  1. There is a Best Buy planned for the Lebanon area. Not sure if this is the same development we are speaking of.

I work for Best Buy. I wouldn't think that they would build one in Lebanon seeing there is one near Kings Automall, less than 10 miles away. I do know there is one coming to Colerain (less than 10 miles from Tri-County), opening next month and have heard about one in Newport and Kenwood. It would be more feasible to put one up near Wilmington instead...

  2. It's been awhile since I've posted any trip reports due to work and other events going on, so here goes....

    Sunday June 29:

We arrived to Kings Island around 3:00pm, just in time for the Soap Opera Q&A. We would have been there earlier hadn't it been for a three car wreck on I-71 south of Kings Island Dr. I came with my Mom, Stepdad, and Sister and the women in our group love the Young and the Restless so the Soap Opera Q&A were high on their list for the day. While the women were at the Q&A, me and my Stepdad went up 275ft to check out the construction of the B&M hyper. After the Q&A ended, we started in Rivertown and The Beast was the first ride of the day. My Mom and Stepdad hasn't been on The Beast in a good 15-20 years. We waited about 25 minutes to get on and they said it was rougher than they ever remember. Next up was The Racer. Me and my Sister got on the Red Racer, and my Mom and Stepdad got on the Blue Racer. They beat us, just because we were on the brakes while another train was being loaded up right in front of us. After The Racer, we went to Flight Deck. Mom has never been on this ride, and by the time we got off, she vowed never again to ride it. "That ride was The Bat. They kept the track and trains in storage until they built it here, I don't care what you say!" were her exact words. After this, it was about 8:00pm and I was quite tired, so we left for the day.

    Sunday July 13:

I had a meeting at work earlier in the morning, so on my way home from work, I decided to drive by CSF in Batavia and saw red track and a maroon colored track laying outside. I had my camera with me and would have taken pictures if there weren't workers outside. After getting home and getting family pictures taken around noon, the clan decided to go to Kings Island for a couple of hours. We arrived around 4:00pm and started off in Nickelodeon Universe. My Sister wanted to do Runaway Reptar and she wanted me to tag along, which I did. Wait was about 10 minutes and the ride was boring in my opinion. Next up was the Wild Thornberries Log Flume, and was a walk on. After this, my Sister met up with one of her friends and went for two rounds on White Water Canyon. I went for one round and the next round had me at the cannons. Payback was on the horizon and they got theirs. After this was the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad. I was amazed at the progress being made in the ravine back there. After this was The Beast, it was almost dark at this point and wait time was 15 minutes but the line was quickly growing once we were in line. This time was the roughest I have ever noticed it. After this, we were going to ride The Vortex but was broken down. The attendant at the entrance was talking about Vortex being the tallest steel coaster in the world, which I know is not true. He also said something about the new coaster having a 275ft. first drop, and how Firehawk is going to be gone in two years because it's the only ride in the park that has the most money spent on it maintenance-wise. I was going to ask him if he knew when the park would make an official announcement about the new coaster but I forgot to. After this, we went to the Red Racer and was a 5 minute wait. Blue Racer wasn't running tonight. After this, my Sister and her friend did Delirium and Firehawk but I sat this one out because I was tired. We left right before the fireworks began.

More TR's to come as I get the chance to venture out to Kings Island...

  3. DeLorean Rider, judging from your picture and your post above...would this SkyFlyer be at Old Town?

If that's not the one I'm thinking- there's another one on International Drive near Sand Lake, if I'm not mistaken.

  4. I haven't used any of the Gold Pass perks yet other than the free parking. I forgot that Tuesday was double rides on The Beast.

Also, on Firehawk, when the attendant checked my restraint, he said check, and then all of a sudden it popped open. Scary!

  5. Took a trip to the Island of Kings with some people from work yesterday (6/24/08) and had an absolute blast!

We arrived at the front gate at about 12:45pm, and were greeted to "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. Our group, about 7 or 8 of us, met up right in front of the fountain while I went to Guest Relations to get a special pass for somebody in our group that was handicapped.

The first ride we headed to was Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. I did not ride this, but the handicapped person in our group rode it. This is her absolute favorite ride, and the only reason she wanted to come with us to Kings Island! She got right on without any waiting.

Next up was The Crypt. I have seen many times on this board that since Cedar Fair bought the Paramount Parks, they have no theming to their rides. I have never been on this ride until now, but I will tell you that it is pitch black and there's no special effects or anything in this ride. Overall it was a good ride, however I felt like I was falling out of my seat. Wait time was about 20 minutes.

The Beast was next. Nobody in my group believed me when I said this, but this was my first time on The Beast. I'm almost 21, been to Kings Island for years, and never rode The Beast until now. By the time we got back to the station, I was about ready to get off, and get back in line! That is no doubt the best coaster I have ever ridden. The ride operators were very energetic! Wait time was only 10-15 minutes.

We then went to Backlot Stunt Coaster. For my second time on it this season, it was better than it was before. The helicopter was shooting and there was fire, unlike last time. The spiel before you were launched did not play however. Wait time 15 minutes.

After this, some people in the group headed over to Vortex and some headed over to the Scrambler. I chose the latter. I rode the Scrambler with the handicapped person in our group, and the Scrambler was fun as always. Wait time 10 minutes. After the Scrambler we met up with the people that rode Vortex. Turns out that they were in the front seats and one of the people in our group had a snack with red eyes and wings, you guessed it....Cicada!

After we met up and became one whole group, we went to the Festhaus where we got some overpriced food. $15 bought someone in our group two slices of LaRosa's, an order of breadsticks, and a large soda. Yikes!

After this, a couple of people with cast iron stomachs decided to ride Delirium. I did not ride this, because I just ate some overpriced LaRosa's. The line went quick for them, they were on in three cycles!

Next up was Flight Deck. It was a walk-on and was my first time riding it. Most of the people in our group had ridden in before and complained about the lack of theming. Everybody missed the billboard that used to be in the ride queue.

Next was Son of Beast. The swinging of the cars on Flight Deck got me a little queazy so I sat out this one. They got in line and they were on quick, 10 or 15 minutes at the most.

Next was Adventure Express. Always a good ride to cool off of the bigger rides. No line on this one.

After that, Firehawk was calling. I've never been on it and our group waited a good 45 minutes to an hour to get on...boy was that wait worth it!

That's about it for my first trip report....sorry it was so long. My gold pass has already paid for itself. I have been to Kings Island 3 times total this season, and saw Robbie Knievel jump. I will be at the park more and more throughout the summer.

  6. I was there and I saw a train with passengers stopped up on the brakes. There were two park employees (one in red, the other in blue) up there examining. While they were up there, an empty train was sent halfway up the lift hill and was stopped. Not sure what caused this but I believe I saw it running later in the evening.

  7. Hey All,

This season will be my first with a pass since 1999, and my first visit since 2003. I bought the gold pass at my local Meijer store, and was wondering about the free parking. We are planning, hopefully mother nature doesn't intervene, on going Sunday. Question is, will I get free parking on Sunday since my pass has not yet been processed? If not, how much can I expect to shell out of the ol' wallet?

Thanks for any help.....look forward to coming back to KI.

    Andrew
