  1. Back in the day KI was all Hanna Barbera characters. In my opinion I wish it would have stayed that way. SCOOBY AND FRIENDS ROCK!!!! Where the scooby doo haunted house is now use to be THE SMUFS ENCHANTED VOYAGE it was awesome.I think they should of kept that and if anything had to change just change the theme. But keep the voyage. Also still to this day alot of kids still enjoy hanna Barbara. My children loves them more than any other cartoon characters, and so do my neices and nephews. They all ranges between the ages of 3 and 19. I think Hanna Barbara should be kept alive. Nickolodein will not live no where as long. PLEASE KI GO BACK TO SCOOBY AND HIS FRIENDS!
  2. Oh, that's just terrible! That was a fun ride! You are saying that they just let it go to @$#*??????????? That sucks! KI should have kept The Screamin Demon. Maybe they should have had an "old time ride area" then if they thought they had to scrap a ride, they could stick it in that area. I think they would be surprised as to how many people would hang out in the "old rides" area. The Zodiac, Screamin Demon, Bavarian Beetle, flying eagles, der spinnin' keggers, the flying Dutchman, Ferris Wheel, Les Taxis, and the Animal Safari. The "Old Ride Area" that is what they should have done. It might sound goofy, but that's what I wish they had done. I am just running on. I just miss those rides. Awwwww...................... I don't like rides to be demolished. Sad. I agree, it is shameful that Screamin Demon was treated poorly. I totally agree with you. They should of had an old ride area. That would be awesome. Lets also add The Bat, The witches cauldrons, and The Smurfs enchanted Voyage. They did take out some great rides. They added some great ones too, but I also greatly miss the old ones, including how the train ride use to be. Change sometimes SUCKS! Also how about the old time shops in River town? Everything is now food stops and games. Come on KI, put back some of the OLD!!!!!
  3. I AGREE! I LOVED THEM BOTH! TOO BAD THEY ARE GONE!
  4. I can sympathize with you because KD has changed A LOT since my first trip there in the early 80's.Gone are the following rides: Octopus, apple turnover, flying bobs, vertigo, flying dutchman(now located at SFA),diamond falls, sky pilot, all of the rides in the mountain(mine train, time shaft, haunted river,MT. Kilimanjaro) all for a mediocre & short inverted launch coaster, the Galaxi & King Kobra coasters & then there's the disgraceful changes to kidzville with the removal of the wacky wheels raceway & the king of all sacralidges...the retheming of yogi's cave to treasure cave about ten years ago. Of course however times change & we must be willing to adapt to those changes, but ONE thing that doesn't change is our childhood memories of these parks from our first visits all the way throug hto our adult years....that's something that time, along with change can never take away from us. TRUE, SO TRUE!!!!!!!
  5. First of all ND sucks! (My mother in law works there), Silver beach isn't in South Bend, and Hacienda is where my daughter works. I am from over by the airport so if your up here every couple of months you know that area has been going throiugh ALOT of changes. The weather up here isn't too bad. Indy is way to busy for me, along with alot more crime. The only good things about Indy is the Brickyard, and White Castle. Also it's half way to KI from here and I would be able to go alot more often. lol
  6. JUST LIKE THE CURRENT RIDE NAME CHANGES, HUH! lol
  7. Let me assure you I am one of the ones that cherish and adore the train. What they had before in the train ride made it ALOT more enjoyable. They won't remove it anyway. Now it just seems like an alternate way for visitors to get to the waterpark. When I was on the train last year another lady was also concerned as to why they took everything out. They left about 2 - 3 things and took the rest out. WHY???? She also thought it made the train ride boring. So I'm sure i'm not the only one. I think the train ride is as important as the Eiffel Tower. But since I noticed the changes. I won't go on it unless I'm trying to get to the water park.
  8. Who's to say that KI is not a vacation destination? To me it is. I live in South Bend, IN. It isn't a drive to make all the time. I took my family of 6 on vacation to KI to give them the enjoyment of my youth. I wanted to give them a part of what I enjoyed. KI was always an awesome vacation spot to me. I spent over $1500 to do this as I live on a limited income. Yes, my family enjoyed it, and want to go again. I just wanted to point out that back in the day KI was a much more awesome amusement park than it is today. Not that I want to speak for AZ, but, what I think he was getting at is KI is not a resort destination like Cedar Point. You can basically do everything KI has to offer in a day. CP, it takes 2-3 days to do it all. AZ can correct me if I'm wrong. For CP, they really don't sell all that many season passes, especially compared to KI. CP relies more on those who buy resort packages and stay for 2-3 days. When I took my family to KI it took us 2 days to ride everything. The 1st day the weather was not the greatest--no rain, but crappy enough to keep the crowd away. NO LINES----S-W-E-E-T! The 2nd day was the water park, then back to the amusement park later in the day. Both days we were there open to close. We still could of stayed another day and enjoyed it. So there is no way to do it in one day!
