. Period. Ok, how about this as an option? Keep Nick universe all Nick, and since Scooby is moved to international street, can't the H-B characters be part of international street also? Even if its only a few of them, such as the most popular ones?

I read this forum as you do, except I pay attention to what these people say, and you just put the people down for what they want or believe in. As far as seeing into the future, I'm psychic. LOL
-
-I'll let that speak for itself. -As has been stated, the parks are catering to what PEOPLE WANT.....and that is Nickelodeon. -I have, and it is still a place for kids and adults......a place without HB. -Not necessarily, major parks come and go look at Americana, Astroworld, and Geauga Lake! Right now, KI is a very successful park, will it be in the future? You, nor i, nor interpreter have any crystal ball to show that. -Yes a lot do believe that, but a lot more come for the all Nickelodeon themed kids area. -You said you own a business, you should know what marketing research is, its their way of knowing what the public wants, not just how they think. The park is far from catering to what people want. Ki is very successful because of how it was before Cedar Fair. If it falls apart its because of Cedar Fair. What happened to Geauga Lake? I could be wrong, but wasn't that Cedar Fair? Whats gonna happen in a couple years when Nick isn't so popular. KI could at least keep the popular H-B characters with the Nick so when that happens, which it will , they have both.
-
All you need to know is I do not own an amusement park. A poll on this internet site is people that Do go to KI. Its not just any internet site. Alot of these people have been going to KI for a very long time. People like you and the interpeter sound like people that are in with Cedar Fair or Paramount, and don't care what the people want either. I have always agreed that changes are always gonna take place. You don't have to kill off H-B. KI is a place for children and ADULTS of ALL AGES. Keep that in mind. And Yes, KI will always do great no matter what. Not because of the changes that are made by Cedar Fair or Paramount, but because of what KI is and always has been. Alot of people believe it should be Nick and H-B, whats wrong with combining the two?

Indiana Beach Sold

OH GREAT! More new business owners trying to come in and change things to the way they want to make things. Forget what the patrons want. -
I know business owners know best when operating a business-I'M A BUSINESS OWNER, and a very BIG business owner, so you really can't tell me much there. When new business owners come in and replace old business owners they try to make changes they think are gonna change the previous way of operating into "their way" without considering the last 32 years of how it was ran, and how the patrons feel about the place they have been visiting for 32 years. Look at the poll so far, only about 6 people are willing to let H-B die. If more people voted (give it time) they will keep voting for H-B, combined with Nick. Thats what the people want. But to you, it doesn't matter what the people want. It only matters what the new business owners want!

Park seems to be doing fine and has done fine since. You don't seem to understand that things change and business trends change. If that was the best thing to do they probably would have kept it that way.....they didn't. The park is doing fine, yes. Of course, it will always do fine, its KI. As for the 2nd statement, "they" is just a company that wanted to come in and change things just to make things different. It doesn't make it best because "they" decided it. The people that have visited the park and have loved the park during its years of operation are the ones that know best.
