  1. Ahh...the lockers...that would be a "value" changer for sure, but when I went to HW last year (only time we ever used a locker, and paid $10 for it, got $5 back) we just got one and "stuffed" it...never used the lockers at KI, even for Firehawk...in part due to the high prices. (We also bring our own food and eat in the parking lot, this happened at both KI and Holiday World, but we have eaten in the parks too...me and the group I usually go with are real "penny-pinchers"...) I was just comparing the "base" entry costs + drinks for the two parks. Obviously, things like food, lockers, souvenirs, and that stuff will be a factor- and I'm pretty sure Holiday World is cheaper in those categories. As for the "180 miles to HW" thing...I got that number from a website, and I'm pretty sure they were using the "common" interstate route...which HW's website even suggests you use, so I used that "distance" for the math. PS, I didn't mean to come off like I was "hatin'" on Holiday World. No, quite the opposite is true- I love it. A lot. I just was pointing out it's not as dirt cheap compared to other parks as some would make it seem- but it is still worth every penny.
  2. Yes, I am also aware that Kings Island wants $12 for parking, and has Coke, not Pepsi...but, from central Indiana, hmm...better do some math- this is how much it would cost me and 3 friends/family members to visit both parks: Kings Island 4 Tickets: $30.99x4=$123.96 Parking: $12.00 Gas (From Central Indiana, 127 Miles, 25mpg car, Gas Price $3.75 per gallon): $38.10 Drink Wristbands: 4 x$5= $20.00 Total Cost: $194.06 Holiday World 4 Tickets: $37.99x4=$151.96 Parking: $0.00 Gas (Same Values, distance now 180 Miles): $54.00 Drink Wristbands: Not Needed Total Cost: $205.96 Well, it's only an $11 difference here...I guess the choice boils down to wether you want tons of huge thrill rides (Kings Island) or a massive waterpark (Holiday World)...now, if this is only a Season Pass item, it makes getting a KI season pass well worth it, especially when they are $69.99 during haunt...
  3. Wait...only $5? Do you need to be a season pass holder to get these...because if not... 1 Kings Island Ticket: $30.99+$5 Drink Wristband=$35.99 to visit Kings Island plus unlimited soda...(Kroger Discount Ticket Price) 1 Holiday World Ticket, with max $7 discount: $37.99 Umm...if this is the case, suddenly, the "Holiday World is a better value than KI" argument just got murdered.
  4. Update on CP WindSeeker, according to Screamscape- it's back open, and far sooner than I thought (Yep, I admit I was wrong)...I honestly thought that broken cable would take much, much longer to fix...perhaps WindSeeker may not be Crypt 2.0 x6, after all...and will still exist 10 years from now. Source: http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm
  5. ^ Hmm...it would seem with the new "bigger" Mammoth, the lines for Wildebeest have decreased. Interesting...AND THE TOBBOGAN (8-seater) BOATS SPIN!?!? (I didn't realize they were supposed to...I was under the impression that they were like Wildebeest's and faced forwards the whole ride) Picture of the boats I'm talking about (are these on Mammoth, or just the spinning 6-seater boats?):
  6. WOW...that is awesome. We need one of those for Kings Island...but where to put it...Coney Mall? On Eiffel Tower? Action Zone? Or perhaps...TONS OF THEM ALL OVER THE PLACE !!! (If not too expensive to do)
  7. Well, for water rides, in my opinion, wetter is better...and the spinning does seem like it would add an interesting effect... More Mammoth questions I thought up... #1-Does the ride have just the 6-seater "spinny" boats, or are the 8-seater "toboggan" boats also on the ride, as the park and ProSlide hinted they may also want to try (and a model of the ride had both on it at once)? #2-How are the wait times compared to Wildebeest (basically, how much of a difference does 2-4 more people per "boat" make)?
