I don`t know if they`ll be that large. Delirium and Scooby were not that large on the 2003 maps. They did have a box above the map that contained there logos and blurb about them. As far as different maps, they produce many different maps throughout the year, to include various events, shows, FearFest, and special season pass pricing.

I kn ow the Eiffel Tower is taller than Son of Beast. However, I`m not sure if the structure of Son of Beast blocks the river valley or not. I think it might not block the river valley and you can see the tower, but I`m not sure. This is one of those things that I wish I could find out by riding to the top of the Eiffel Tower. However, when the park opens, I`ll probably forget all about this thread.

I`m fairly certain that you can see the chimney and the shooting tower from both Drop Zone and the Eiffel Tower. When on Drop Zone, look behind Top Gun and Kings High School, and in the Little Miami River Valley and I think you can see it. I also think you can see it from the Eiffel Tower if you look behind Son of Beast. However, Son of Beast may actually block the view of it from the Eiffel Tower, as I`ve never looked specifically for it before.

Seeing as how PKI is Paramount`s flagship park, and the most visited of all the parks owned or managed by them, I would say that PKI is the most famous. However, it all depends where and to whom you ask that question. If you ask a local in Charlotte, NC, the same question, they might say PC because they`ve neve heard of the other Paramount Parks. The same example can be used for all of the param ount parks. But generally, PKI has been known for its record breaking duo of wood coasters, which has gained it attention for almost 25 years now, helping to make it one of the most famous Paramount Parks. Also, one reason it has a large attendance is that something like 50% of the country`s population lives within 500 miles of the park. I heard that in a newsarticle talking about the park`s attendance once a long time ago.

Which means that its removal is only buying extra time for the other two stand up coasters. Eventually the KC parts will wear out on the other two stand-ups and then they`ll have to either fork over big buccks to get the parts or sracp those stand ups as well.

How Exactly is a Wooden Coaster Built?( Arch)
coasterrz replied to PKICoasterFreek's topic in Kings Island
That is correct fyrfyter. The only thing that the architect would be involved with is possibly the station. And as stated above, the station is a simple enough structure that they probably didn`t even need an architect to design it. I do know that they used an architect for TR:TR`s building and they worked with Paramount Parks Design and Entertainment to intergate the theme into the building. Also, the renovation of Bubba Gumps Shrimp Shack was designed by Jack Rouse and Associate architects, who are based in Cincinnati. I also believe they did the transformation of the former skyride station into Animation Station in Hanna Barbera Land. They also are designing the new Reds Museum at Great American Ball Park which will open with the 2004 season. -
While it makes sense from the park`s perspective, I think there price tag of $1.1 million was a little high, based on the lack of availability of replacement parts, which was the reason it was removes. The park bought the ride for $3 million dollars after first riding it in Japan. It is my understanding that it was built in 1983 and KI executives rode it over there. Liking the ride, they bought it and it was shipped over to KI. I think that is what i saw on a website once or heard John Keeter mention that on the forums once somewhere.

The weather forcast for tomorrow calls for rain changing into snow and I heard that another event, possibly even bigger might happen Wednesday and Thursday of next week. So it doesn`t look like it will hold. Besides, what is winter in Cincinnati without at least one major/measurable snowfall?

I always found that odd that Premier purchased them and did not continue to manufacture spare parts for their rides. Maybe it is because there simply aren`t enough of them operating in the US to make that finanacially sound. Also, some parks probably don`t want to deal with the high maintenance costs for a mediocre ride. I loved king Cobra and wish it was still there and that they would have built Delirium on undeveloped land, but oh well. To quote Al Weber from 1997 when he GM of Kings Island, "The park will be different in the future, we jut don`t know what shape it will take." (or something similar to that.)

I don`t know how much architects are involved with the building of a wooden coaster. They might be responsible for the station design. I`m in my first year of architecture school at UC. I think most of the design is done by engineers at firms dedicated to designing and building wooden coasters, such as Great Coasters International. -
Did I just imagine it or did someone post a similar related thing in another topic. I can`t remember it right now, but I know it was in another thread that wasn`t dedicated entirely to the theme. Also, it was in response to the topic in which it was posted, but right now my mind is drawing a blank as to what topic it was in.