  9. I LOVE SOUTH BEND! I would NEVER live anywhere else. Time does not stand still anywhere. Where I live in South Bend there has been changes after changes. Have you been here lately? I'm not shocked to see changes at KI, in fact some of the changes were good. The water park is EXCELLENT. They have also put in some great rides. The majority of the changes were NOT so good. There seems to be less rides, they took out alot of the good rides, along with alot of the good children's rides. Look at the Smurf's Enchanted Voyage. That was an excellent ride. They didn't have to take it out, they could of just changed the theme. Now its the Scooby Doo haunted house--BORING. Look at the train ride. At one time there was alot of educational scenery, now it's BORING. Just a ride pass a water ride through the trees to the water park. Why take the scenery out? If thats the case, shorten the track and add more children's rides for the little bit older kids. Not all visitors are coaster riders nor are they between the ages of 2 & 5. Add more water rides. That would be GREAT! What about all the cool shops in Rivertown. Everything is either food shops or games now. Its not the changes that I'm against. I understand changes are made all over. I LOVE KI and to me its the best. Its just not as GREAT as it use to be. Also Hanna Barbera has the BEST characters. KEEP THEM AROUND!!!!!

  11. I like the go carts. No need to take them out. If the Son of Beast is always down and not very safe then that should come down. I'm sure they can come up with another coaster to replace it. Even though the train ride to the water park is a part of King's Island history (as is the Eiffel Tower), they have done a good job at ruining it over the years. They took out all the good scenery. What is a train ride without the scenery? Either put the scenery back or just make the train ride directly to the water park, and use the extra space for more childrens rides. How about changing the scooby doo haunted house back into the Smurfs enchanted voyage or similar, and add more variety to the children's rides. Not just for small kids, but also a little bigger rides like the rugrats runaway raptor(something for the in between) Not everyone is coaster riders, and not everyone is between 2 & 5. Also I like the White Water ride, I like ALL water rides, please don't do away with them. In fact, ADD MORE!!! As far as removing rides, unless they are dangerous or NO ONE rides them there is NO reason to remove them. The more rides the better. Fill the spaces, keep adding them. BIGGER CROWDS, MORE MONEY, SHORTER LINES! One more thing, BRING THE HANNA BARBERA CHARACTERS BACK!!!!!
  12. I agree with you. BRING BACK KING"S ISLAND HISTORY! Some of the changes were good, but more of the changes were NOT! Bring back all Hanna Barbara characters, the pioneer train ride, the old timer shops, the Hanna Barbara Land which is now The Scooby Doo Haunted House, The Witches cauldron, The parking lot trolley. Some of the past is still there, but alot of it left and needs to be brought back.
  13. THE ITALIAN STUNT JOB IS A GREAT RIDE! Its especially good for the kids that are afraid of the big coasters. Not all people are big coaster riders. Its good to have a variety. For the variety thats a GREAT ride!!!!!
  14. I have only been to King's Island 5 times. 1979, 1981, 1983, 1991, and 2007. The first few times I was at King's Island it was awesome. When it was all Hanna Barbara Characters. The characters were also posted as signs in the parking lot so you knew where you parked along with a trolly that took you back and forth. The rides were even alot better then too, especially the childrens rides. The scooby doo haunted house was a Hanna Barbara land where you went through it like a tunnel of love type ride--IT WAS AWESOME. The Train ride was so much more. It was full of pioneer type stuff. When I took my children last year I was devastated. They took out everything basically. WHY????? Also what ever happened to the shops that sold real leather stuff? I believe it was in River Town. Now its all food shops and games. I understand things change and are updated, but what King's Island was back then is much better than it is today. The changes definitely were NOT for the better, except for the Water Park, and a couple of the rides. I know Nicolodeon characters are the now, but Hanna Barbara will never die, and is much better. Sometimes changes aren't better. Whoever made the changes whether it was Cedar Fair or whoever needs to look back at what it was and change it back. Keep the good rides that have been added, add back the good ones that were great back then including the witches cauldron and the Hanna Barbara land. They should bring back all the Hanna characters and send Dora over to Cedar Point. Bring back all the good shops they use to have. Bring back the Hanna signs in the parking lot instead of the coaster signs, and bring back the trolly. Also PLEASE put the train ride back. It was educational along with enjoying. SCOOBY AND HIS FRIENDS ROCK!

  16. II I am not a visitor to the park on a daily basis. I have only been there a handful of times. 1979, 1981, 1983, 1990, and 2007. I love King's Island. My favorite all time roller coaster was The Bat. No matter why it didn't succeed it was still awesome. It's just too bad the problems couldn't be worked out and it had to be retired.