  8. I have been and yes, Holiday World is EXCELLENT...though I have not yet been this year, a "family trip" is in the works...which I hope happens. Glad you enjoyed your trip! PS: Next time, get fudge. Also, as I have not yet been on Mammoth- is it better than Wildebeest, worse, or about "equal"? (Though my rides on Wildebeest in 2011 were amazing and hence even being "equal" means "awesome")
  9. WOW...that is some NASTY damage to CP WindSeeker...this ride (the damaged one) will not be open again for some time (1 month+) as I see an expensive repair that will need to be made...(Kings Island WindSeeker is, according to webcam, still open) With all these problems, I am beginning to wonder if WindSeeker will still be around at any CF park within 10-15 years...yikes...
  10. Uh-Oh. Once upon a time, I made a "What if a whole bunch of Kings Island rides went down at once?" type poll. Now it seems to be really happening- although another thread says Drop Tower re-opened around May 12th: http://www.KICentral...re/page__st__30 It could have gone down again, though... Some more notes: -Another topic suggests Delirium may be about to have yet another one of its "one-month" breakdowns where they need to order that new part from HUSS. It's still running now, but had some major issues the day we went (May 5th) and it was loading/unloading much slower than usual (I have never had to wait 1 hour for Delirium, and yet on that trip I did...and it broke before we got on...) Oh boy, what a horrible time for this ride to have issues too, eh? -The Crypt is no longer SBNO- Kings Island has already removed the ride. All that's left is the building. I would not count it as a "down" ride, I count it as just plain GONE. (Son of Beast is still just "down"...for now) Just some notes I wanted to share on this...
  11. Whoops! Didn't notice that...will delete...
  12. Was checking the rumors and stuff on Screamscape, and they have found an interesting article: Worth a read, as it gives a bit of insight into what park management is thinking right now... NOTE: ARTICLE WAS POSTED EARLIER IN THIS THREAD...deleted it...
  13. My two cents: Flight of Fear I've been on this one 4 times- it's a great ride, but it seems it cannot decide on being smooth or rough...seat choice matters a lot here. I've been exactly 50-50 (2 very smooth rides, and 2 painful ones) on this whenever I ride it. One of my FOF rides, in fact, happens to be the most painful ride I ever had at Kings Island (then again, I never got to ride Son of Beast so...). But, in spite of this, it is also an epic ride and one of the rides I will wait in a 1+ hour line for at Kings Island- rough or not. The theming is well done and the pre-ride is awesome. But, be sure to LOL at the outdated 1996 computers! Invertigo This ride I have only done once, and for a reason- it's not worth much more than a 30 minute wait, and it usually has at least that. If you want to go upside down 6 times, Vortex is probably a better (and time saving) choice. However, in the event you do get a short wait for it, Invertigo is still worth riding. It's a intense, forceful ride and it is fun to watch other riders scream their FACES OFF ...just not worth more than a 30-minute wait. This one can be a bit rough too, or so I've heard, but my ride on it in 2010 was pretty smooth- save a few minor bumps.
  14. Hmm...had no idea White Canyon was built to survive Earthquakes...ok, here's another RCCA Woodie, Bandit @ Movie Park Germany (note: this coaster is only 91 feet tall): Wow, the supports are still a mess even here, and on this much smaller scale... And here is another MONSTER wooden coaster, but from a different company- the gigantic Colossos @ Heide Park in Germany, which, at 199 feet, is second only to Son of Beast in height, but built by Intamin with Plug N' Play technology... Is it just me, or does Colossos not look "messy" at all? I don't think having pre-fabricated sections would change the way the coaster would need to distribute weight...here's a different angle, too:
  15. Well, Screamscape is reporting yet another Cedar Point coaster (Wildcat was recently removed) could be going the same way this next offseason- this time, it's Disaster Transport. Aka "the ride Kinzel called his biggest mistake before TTD". http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm According to Screamscape, the basis for this rumor is: #1-Cedar Point will probably be getting a new coaster for 2013, as Kinzel stated last year there would be a BIG announcement in 2012. #2-Survey Markers, a usual sign of a upcoming new ride, have appeared around DT's area, and on the beach nearby. There are photos on the site to confirm this. #3-Ride operators, when asked, have been told to tell guests "to enjoy the ride as much as they can this season". Well, this rumor looks like it could be true- either that or they are going to build a new coaster ON TOP of DT ...which could be cool. But I doubt it... Wonder what could be going there...B&M Wingrider? A wooden coaster that runs along the beach? Something else? Let the comments begin!