It takes a lot of time and money to run a website. Just ask Aaron. Also, since he had a kid, obviously, his priority is his family and not some site he runs about a nearby amusement park.

What about a screaming squirrel family coaster?
coasterrz replied to PKI Homey's topic in Coming Attractions
Very true. I would imaginee that these rides would not be marketed so much to the big themers, but would be like existing wild moouse rides; affordable to smaller parks. I would think that this ride would fit perfectly for a place like Coney Island, though I doubt that they have the funds to purchase a ride like this. However, the ride they purchased for this season, the Frog Hopper, was purchased from S&S. -

I think it could make for an interesting addition. I`m not sure about the capacity of it, which would probably be similar to other mouse coasters, which is low. I think it could work if they installed it on the former location of the Saltwater Circus. They need to put in some sort of ride there as that path way is always dead since they closed the Ohio Overland auto Livery, aka, the Rivertown station of the Antique Cars. What ever happened to thos cars? Are they used for replacement cars for the current 17 on the flip side? -
I seem to remember hearing the same thing italianchef. It was a good site, while it lasted, and even contained a history section which I wrote. Oh, well, at least we still have this PKI site to keep us entertained!

Acutallu, on Top Gun when a train returns to the station it does say "Gillete Mach 3 hopes you enjoyed your ride aboard Top Gun."
-
That is indeed why they are closed in the offseason, to fix things. However, I have heard rumblings that some portions of the park and some rides may be open for the return of a Winter celebration that used to be known as Winterfest. I hope Winterfest does indeed come back, but only time will tell if it will. It would sure make the offseason go by faster if you could grab a ride on TR:TR, the Carousel, Dodgems, and Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle in the end of December!

Actually, if I`m not mistaken, the bottled water company sponsors all the log flumes at ALL the Six Flags Parks in America, if not the world. Hopefully, PKI doesn`t stoop to that level of corporate sponsorship. Can you imagine ridin Vortex, sponsored by Advil, LOL? Or how about Scrambler sponsorde by Eggland`s best eggs? Antique Cars are already sponsored by John Nolan Ford. Hopefully, The Beast won`t have to be advetised by a pesticide control company.

Hmmm. I don`t recall any other movies/television shows besides The Brady Bunch (filmed in `73), which I`ve seen and the Partridge Family (filmed in `72) which I`ve never seen.

Welcome to the phenomoena known as Cincinnati weather! Actually, when I headed off to lunch today, it was lightly snowing, just barely flurrries even.
-
Actually, media day might be two weekends before the official opening of BB, as the weekend before might be a season pass/enthusiasts sneak peak of BB before it opens to the GP.

The thing that will be "discovered" will not be a ride built for next season, instead, you can "explore" this "new" attraction when the park opens in April. You were on the tour, right? Then you should know what thing will need to be "re-explored" for next season.
-
With this Cincinnati weather, this weekend felt like coaster riding weather, even though its almost the middle of November. Today was in the mid 60`s and felt like spring. Its days like today that I wish the park would still be open to ride the rides. Today was in the mid 60`s and felt like spring. Too bad it wasn`t because then PKI would be gearing up for operation instead of preparing for winter maintenance. Don`t count on the warm weather to last, because as Cincinnati weather typically changes, tomorrow`s high is supposed to be 43 with snow by 5pm. Crazy, almost 70 one day and then 40`s and snow the next. Welcome to the crazy world of Cincinnati weather!

Yeah, that wuill be weird. But, remember the little hint that Jeff Siebert eluded to that will have to be "discovered" when the ride park opens in April, which will be something new to experience! At least we will have the fairly new Delirium and Scooby to keep us busy until May, as well as celebrating The Beast`s 25th anniversary!

It wasn`t going to go back where Action Theater is, that is just where the proposed entrance would be. The actual ride would be on the other side of The Racer, like Flight of Fear. I actually heard this rumor from Shaggy, which means that it probably was true.
