The stock prices, as a dollar figure comparison, are not remotely important. It's apples to oranges because SIX has 84~ million shares outstanding and FUN has 56~ million shares outstanding. Market Cap. = what all the shares would cost based on current share price. SIX = 5.5 billion FUN = 3.2 billion Even that comparison is silly though because it doesn't take into account debt or a million other relevant factors.

Canadas Wonderland - Currency, prices on website
TheLip2 replied to TheLip2's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I thought all the prices were tax inclusive? In addition, with the drink deals, meal deals, etc requiring the use of your pass now, how could they not replace at another park if you lost it there? -
I was wondering if the prices on Canada's Wonderland website are in US dollars or Cad dollars. I actually visited the website through a vpn making it look like I was in Canada and the prices for platinum passes and meal deals are the same price as their American park counterparts. I have to assume the majority of visits are from Canadians and that they expect the prices to be in $Cad. Considering this, I assume prices are indeed $Cad. If prices are $Cad, wouldn't platinum holders be wise to process passes or add-ons through the Wonderland website and therefore rendering a greater than 20 percent discount based on a current currency conversion rate of .7934 usd = 1 cad? If anyone that has experience or knowledge of this could post or pm me I would appreciate it.

WCPO: When the Timberwolf was the soundtrack of summer
TheLip2 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
There was no entrance that didn't require park admission. As mentioned, there were combo tickets that provided great value. There were also stand-alone tickets for concerts for those that had passes or had already purchased a park admission. In the early years $5 was the typical price. In the 80's I saw...38 Special, Beach Boys, Air Supply, Huey Lewis, Starship, Reo Speedwagon, etc. -

It's really simple....do you think anyone is reading this thread to see whether you like tapatalk or anything else not related to Kings Island? It's hard enough to read this thread with all the posts without reading a bunch of useless non-sense. I realize you are probably part of the "ME" generation, but have some respect for WHY people are on here. I can assure that this is not a forum or post about your preferences for utilizing the internet. Peace out.

What i am having trouble understanding is why would this particular coaster cost so much? Lets just say it is an invert. Why so much more of a price tag than other inverts around the world? It could be very long. We don't know for sure 100%. Of course, the cost of steel goes up every year. Plus anything else that we have not yet decoded. The cost of steel has generally been DECREASING over the last 3 years or so.

GateKeeper Restraints

Same experience for me except I am 5'10" and 190. After an extended wait on the final break run due to technical difficulties I thought I was going to die. Very comfortable until they have ratcheted down so tight that you can barely breathe. -
A fairly current book "Rumor Psychology: Social and Organizational Approaches" discusses workplace rumors. One of the studies included in Rumor Psychology surveyed public relations professionals from Fortune 500 companies about the veracity of organizational or workplace rumors from their own experience. The authors found that most workplace rumors are 95 percent accurate.

Really? There is a chance they might not have went with a company wide decision which would not have made it 50-50. Further, although the odds may have been miniscule at best, RC could have got the contract. Lol

I have NEVER been to Cedar Point on a day when that ride did not have downtime. Many days, SIGNIFICANT downtime. Please don't built that at KI.

Guess what? Season pass prices this year were the same as last year's prices, except this year they instituted a new program: Funperks. This program gives you FREE STUFF THAT YOU DIDN'T GET BEFORE and it is at NO ADDITIONAL COST! What is to not like? They got bugs, the program is ambiguous and is not perfect, but guess what? Even if it was random, they are giving you more value and free food and beverage at no additional cost to you. BE HAPPY! You guys on here are like players at the casino losing $300 to get their "FREE" buffet. Lol I do have one question though if anyone with KI is watching . . . Why have I been told on certain occasions that if I am buying a beer or alcohol that those purchases are not eligible for the program and on other occasions I hand them the pass and it is scanned without saying a word. Do the alcohol purchases count or don't they? Alcohol is not listed on the program FAQ as an excluded item and at $8 per it would be nice to get "perked." I don't think it would be a violation of Ohio liquor laws, but I am not as familiar with those as Indiana's which are typically much more restrictive.