  16. For comparison, here's another RCCA wooden coaster, this one's from Japan and it's name is White Canyon: Notice the supports are VERY similar to Son of Beast...
  17. ^ WARNING: JOKE AHEAD! ...even worse, imagine if Paramount went crazy and built a bunch of $20,000,00+, 200 foot+ RCCA looping wooden hypercoasters and put them in all their highest-performing parks... CEO 10 Years Later: "Oh crud..." Granted, a move like that would have probably bankrupted Paramount...
  18. I second 5/5/2012 being a 4/5. It wasn't quite the worst crowds I had ever seen, but here are my wait times: Before Lunch (Which was at 1:00PM)... Racer: 0 Minutes, Walk-On (Beat Crowds to It) Firehawk: 10-15 Minutes, if you want to ride Firehawk, do it early! Diamondback: 50 Minutes Vortex: 20 Minutes After Lunch, Before Dinner Viking Fury: 5 Minutes Monster: 10 Minutes The Beast: 65 Minutes Adventure Express: 15 Minutes Flight Deck: 20 Minutes Delirium: 60 Minutes, but we never rode as it broke down! AFTER DINNER Flight of Fear: 65 Minutes The Beast, Night Ride: 75 Minutes (+15 for Fireworks) Yep, I'd say a 4...
  19. To re-enforce what terpy has said, here is a picture of the first drop from Beast's very early days I found (it was somewhere here on KIC): And here is a video of the ride testing in 1979... The wooden "beams" you see on the ride are actually what's known as "skid" brakes. They are an older style braking system, that slowed the train down gradually instead of suddenly, un-like the newer model "fin" brakes. However, the problem with the skid brakes was they wouldn't work nearly as well when it rained (thus making wet rides on Beast, I assume, very fast!). In October 2001, The Beast was closing down due to rain when a train coming into the station failed to stop completely, and it bumped an unloading train at 5mph. There were no serious injuries, however, for the 2002 season Kings Island removed the original skid brakes and installed brand-new fin brakes for safety purposes. The ride was, according to an old trip report I read, not even ready when the park opened in 2002 and opened a few weeks late. Also, according to our own Terpy, I have heard that when the brake change was first made, the trim before the final helix was missing for a few weeks. And that's the story behind The Beast and it's trim brakes. Hope that cleared some stuff up for those who didn't know.
  20. OK, some notes: -I am pretty sure I rode Vortex between noon and 1PM. -On Viking Fury, we did ride a bit close to the middle. My sister's boyfriend picked the seat. Perhaps he was afraid... I still enjoyed the ride. -I am not sure if it was Fast Lane slowing down the lines, but while in line for Beast, several would show up at once and take a good number of seats. The ride would take a bit longer to dispatch, and more would show up and there goes a whole train. Happened more than once. The ride ops also, for some reason, only let the line move oh-so-often (but were doing a much better job by nightfall, apparently). Looking back, Fast Lane may not have had as big an impact as I thought then now that I think about it...I didn't see any re-riders, and only saw maybe 50 people using the passes in total, even though it was very crowded...if it was not Fast Lane, then something else was slowing down the lines, but what? Slow ride ops? If so, they need to speed things up... -I cannot confirm the SOB is doomed rumor as I did not meet Matt Ouimet. I wish I had known he was there- I would have looked for him, and if I saw him, talked with him...but yes, parts of the ride (not the structure, just the track) did look like they would need SERIOUS work if the ride were to over operate again. And by now, I'm losing hope for SOB... -Cannot believe I forgot this: On Adventure Express, my sister's friend did a "bang drums" motion when we entered the finale. By the end, the entire train was doing it.
