  1. Yes, those stairs are still there, but they reworked that area, so guests could bypass the stairs and enter the station directly.
  2. True, KCKC was removed in 2001 to make way for TRTR. However, the last couple weeks of 2000, if I remember correctly, KCKC was also closed.
  3. Actually, when you buy yoour passes in the fall it is a $5 upgrad. However, in the past, if you purchase your passes in the spring you do recieve a free upgrade. However, by that point in time, the cost of the pass has gone up by I think $10, so while the park says its free, you are still paying more than what the gold pass holders did in the fall.
  4. But still, seven hours on two days is a lot better then trying to cram in all the pass holders and radio station ticket winners in one five hour night. That was just ugly!
  5. Will this also be the weekend when they give away mass tickets to radio stations? Even if it is, it will be better than the past couple of years when the park was only open for five hours. Even having it open on two days would help that problem. It looks like they wanted to avoid a repeat of this past season`s horrendous preview day. The line for Scooby poured onto International Street and headed towards the Eiffel Tower. However, the line for it was only about 45 minutes. That`s the best news I`ve heard all week! I wouldn`t have been able to attend opening day on Friday anyway because that is Good Friday and UC doesn`t get that day off and I pretty much have class all day on Friday! (The real bummer is my next break is spring break, the last week in March, and then Memorial day in May before classes end in June!)
  6. That is indeed what they are. The park built special trailers for the cars so that they can wheel them around and better move them for mid-winter maintenance.
  7. The last I remember the webcam is when they were building Reptar. Before that it was pointed at the Royal Fountain or Son of Beast. As far as I know, the actual camera is still mounted on top of the Eiffel Tower, however, they do not have it hooked up to the internet site. I know that Jeff Siebert mentioned a redesign/upgrade to the website soon, so maybe they`ll bring it back, but I wouldn`t count on it since it has been down so long. It used to be a good way of guaging how crowded the park was before actually travelling to the park.
  8. I hear you on that one. The music can get old after a while. For example, while working the Ferris Wheel at Coney, the songs in the shows got really repetitive. Which is only logical since each shift I worked the Ferris Wheel, I heard each one of the three shows at least once.
  9. If you don`t mind me asking, why has your computer at work not been fixed? If you are doing any sort of correspondance, it wouldn`t be very professional to have a computer that is stuck in caps lock all the time. Also, I like the music that is played at WW, of course I haven`t been to WW in a couple of seasons. I like all the summer sounding music they play like the Beach Boys.
  10. That concept sounds pretty cool, because the station and part of the line would be air conditioned for those hot summer days. If they do build a ride like this where the track goes outside but the station is inside, it would remind me of the Desperado at Buffalo Bills Casino in Nevado which is an Arrow Hyper with a station inside the casino.
  11. First of all, there are already a lot of topics on this, so why make a new one? Secondly, the Hulk at islands of adventure is a sit-down launched coaster designed by B&M (I believe it might be the only launched coaster B&M has designed) For proof, check out RCDB here.
  12. I don`t think that PKI would install a casino as they only apply to the 21+ crowd. PKI, especially of late, has been going for the families, which aren`t exactlythe people that will flock to casinos. Secondly, I don`t think Ohio will legalize casinos anytime soon.
  13. Well, technically PKI and all Paramount Parks are already home to a Spongebob Squarepants themed ride: Spongebob 3D. While only a simulator in the Iwerks theaters, it is still a ride themed to Spongebob the show, not the movie.
  14. Beastfreak, I was responding to a statement in which someone said that they should consider leasing ouot Timberwolf to an outside company. I don`t see their post right now. I know that park employees run the concessions and security for TImberwolf. I agree, that Timberwolf could at least use a paint job to brighten up the colors to match the rest of the Action Zone. It appears that the park is on a current trend to brighten up colocs in the entire park as the Scrambler is being painted yellow this season.
  15. Da Ripper, you don`t have to shout. That`s a lot of Waterworks! Doesn`t it get a little repetitive if you were at the Water park that much? I personally haven`t been to Water Works in a couple of year. I was going to go this year, but I was going to go up with my cousins and well, they went on a day when I was stuck working down at Coney. Oh well. I never did get to ride those stupid speed slides they removed, but from what I hear, I didn`t miss much! EDIT: This is my 500th post!
  16. Yes, I know the survey said that. But I don`t think that by the time the survey is completed and they get the results, that they would have time to set up a budget, find all the manufacturers and finalize the plans in addition to building the ride on time for opening day 2005. Now of course that could be done, afterall, we are talking about Paramount Parks who have been known to surprise people sometimes. Realistically, I believe that Paramount Parks already know what thebudget for capital expenditures in 2005 will be, or close to it and I`m sure if PKI is getting the big ride that is rumored, that planning is well under way. From what I`ve heard the park wants to be absolutly correct when they pick their next coaster so they don`t have any snafus like when they built SoB.
  17. I`m on the DAAP floor, the seventh floor. I don`t see anything on the park`s website about it yet though. That weekend they have a music festival in the park, so it will already be crowded and then the following weekend is scout weekend. Keep in mind that opening weekend is Easter weekend this year, which is why the park is opening on Friday, April 9. I sure hope they have a season pass preview day, though hopefully not on Thursday (I have class from 6-9) but on the previous weekend or just on Sunday.
  18. For some reason, I don`t see the park selling the rights to have an outside company operate Timberwolf. They have operated it since it was built in 1982. Now the Paladium at Paramount`s Carowinds seems like a very nice ampitheater and if PKI took the time an money to renovate it, it would be nice like that. However, I can`t really compare them since I`ve never been in either one. If the park were to upgrade Timberwolf, it might come out of the capital expenditures budget, which would mean less money for rides. Besides, why would the park sell it when they make loads of money on food sales. I don`t like when there are concerts in the park as it results in a very crowded park. But that means more money for the park to spend on hopefully more rides.
  19. Now how are you supposed to tear apart the people that belong to both websites?
  20. I actually remember seeing a movie that features some on ride photage from a wooden roller coaster that was painted white, but it wasn`t The Racer. Am I just dreaming that up?
  21. I highly doubt that they are considering one of those rides for a 2005 addition. Most likely, the higher ups at PKI like Craig Ross, the GM, already know what will be built in 2005. Especially if it is a rather large ride/roller coaster as rumors have predicted. If that is the case then they are probably finalizing the design and specifics of the ride so that construction can begin.
  22. DragonLord, I haven`t seen anything on the UC campus about that either. But of course I spend most of my time either at DAAP, or walking across campus to my dorm, Daniels. Where did you see this on the PKI site, as I don`t see it on their featured events page.
  23. Kind of off subject, but how old is the laser tag at PKI? Didn`t that building used to house a movie that is simlar in experience but on a much smaller scale to imax? I remember sitting on the floor and watching a movie in a building at PKI, but I don`t know if it was in the laser tag building.
  24. I agree Beastfreak, the ride concepts souonded like they aren`t for huge additions but for wild mouse sized coasters. I think that whatever PKi gets in 2005 will be big. While I would like the idea of another themed ride at the park, I don`t think we need one of those types of rides until after PKI recieves a major steel coaster, which might be in store for 2005.

    2005 Poll

At this point in time, we don`t even know if they are adding a new roller coaster in 2005. For all we know, they could be adding a new Huss ride in Coney Mall and another attraction in Nick Central/Hanna Barbera Land. However, I do think that 2005 might be big year for the park. But I don`t know anything more than the other guy. We will all just have to wait and see what, if anything, the March announcement (if it even occurs) discloses.
