PKI may be addressing some of the downtime issues this off season with TR:TR. Obviously, a larger ride of a proven concept will have some problems just from the fact that the machinery and weight is larger. As Jeff Siebert has hinted at before, TR:TR may in fact be receiving a new program this year, which most likely will not only increase uptime, but allow the park to operate the ride with full loads. It is my understanding that towards the end of last season (and from numerous cycles on the ride last season) that they were not loading the gondola to capacity in order to keep the weight under a certain amount to keep the ride from breaking down so often.

I`m no expert, but I would assume that it depends on the type of ride controls that the owner of the ride wishes to install. For example, at Coney, the Scrambler only requires one operator to run and they must operate the brake as well as hold down a button for the entire ride cycle. While at PKI, two people must simeltaneously push a button. Once pushed, they no longer have to hold down a button and the ride will automatically brake itself.

I remeber a water founatin type thing that used to be in Hanna Barbera Land, back by The Beastie somewhere. It had wheels that you could turn that would in turn move water chutes or cause buckets of water to dump into other buckets. I don`t know when they removed it, but I think it was removed about the same time they removed the Sushine Turnpike.

There is no bus stop directly under where PKi`s sign was. There is a Metro park and ride at the very end of the Deep South parking lot. The park and ride is located near the large expanse of grass that continues on down to the intersection of Kings Island Dr. and Western Row Road.

Yes, I remember the Smurf`s enchanted Voyage. The queue for the ride was situated where Top Cat`s Taxi Jam currently sits. Then you would go up some stairs over the canal, and enter the station through the roof. This is the same structure that shelters/ acts as a station for Top Cat`s Taxi Jam. After ddembarking from the turntable, like the one that was used on KCKC and now on Scooby, the boats would enter the building about where the old entrance to the Enchanted theater was. At one part of the ride, towards the end, the boats would actually be raised out of the water by a converyor belt. Also, I reme, mber the automatic curtain at the end that would close after a boat went by to keep out the day light. As far as the theming on the outside of the building, I don`t recall there being any theming for the Smurf Ride. I know for the original Enchanted Voyage they had the side of the building painted like a large television.

How did this thread go from PKI`s lack of website updates to fastpass being used at Six Flags Parks???? I`m a little confused on that one!
-
Just a quick question. What does that have to do with scariest moment at the park?
-
Whatever they do, I just hope the new addition doesn`t further block in the rest of their midways preventing further expansion. Currently, in Action Zone, Hanna Barbera and Nick, Octoberfest, and part of Rivertown are all blocked from the undeveloped land by existing attractions.

I don`t think that the park will be moving TimberWolf anytime soon. I especially don`t think that they would be moving it inot Rivertown. In its current location it is close to the parking lot for the performer`s busses and associated vehicles. Certainly they could revamp TimberWolf as it seems to be out dated and its colors too muted for the brightness of the Action Zone. I think that the addition in 2005 will be in Coney Mall. I personally think that an Adamms family themed ride could be a really good theme to a ride. I just hope that the ride that would be associated with it would be a fun, high capacity ride. From all indications I`ve heard, 2005 will indeed be the year that PKI receives its next major roller coaster. It has been three years since the last coaster was added (Runaway Reptar in 2001) and four years since the last major coater. (Son of Beast in 2000.) The longest PKI has gone without installing a coaster was back when the park opened in `72 they didn`t add another coaster, the Screamin Demon until 1977, five years. I think that we will see a roller coaster in 2005, and as stated above, I hope it is a high capacity, and re-rideable ride.

Losing Streak, I`ve known for about two weeks now that PKI`s Boomerang Bay would be called Crocadile Dundee`s Boomerang Bay. Actually, this topic was discussed in another thread on this site.

You won`t be able to walk around CD`s BB until it actually opens in May. We will be able to get a closeup view of some of the changes when the park opens aboard the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad.
-
Could a new name be added to the Water Park?
coasterrz replied to WildCat's topic in Coming Attractions
While the park is changing the name to Crocodile Dundee`s Boomerang Bay, I don`t think that they will focus solely on the name. The name probably is just to tie in some of the theming and as others have said to make PKI more of a movie park. -
My guess is that the parade would originate on IS, near the mens restroom, and then proceed to head toward HB land and end somewhere in HB, possibly near The Beasties, as that is near an area with access to the backstage area. We`ll just have to wait and see more when the parade actually happens.