  21. Hello! Well, it's McSalsa again, ready to give another Trip Report from Kings Island- this time for May 5th, 2012. First, however, here is the ride rating system: 10=Epic. A memorable ride I will remember for a long time. 9=Excellent. A very fun ride with only minor flaws. 8=Very Good. An outstanding ride, but there's a flaw or two in there that keeps it from greatness. 7=Good. A fun ride, but not anything remarkable. 6=Decent. Respectable, but it has un-overlookable flaws. 5=Meh. Not good or bad, it has some big flaws. 4=Bad. This ride isn't worth waiting at all for, and has serious issues. 3=Very Bad. Don't waste your time here. 2=Garbage. Yuck! 1=Poo Poo...Eww! Avoid at all costs! 0=Superpoo...see above, only even worse somehow. OK? Let's begin...our group inlcuded McSalsa (me), my sister, her best friend, her boyfriend, her best friend's boyfriend, and her best friend's boyfriend's brother. We arrived at the park around 9:40, where I sadly learned WindSeeker would not be open today. Doh! We headed for the Coney Mall "gate" and waited for the park to open. There was only a small crowd, leading me to think the park might not be too crowded (boy, would I be proven wrong). A singer from one of the park's shows sang "Amazing Grace" and the park opened. Our plan was to head for Firehawk, but my sister saw no one heading for and wanted to ride... #1: The Racer (RED) Wait: 0 Minutes We chose Red Racer over Blue. Neat how the two are no longer seperated and you now "choose" at the loading platform. Both sides were running, and (mostly) racing! I also, for the very first time, managed to hold my hands up for an ENTIRE ride! Yay! The ride itself was fun, possibly my best ride ever on this coaster, with solid floater and some ejector air all over the ride- John Allen's 40 year old classic gave me its first ride I would rate ABOVE an 8...it gets a 9/10. Bonus points for being smooth in spite of being a 40-year-old woodie, too! Score: 9/10 After Racer, we made a discovery- her BF Boyfriend's Brother was AFRAID of roller coasters (I was suspicious when he said "All the coasters there suck!" during the drive...) Our attempts to get him to try even a small one would fail, he would refuse even Adventure Express...which, as we walked past, was closed for the morning for some reason- we were heading for Sling Shot, where we waited 20 minutes to find the cash register broken and thus the ride could not open (my sister was wanting to ride Sling Shot). We abandoned it eventually and headed for Firehawk...thankfully, we STILL beat most of the crowds to it... #2: Firehawk Wait: 10 Minutes Firehawk is a ride, until now, I had only ridden once...my previous ride on Firehawk was good- intense, but not too rough. This time, we were in the back of a train and I must say...ow. It wasn't too painful, but Firehawk was quite rough on this morning. Still a fun ride though- just not worth a 2-hour wait. Score: 8/10 After Firehawk, I wanted to hit Flight of Fear, which had only built up a short (30- minute) wait. But my sister's boyfriend wanted to ride Diamondback. Her Best Friend, Boyfriend, and BF's Brother needed some food and we left them. (I feel this was a mistake as we gave up a chance to ride FOF with a short wait in exchange for Diamondback, which would have about the same line all day...) On the way, we checked with the WS Ride Ops to see if there was any chance of the ride opening. They said no...so I still have yet to ride WindSeeker. We were heading for Diamondback, but had to turn around and head the long way around because a marching band was coming down the walkway. We reached it, and waited 45 minutes for a ride... #3: Diamondback Wait: 45 Minutes (moved a bit slower than I remember...Fast Lane?) Diamondback gave a solid ride, as usual. The ride still has the "rattle", and it still has great airtime, too. Worth the wait, for sure. Not the best ride I've ever had on DB, but still pretty darn good. Score: 9.5/10 (better than a 9, but I can't really call this a 10/10 ride...) After Diamondback, I wanted to ride The Beast. But wait...The Beast was closed ? And blocked off by a mobile gift shop! I wondered what was wrong, this is my favorite ride here...well, we headed for Vortex instead. The wait looked long and some were saying "IT'S A 2 HOUR LINE!!!"