With the extremely high cost of new rides, I am very surprised that this ride is not moved to another park which is lacking in rides. -
Caesars gets key permit for Vegas Strip wheel
TheLip2 replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The casino business has "went to hell in a hand basket." Vegas has a lot of problems other than the tough economic times in my opinion. The proliferation of gambling around the US in the last 10 years has been nothing short of astounding. That takes a huge bite out of the Vegas economy. The cost to get to Vegas has increased as airfare rates have steadily climbed due to less competition and high fuel prices. High rollers or "Whales" of the international variety that used to come from Asia now simply go to their own new gambling mecca Macau. Actually, the M Resort was a project that was finished during that time although it technically is in Henderson NV. A billion dollar project completed and opened in March of 2009. It was acquired by my employer Penn National Gaming in October 2010 for 231 million which was less than the cost of the land alone in the original project. Talk about a sale price. Brand new casino 75% off. -
A short blurb about pin trading at Knott's and briefly discusses some of Mr. Ouimet's influence in the company. http://behindthethrills.com/2012/07/cedar-fair-joins-disney-and-universal-in-pin-trading/ It seems like a great idea to me. I like it. It is also another way to get guests to interact on a more personal level with the staff or "cast members."

I am considering a little road trip next leaving next Sat afternoon and probably going to a couple parks on Sun, Mon or Tue. Probably just two of the days. We have Cedar Fair platinum passes. We have already been to Cedar Point this year. I have been to Kings Dominion last year. Girlfriend has never been there. I am trying to keep expenses to a minimum and will probably be packing a cooler and food and driving to run this on as low as a budget as possible. Trip A) Go back up to Cedar Point and probably spend a couple of days at Put In Bay seeing the World Famous Menu's Band from Cincy. Problem - put-in bay is not cheap by any standard. Girlfriend would like to hit The Firesides Winery up that way though. Trip Drive about 10 hours east to Dorney Park go there one day and Hershey Park which is very close one day. Trip C) Drive slightly less to Kings Dominion and then hit Busch Gardens in Williamsburg one day. Trip D) Drive slightly less again this time to Carowinds and also hit Dollywood. I haven't been to Dorney Park, Hershey Park, Busch Gardens, Carowinds or Dollywood. All opinions welcome considering the parks. Thanks, Scott

... that was me. I believe my family was in that end of the park when I saw a group of people "not dressed like park patrons", if you know what I mean. They were over by the race cars looking at SOB and making hand gestures. Wanted to hear what they were talking about, but not trying to be obvious. I didn't move, but on their way back (and they weren't being quiet or secretive about it)- one of them said, "well, we have a few months before that announcement is made." Someone mentioned above that they thought it would be a few years before something is in there. My guess is that they have known this outcome for some time, and were keeping it up until they had a plan ready for the area. If I were a betting man, I'd say that the area will be an ongoing project for the park in a new area with a first phase opening of 2014. I would guess that they had a really good idea in May. When I told you what Mr. Ouimet said. The final decision may not have been made, but I think it was certainly going to take an EXTREMELY compelling solution for Mr. Ouimet to agree to "save" SOB. It certainly seemed like he had already made up his mind by the time that we had spoke on that day in May. I want to take this time to thank all my detractors and the people who called me a liar. While I certainly can't prove (at this time) that the conversation took place or that I reported it accurately, I do feel a certain amount of vindication. Maybe a member here will meet Mr. Ouimet someday and ask him if he ever "spilled the beans" to a guest about SOB before the official announcement, probably not, but you never know. Maybe a member would have that conversation and report it here and maybe then that member would be called a liar. LOL While I would love some more vindication, I would suggest that if any members here have the opportunity to meet and talk with Mr. Ouimet that they think of more important things to talk about because he is truly an engaging and dynamic person.

I own FUN and have done very well. That said, I personally believe that FUN will struggle with $33 and I see $35 as a very tough barrier. If I wasn't playing it based so much on the dividend performance I would sell. Also, the fact that your dividends (which technically aren't dividends) usually aren't going to be subjected to the normal tax rate due to FUN being structured as a limited partnership are another plus. (Except at tax time when you try to deceipher a K-2 - which isn't very FUN, but is FUN at the same time.) I am also not a financial advisor of any sort except at my job where my best advice is mostly ignored anyway.

My pass also worked fine at KD last June. I was holding my breath at the entry due to Terpy numerous posts about the problems there, but it worked.