The way I understand it is that originally, the station was supposed to sit where the current transfer table area is and that the transfer table area was supposed to be where the station is now. However, at the last minute they swaped the design, and in the process somehow, a block sction was lost. Since they wouldn`t be able to hold all three trains t or around the station, they decided not to put the third train on the circuit because it would get stuck on the midcourse break before the loop if there was a delay in the station. It is my understanding that the extra train is rehabbed over the summer so that they only have to rehab one SoB train during the winter, and thus have more time to concentrate on the other dozens of cars they have to inspect.

That is true. I do remember tham showing a world series game in the Festhaus this past season. Also, I remember that on the day Jeff showed the Boomerang Bay video, he interrupted a football game to show it and I remember one guy getting a little mad because of that.

Yes, I remember hearing that Top Gun was originally supposed to be called Thunder Run. But then Paramount purchased the park and they changed the name to Top Gun as a tie in to the new ownership.
-
Yes, I agree that Top Gun`s track looked much better with red than with its current silver. The current silver is too similar to the gray color of the supports.

Da Ripper, you can not have ridden The Racer in 1969 at Coney Island. The reason is that The Racer was built for Kings Island in 1972. Now, there was a white painted wooden coaster at Coney Island in 1969, The Shooting Star. The Shooting Star is a much talked about ride, especially for its tunneled finale, in ways a similar precurser to the ending of The Beast. Afterall, The Beast design started out as a copy of the Shooting Star. There is a similar copy of the Shooting Star (although it is a mirror image) up at Paramount Canda`s Wonderland.

I don`t know, but is that just a section of the water maze by Runaway Reptar? I don`t know how often they update the site. Lately, they have not been updating it very frequently, in part because it is the off season. I would imagine that things will start to pick up by the end of the month. Eventually, they will probably be announceing the 2004 Gold Season Pass Perks on the website. Also, in March, the park is rumored to be making some sort of announcement, which might appear on the park`s website. As they say, patience is a virtue!

I think that entertainment adds so much to the park experience. In the last three years, I have seen the two magic shows as well as Graveyard Shift, and thouroughly enjoyed them. The shows offer a break from the rides and an opportunity to sit down in air conditioning (at least for the show in the Paramount Theater). I look forward to watching the new Hollywood style show in the Paramount Theater this season. I just wish that the park had a second air conditioned venue to have a show in, other than the constantly playing Q TV on Skyline Chili Vision in the Festhaus.
-
I too have heard from a reliable soource that there will in fact be a Nickelodeon Parade. I`ve also heard that there will be a major new Hollywood style show put on in a possibly renovated/revamped Paramount Theater.
-
Yep, I second TowerGuy. Top Gun`s cars have remained the same since the ride opened in 1993 (obviosly with new parts and a couple new shells after last years incident). The cars on Top Gun are the standard Arrow suspended cars. Now one park in Enlgiand i believe did remove their Arrow suspended cars for Vekoma designed floorless swinging cars, similar to the trains on inverted coasters, except that they can sawy side to side. I don`t believe we will be seeing these types of trains on Top Gun.

If it is a B&M flyer, than yes I want a flyer. I however would not want a Zamperla flyer. I don`t even think we will be recieveing a flyer. I think we will be seeing some sort of sit-down, high speed coaster in 2005.

From what I`ve heard, they have or are doing some renovations to the Paramolunt Theater for this season. Also, they will be premiering a new main show in the theater something along the lines or title of "The Magic of Hollywood." From the sounds of it, it will be a step in the right direction in improving the shows. The park has not had a show in the Paramount Action Zone after the first or second season that it was built. They toned it down after the recent school shootings that had occured and the show disappeared soon after that. One reason for its demise was the fact that it clogged the already congested entrance to the Action Zone. The one thing I miss about the park`s entertainment is the roaming musicians. It was nice when you could be walking down IS or Coney Mall and hear either the funny Clown Band or the quintets roaming the park. Maybe, they will return in the near future as the park strives to achieve more Hollywood style entertainment.

It is a touring parade? How long will it be at the park and when? The main paths in the park aren`t really that narrow. Most of the walking paths are accesible by standard pickup trucks. In the offseason, maintenance vehicles often use the parks midways as roads to get around the park. Also, before the park opens in the morning they bring in water trucks to hose down the paths so that they`re clean for when the guests hit the park. Also, on an ACE walkback I`ve heard someone come on the radio and warn all park vehicles to be off of the paths because the park is about to open. I think that a parade will be a popular attraction at the park. I also think the new Hollywood style show that will be premiering in the Paramount Theater is also a step in the right direction as far as in park entertainment. PKI has been improving drastically the past few years. They are becoming a world class park focused on providing family fun and providing excellent service and attractions. Also they are starting to once again become a theme park and are slowly transforming into a movie park, similar to Disney and Universal. I think the next couple of years will be really exciting for the park. I just realized that I joined this website and forums a year ago today!