... #4: Vortex Wait: 20 Minutes (2 Hours? HAH! But...also a bit slower...) Well, Vortex wasn't 100% today- even from 5-1. Rougher than normal, no airtime (unusual for 5-1), and the "hang time" on the loops and inversions wasn't as strong. My sister and her boyfriend were in the back and got the tar beat out of them! (I explained that 5-1 was good, 5-2 was not, afterwords...) The ride still had some fun value, however, thanks to its intensity. (Note: Read another trip report that stated Vortex was running great...huh, guess rides really can differ a lot, even in the same day...) Score: 8/10 After Vortex, we were hungry and headed out to our car for some food we had brought. After that, we headed in and decided to head for a ride I had never ridden...until now...prepare yourself for... #5: VIKING FURY Wait: 5 Minutes (This ride has ultra capacity!) TASTES GREAT! LESS FILLING! TASTES GREAT! LESS FILLING! Well, this ride is actually far less intense than I expected it to be...I also saw how it works- 2 huge truck tires are spinning below the "boat", and move it back and forth. A fun ride- best in the park, though? Well...maybe if you have kids... Score: 7/10 On the way to VF, we got a phone call from Sister's Friend and learned that Beast was doing test runs and could re-open. Yay! But since it was still testing, we decided to kill some time and ride... #6: MONSTER Wait: 10 Minutes (loading/unloading a bit slow, but much faster than the now-defunct Midnight Ride at HW) Monster seems to be more "spinny" this season than in years past! And that means more fun. With these spider rides getting rarer and rarer, this is a very good thing indeed. Score: 8/10 After Monster, we re-united with the entire group and headed for The Beast. #7: The Beast Wait: 60 Minutes The line was claimed to be 60 minutes, but it looked longer...until all of a sudden it moved SUPER FAST as more q-lines opened up. Then it slowed down..and sped up...and slowed down...what was doing this? Then I got up near the front and saw what it was...Fast Lane users were sometimes taking up nearly whole trains as they showed up as the ride was loading, and when they didn't, things moved much faster. This ride, by far, had the most FL users of the day- it wasn't a crazy amount, but there did seem to be a steady flow of at least 1 FL user/group per train. After 60 minutes (the wait time at the front was correct- but in the past this was only a 45 minute wait), we got on... As usual, Beast was relentless wooden fury. Few things are more fun at Kings Island than racing at nearly 65mph through the woods at high speeds, followed by a savage and super-intense double helix finale. The laterals I noticed in 2011 were gone, however...not a 10/10 ride (I've had plenty of those on this ride though), but still very good, even by Beast standards. I also found out why the ride was closed- there was a section of track on the second lift where you could CLEARLY see a good 3-5 foot new piece of track that had just been placed on the right side. Score: 9.5/10 After Beast, we walked over the Coney Mall, where my sister's friend's boyfriend played 3-point challenge and lost. I never rode them, but I'd still rather have Flying Eagles here over this game. We headed down for Action Zone, and got on Adventure Express on the way...and tried to convince BF's Boyfriend's Brother to ride it, with 0 success. #8: Adventure Express Wait: 15 Minutes Very few people using Fast Lane here, but one group who did said "We aren't cutting!". Someone else said "YES YOU ARE!". We boarded and rode AE in the back. Adventure Express is actually BETTER in the back, too! It's still smooth, more intense, and you get a better view of some of the scenery/theming because the train slows down for the lift hills. Great ride. I also made a note to "check" the condition of Son of Beast during this ride, more on that later. Score: 8/10 After AE, we headed for Delirium, but it was closed temporarily. Drop Tower had also been closed all day, and Invertigo was sure to have a long line. No one wanted to get wet on Congo Falls. So, what ride do we ride here...you can't guess? #9: FLIGHT DECK Wait: 20 Minutes Wow, a wait for Flight Deck...good sign ? The ride itself was pretty good, but there were some rough spots. The ride still looks pretty nice with its semi-new paintjob. Score: 8/10 After Flight Deck, half our group (Sister's Friend, Sister's Friend's Boyfriend, and his Bro) wanted to leave early. That left me, my sis, and her boyfriend. We headed for Delirium, waited an hour, and the ride broke down. Grr...after that ordeal, we headed for some lunch. I decided to try the "famous" Potato Works fries with Chicken Bites. The fries were nothing to write home about, but the chicken