Thanks for the great report! I was in line next to your friend and his dad at registration around 6:15am, but I didn't realize that he was on this site. They saw my Banshee shirt and started talking to me about Kings Island. I thought I recognized you standing next to him later in the day, but I wasn't sure.

Cedar Point TO REOPEN MONDAY JUNE 9
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Repairs to the water main are completed, and Cedar Point will reopen tomorrow: Monday, June 9. This week only, they're celebrating with a special H2O ticket offer that includes free Soak City, which only seems fitting after a very dry weekend at the park. From cedarpoint.com: -

^^ The park is (of course) surrounded by water, but it needs extensive treatment to meet drinking water standards. Unless they want to build a facility on the peninsula, water is going to get to the park via a very long pipe. ^ E-mail them and ask. CP has mainland parking lots, and a bus could be chartered. The worst they could do is say no. Highway signs along the Ohio Turnpike are advising motorists that CP is closed. Hopefully most out-of-town visitors will find out before driving all the way to Sandusky. -
They can look up your information at the park. You might need to stop at a ticket window first to get the voucher printed; call the park for details if you want to be prepared. Make sure you have photo ID, your order confirmation number, and the credit card you paid with.

Cedar Point TO REOPEN MONDAY JUNE 9
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
An e-mail has gone out to CP Coasting for Kids attendees. Someone posted it to the Theme Park Review forum: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1458575#p1458575 Participants are invited to either attend the event at KI tomorrow or receive 2 single-day admission tickets by mail. Not sure what season passholders would do with the latter. -
Cedar Point TO REOPEN MONDAY JUNE 9
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am sure something will be set up at a later date. Just be glad no one got hurt. Rescheduled Coasting for Kids activities are a certainty. The park highly values those who help them raise money for things like this. I'm sure they have more pressing matters at the moment than figuring out Coasting for Kids dates and details. 4 hours from Dayton via OH-4 sounds about right. The situation is very unfortunate, and many will have wasted much time and expense travelling to a closed park. Even though it's not the park's fault, they're ultimately the ones responsible for their guests' satisfaction (or lack thereof). Hopefully they provide appropriate incentives for affected customers to bring their wallets back to the park when it's actually open. -
^ It was said to put "KIC" along with your forum username in the member number field.

Talk to management of the hotel that you made the Sunday reservation with. Most hotels will let you cancel without penalty for exigent circumstances, even when the policy says otherwise. All days of any affected reservation at CP Resorts should be fully refundable if you cancel it.

Lots of members, myself included, plan to be at the park on Monday, July 7. Most will be registering for the Coaster Crew event, but doing so is not required to meet up for rides while the park is open. I would highly recommend buying an event ticket, though. KIC members have been invited to register for the event, whether or not they are also Coaster Crew members. It has already been announced that the Coaster Crew event will be the only "official" KIC event this year. Additional ("unofficial") meetups are likely to happen as well. Haunt and Closing Day, at a minimum. You've already missed several unofficial meetups this year.

(Posting again to make sure that this is not missed) Cedar Point's Coasting for Kids event is not happening tomorrow, according to Tony Clark via Twitter: -

After the break is fixed, pipes and fixtures will most likely need to be flushed to ensure water safety. With around 1000 guest units on the peninsula, that's a big undertaking. It's not surprising that the resorts will be closed tomorrow night as well.

My first time attending CoasterMania was certainly a lot of fun, albeit very tiring. Spending 17 consecutive hours in an amusement park is an experience. I really enjoyed the gourmet lunch (including grilled ribs, grilled chicken, fresh salsa, shrimp and scallops), the excellent free cruise on the Jet Express, and walk-on rides after midnight. BeastForever and I were among the very few guests marathoning Maverick after midnight. Top Thrill Dragster was closed for maintenance, so the Millennium Force crew stayed open from 7:25am until 12:30am for us.

More photos of the ongoing work: http://www.newsnet5.com/news/warning-graphic-photos-of-cedar-point-water-main-break (In perhaps a new low for journalism, the local news station saw fit to include a picture showing what an unflushed toilet looks like. Not to mention that absolutely all picture-taking is forbidden in CP restrooms.)

More info, including pictures: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/article/cedar-point/5739681 All guests have apparently been evacuated from the peninsula, including the resorts. The causeway is currently closed to traffic according to ODOT. Residents on the Cedar Point chausse are also affected by the water main break.

With this being announced at 10:00am, there are going to be a lot of unhappy people who travelled to Sandusky today. EDIT: CP tickets valid for today are now valid at Kings Island and at Wildwater Kingdom (at the former Geauga Lake).
-
^ At Maverick now. Wearing a Scream for A Kid Again Banshee shirt.
-
I'm 8th in line for Millennium Force ERT. There's quite a crowd at the park already.
-
^ I was here at 6. You're all late.
-
I'll be going to bed in about an hour, hoping to be out the door at 3:30am and on the peninsula by 6:00am. I'm not sure what I'll be wearing. Probably gray shorts with either a Banshee Media Day, Banshee Scream for A Kid Again, Banshee First Rider, or plain green t-shirt. If anyone wants my phone number (who somehow doesn't already have it), send me a PM. We should try to get together for a group picture at some point.

I really don't think that a change to the repeat riding procedure will take the enjoyment away from anyone. If it did, as Don said, that person would be participating for the wrong reasons. You've been generous with this and with other events in the past, and I know that you enjoy helping others. That is the purpose of the event; it's not about achieving a certain ride count. There will be plenty of opportunity to get lots of rides in. I'm sure that all who participate will have a great time. I wish that I could be there.

^ CP's website still mentions that parking includes a $0.50 causeway toll. If you enter to drop someone off, you'd be refunded $14.50 of your $15 parking fee. It was my understanding that the segregated toll was kept for legal purposes. I believe that the toll has been there since the causeway was constructed. -
Already being discussed at http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29577-teas-2013-attendance-report

The menu looks basically the same, except this has grilled BBQ ribs instead of pulled pork. The former is generally more expensive. $13 for season passholders is a good value, especially if you make use of the included soft drinks.
