When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
After 30 years, and as well as it is still running I would be shocked if it were to be taken out. Even more so if it would be taken out when still holding the record for the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. To me what gets me about The Beast is if you go on top of Eiffel Tower you can for the most part see every single ride in the park from there except The Beast. Once the trees have gained their leaves all you can see is the top of lift 2 and the incline of lift 1. You cant see the ride before you experience it.

BBW at BGE
I rode it once and it beat the tar out of you. It was suspose to be built by B&M I believe to be a sister coaster to Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa, didnt happen, Arrow then built it with the same basic configuration that B&M was to build. I think thats the general back story to the coaster itself correct me if I am wrong.

The Old Helecopter
I grew up in Western Hills which was in the take off/landing pattern of CVG and the after being in West Chester for 12 years and away from it I am now in Columbus at Ohio State where I have the same thing. Anything coming to or out of Port Columbus plus all the medicare flights coming into the hospitals in the area make having on helicoptor seem like nothing. I have ridden in a helicoptor once when visiting Niagara Falls, and I must say that it was a really cool experience, and thus could see the draw for it being at an amusement park. But at the same time if I go to Kings Island its to ride roller coasters, not to pay to ride in a helicopter

BBW at BGE
as in Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Europe? I am really hoping that it isnt the case. Big Bad Wolf is easily my favorite arrow suspended coaster, sorry Flight Deck but way to short. The drop down over the water is an amazing use of the terrain and I would hate to see it go.

Enough with all the trim comments!
I had one trimless ride on Magnum around 715ish Friday evening. The only ride I had on Magnum during ERT becuase I wanted to get over to Maverick, was trimmed. I was in a way kinda happy it was trimmed being in the front seat for both of those rides, june bugs hitting hands, arms, and your face hurt.

Interesting Things Ride-Ops Do
I wouldn't care, just like they don't care when we say they suck. It's just part of the great Ohio-Michigan bond we have I understand where you are coming from. Myself I am currently an Ohio State student, but the point that is brought up and as well I agree with is that the time and place to say something like that about Ohio State-Michigan is not the place for a employee of an amusement park to do. I can see where someone who is from Michigan could find it offensive. Something that I have heard while at Cedar Point before, which takes it into a better more comical light is where ride ops will ask people what state they are from, where most of them are from Ohio there will be a those that are also from Pennslyvania, Indiana and Michigan and the op will respond with something like "But you had to come to Ohio to have fun".

Best Inversion Ever at KI
King Cobra's loop obviously....though I do like the batwing on Vortex as well

Interesting Things Ride-Ops Do
But also to turn the tables, if you were at Michigan's Adventure and someone there was saying 'Ohio State sucks' continually, how would you react. Always need to see the opposite side of the coin.

Beast or Son of Beast
Beast. Its a 30 year old classic, not another ride out there really like it. Son of Beast with the loop beat the tar out of me to the points where I would ride and have it leave bruises on my legs. The only really really good ride I had on there was the first evening of operation for SOB in 2000 in the front row. Having to ride defensively on occasion to keep from being beat up on a ride is just not an enjoyable experience to me.

Michigan's Adventure Hoping For Best In Poor Economy
I have been out to Michigans Adventure numerous times, before and after Cedar Fair aquired it. I love that park, Shivering Timbers is my second favorite wooden coaster out there, behind Voyage and ahead of Beast. But one of the large problems that park will face is, if anyone has been out there, its out in the middle of no where. There isnt alot near by, much like Holiday World is as well.

How much land does KI own and what are the parameters?
To access the undeveloped land behind SOB it would be quite hard, as FlightDeck runs against the boundry between the park and Great Wolf. It seems that the only way to get out there would be to cut back by FoF and Firehawk to expand X-Base first.

Dragster stuck at the top!
Opening day they ran a couple empty test trains, about 50-50 on rollbacks...but it was also quite windy that day. The next Monday, it was running just fine.
-
New area by 2022?
Well mind you being a long ways off in the grand scheme of things, Kings Island does have the land for such an expansion. So in theory its, as I love Mythbusters so much, plausable.

OSU Band At Kings Island
I think that it will actually be the Ohio State Spring Athletic Band and not the marching band. They are also going to be at Cedar Point's opening on saturday

As if basketballs weren't annoying enough...
I dont have a real problem with basketballs when walking on the midways, but when in ride lines when the que is a much smaller area, its gets obnoxious real fast, not to mention the times I have seen people have their basketballs go over the airgates in the station and on to coaster track or over other fences into restricted areas. I think making guests to put them in lockers before riding or giving them out deflated would be a very good idea

NASCAR day at KI
Its not an event at KI, but just a unofficial 'day' that is run by nascar where in theory they try to get people to buy nascar day shirts/pins/hats you name it. The money from the appeal purchased goes to the nascar foundation, which is for charity events etc.
-
Poor maintnence in certain places(..nick,action zone)
I havent walked through Nick U this year or the area of Action Zone around Invertigo, but I would agree that Flight Deck could use a fresh coat of paint or two or three. Hopefully with Vortex getting a paint job over the offseason in this upcoming winter more paint work will be done

did anyone notice this?
Beast still has TV's in the station. They were on but no sound.

Top five parks
1. Cedar Point...coaster selection unmatched 2. Kings Island...second best coaster selection around 3. Dorney Park...Talon and Hydra are 2 of my favorites 4. Holiday World...only 3 coasters, but the atmosphere they have, and free soft drinks 5. Busch Gardens Williamsburg...its been years since I have been there, long ago enough that I did ride Drachen Fire twice

your top 5
I find it hard enough putting 5 together so I have my top 5 wooden and steel, since they both are a different kind of animal. Wooden: 1.Voyage- Holiday World 2. What Parks Will You Visit This Year?
Kings Island, Holiday World and Cedar Point all on their respective opening days...even if I will be at KI not as a guest but working instead. Almost definate to Knobels and hopefully to Dollywood

Regarding Loose Articles
And with the rides that have multiple trains i would see it to be extremely hard for ride ops to check to see who put what where while at the same time keep the ride running safely and things like that. have never had anything stolen, but I can see how it can happen. But who in their right mind would take an opened soda...someone must have been super super thirsty

11-Year-Old on Diamomndback?
Where The Beast is lower to the ground, being a wood coaster it will be rougher the Diamondback is (using other B&M coasters as a comparison point). With this you may rather have him ride something like Flightdeck or a steel coaster where the smoothness would be comparable.

Busch Gardens Africa TR
I was there on 3/26, which was the first time I was at the park in about six years, and it shocked me how rough Gwazi, it was borderline painful rough. And I also used the quick queue which is a really nice system they have and a very reasonable price too