bites were great. How did these fries get so darn famous, anyhow... Sister's Boyfriend had a burger & fries from Juke Box Diner, and my sister got a plate of Panda Express at Festhaus. After that, we headed to Flight of Fear as my sister wanted to ride it really badly...but first, the SOB Analysis: SOB ANALYSIS Son of Beast isn't about to collapse. The supports seemed fine, but there was one area that didn't look ok- some of the track itself, at the top of the 2nd lift hill, some of the track and "hand rail" bars were in horrible condition and falling apart. However, another KIC user says they met Matt Ouimet and that he stated the ride is being removed...hmm... #10: Flight of Fear Wait: 60 Minutes (should have ridden earlier... ) The line moved a bit slower than usual, and I was afraid this might be the last ride we got on. By this point, I was a bit irked by Fast Lane, but as I moved deeper into FOF, I saw the good sign of Fast Lane...what it could be PAYING FOR. Flight of Fear's theming was 100% working, with a few new additions as well. Some noteables: -The ride had new indoor lightining in the line, which is cool. -The UFO's special effects were all working. -The area right before the "launch" area seems rennovated, as I remember it being a bland tunnel. Now, it has a "image" of the solar system in there. -The "tunnel" between the launch area and main section of the ride has cool, "starry" lights in it now. -The ride's exit now has a LONG tunnel you walk through... Wow, Fast Lane sure is buying stuff...also, Adventure Express's theming was also working 100%. As for Flight of Fear itself, it was its usual self, but...rough again (did this in 2010 to me as well). Ow Ow Ow. Still an epic, fun ride. Score: 9.5/10 (will anything get a 10?) When I entered FOF, it was yet to be dark...it was night when we exited. We debated on what to ride at night, as I expected Beast's line to be closed early due to how long it probably was. We headed that way as my sister suggested Diamondback as a possible night ride, but Beast was still open, so we entered the line for it. The ride shut down for the Fireworks, and we got a great view of them from within the q-line. Afterwords, the line "closed" and no new riders were allowed in- which meant no more Fast Lane users! #11: The Beast Wait: 90 Minutes (Beast+Night=Popular, but it moved much faster this time too) The Full Moon loomed over the woods. The train turned the corner, and headed for the lift hill, the moon nearly directly above it. "Zen ride?" I thought. Well...not quite, but still epic. The ride was fast, relentless, and even though not 100% dark outside due to the moon, it still felt eerie being in the woods at night, and the tunnels were pitch black. It really felt as though a wild Beast was chasing us, and when we nearly escaped him and tried to return to KI, he caught us and we went for a double helix! Why don't more rides have "stories" behind them like this...A wild ride to end a wild day. Beast night rides are awesome! Score: 10.5/10 (At last! And it was better than a 10/10... ) After Beast, we had to leave the park and head for home. This trip report comes to an end, but first, the usual "Pros" and "Cons"... PROS +Fun rides. Some were better than usual. Others not. I wasn't blown too far away by many, but that's probably because I have become used to KI's rides by now...hmm, time to visit other parks and try new ones... +Rides are upkept well. Flight of Fear and Adventure Express were both 100% today, as far as theming working goes. +Tasty chicken bites...the fries were ok, but not that good. +Beast staying open for a whole hour after the park was closed. Making up for the ride being down earlier, perhaps? CONS -Lines were not moving as fast as I recall. Could have been due to Fast Lane, but not too many were using the passes... -Broken rides. Beast was down half the day. Drop Tower and WindSeeker never opened. Delirium broke down several times. Son of Beast is still SBNO. I'm a little irked that so many rides were closed down today... -Huge crowds. Not the park's fault, but it still sucked. No more "Music in the Parks" days for us! -Dirty tables in lots of places. Eww. Not the clean Kings Island I was used to... I hope you enjoyed this trip report. I had fun on this day, in spite of some issues that plauged the day. What's next for McSalsa? Well, my Grandma wants to visit Holiday World for a family trip...been there before, that should be fun. Well then...MCSALSA AWAY!!! PS: Questions and comments welcome.
