First night ride on Beast, last train of the night. Wow.
-
I'm going to shim my hand in there next time

...when on the last few rows of DB I leave my restraint about 3" off my lap, yet the bottom of the 2nd hill manages to staple me. FML. Anyone else experienced this problem?

Forgot to mention that I did not see ANY line jumping Thursday, maybe because the crowds were low...

How long did you wait for your first ride on Diamondback?

The DB spot is getting around, I've seen it on some stations here in Central/Southern KY..

I like the look of Vortex, but I voted DB because it moves so quickly

Yes it is fun while you're on it, but, if you leave the ride with a headache that takes the enjoyment out of other rides, then I consider it not worth it.

I decided to cruise up to KI with 3 friends (for even riding, of course) Thursday, seeing as the weather outlook was not too bad and we all had a day off. We arrived at the park at 10, processed our tickets in a hurry, got a locker, and we were off to Racer. Blue Racer was a walk on when we got there, Red was still down. I think we were pretty much the only ones on our train. When we got off Racer it began to rain a little, so we decided we would hit Vortex, which also turned out to be a walk on. During the ride the rain became a little more steady and made for an interesting ride experience. We got off and headed for Beast. Of course, we waited for the front two rows (a <5 minute wait) when we were told that two trains would be taken off the track. We waited patiently 15 minutes or so for them to switch the trains off so we could have our first ride on Beast in the rain. We had a relatively smooth and painless ride, only one of us complaining of "broken ribs and neck" when we exited. None of us had been on Diamondback yet, so we decided to brave the weather and head for DB. We found out they were only running two trains when we got there, and there was what we thought was a good sized line. Apparently not, we waited 10 minutes at most. We got on towards the front (5 & 6) and began to get anxious. We discovered it was still raining when we departed the station and discussed how painful the ride would be on the way up. Even through our discomfort we were all still thoroughly impressed with DB, but the rain hadn't slacked off so we headed for Outer Hanks for some wings and adult beverages. When discussing what to do while its raining someone suggested that we should have a few drinks and hold a friendly competition at Dodgem. We walked on with few other people and began our derby. It was a spectacle to say the least. After the derby (I won), they headed to Drop Tower, I decided to sit this one out. I didn't want to lose my stomach on the fall. They were satisfied with the ride and short wait (one cycle). The weather cleared up so we then headed to Firehawk and waited 30 minutes or so to ride. After that it was BLSC, a very very rough ride on Beast, two DB rides within 25 minutes, Vortex, Blue Racer (Red was running so we talked smack on the lift and then won by a train length), Flight Deck, Delirium, Invertigo, DB two more times, FoF, DB again, and The Beast at night. We left KI a little after 10 and got back at 2. Ride count: Total - 21 Diamondback - 6 The Beast - 3 Racer - 2 Vortex - 2 Invertigo - 1 Flight Deck - 1 FoF - 1 BLSC - 1 Firehawk - 1 Delirium, Drop Tower, and Dodgem. It was a great day at KI and we usually had a 15 minute or less wait for everything. I'll be back next Thursday.

Construction at Canada's Wonderland

it will be interesting to watch this develop or fizzle out over the next few months... -
They REALLY need to do something about that. It's getting incredibly annoying, and I've seen more than one small child crying because one stung them. Probably not a Carpenter Bee then, they aren't very aggressive and will only sting when really provoked.. Males don't even have a stinger.

still 0 finally getting some in on Thursday

There are a ton of better shoes. If I'm going with a unique sole, theres nothing that will beat a newer NB Zip. I spent $105 on a pair of Nike Turbo2 Shox last year and they had fallen apart within 3 months. I still have a pair of NB 8505 and 8507 Zip from 2 years ago that are in perfect condition.

When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
06jds377 replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
After 30 years, and as well as it is still running I would be shocked if it were to be taken out. Even more so if it would be taken out when still holding the record for the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. Yes, it is 30 years old and still going strong. But, think of how long it will possibly be before CF starts building back there... I hate to think of The Beast being removed, but, it can't stay there forever unless they keep overhauling it. I see maybe 15 more years.. -

As much as I hate to say it, I believe The Beast will be gone before they start building back that far... I see them expanding X-Base first. -
Rides that are a 48" requirement at KI: SoB Beast BLSC Drop Tower Racer Flight Deck Vortex 48" at CP: Blue Streak Cedar Creek Mine Ride Corkscrew Disaster Transport Gemini Iron Dragon Magnum Mean Streak MF Wildcat Demon Drop Take your pick. Of course location of rides, her willingness to ride them, crowds, the drive to the park, etc. all come into play. I'm bored, you're welcome.

I do on Invertigo, which is why I've only ridden it twice...its a shame, such a fun ride.

Sorry to bump an older post, but Boss is AWESOME!!! I wish SFSL wasn't so far from me so I could easily ride it again, every season...