  22. ^ Oh, good point...Son of Beast was closed, but not removed, during the said 1979-2011 "Cedar Point doesn't remove any roller coasters" gap...so that makes the score... Kings Island: 5 coasters removed from '79 to '11 Cedar Point: 0 coasters removed from '79 to '11, streak broken in '12 by Wildcat #2 (no wonder they were able to take the title of "most roller coasters"- they just kept adding new ones without removing any! Granted, KI did have sound reasons for most of the ones they did take out...)
  23. For anyone who's keeping score: Cedar Point, according to RCDB, now has 16 roller coasters. Six Flags Magic Mountain has 17, and is rumored to get another one next year. To even match them now, CP must add 2 roller coasters next year! Granted, Cedar Point no longer seems interested in the "most roller coasters" title. If it were, we would have seen more of them post-Maverick....and we have not. Fact: This is the first coaster Cedar Point has removed since 1978, when both the Wildcat #1 and Jumbo Jet were removed. For comparison, Kings Island has removed Bavarian Beetle (1979), The Bat (closed 1982 or '83, removed 1984), Screamin' Demon (1987), King Cobra (2001), Scooby's Ghoster Coaster (2005), and closed down (and may remove) Son of Beast (SBNO since mid-2009) in the same amount of time! Note: Added final seasons for KI roller coaster removals so those who don't know KI very well will know when they last operated.
  24. Great interview. Some points I'd like to make: #1-He stated that Cedar Fair WILL still add coasters every now & then, but not so often that when they DO add a new coaster, it will feel "special". I agree- if Kings Island built 5 coasters in 5 years, I would, by year 4, be saying "Another coaster? Really? Can't we get something else, like a flat or water ride or something?". Not to mention the lesser coasters built during the period would only be popular for a fleeting moment. We should, however, get at least a small-medium sized roller coaster every 3-5 years or so, and/or 1 "Biggie" each decade. #2-He talked about Fast Lane, and I believe him- for a family that isn't going to be able to go to KI a lot, this is a great option to offer. But yes, do limit them- Ouimet was not in charge yet during HH 2011, but from what I've heard, they may have sold A TON more Fast Lane passes then needed. It may have been a "test" ("Exactly how many can we sell before it really hurts the regular lines?") or it could have been greed, I don't know. I just don't want to be waiting 1 1/2 hours for Beast on a weekend in May (normal crowd levels, normal wait 30-45 mins) because they sold too many Fast Lane passes. #3-I agree, the Beach at Cedar Point must be used more. Also, they need to upgrade their water park- right now, if me and my family visited Cedar Point, we would actually IGNORE the water park because it is so small compared to Kings Island and Holiday World's Waterparks (then again, Splashin' Safari kicks butt and only a few waterparks can compete with them!) Just my opinions.
  25. ^^ It sure is...I should note, in that KI-sized park I was able to run at 20fps...that was DAYTIME mode. My sister's computer, which was bought NEW last year, has a multi-core CPU, 4GB Ram, and a 1024MB built-in (laptop) Video Card...and this is the best I can run RCT3. I have always wondered though- how would RCT3 run on a modern monster gaming PC? (You know, the ones with DUAL graphics cards, 7-core CPUs, 16+GB Ram, cost over $3000, etc etc...)
