  1. Hearing about all these kids reaching these height restriction thresholds is great. My son, Mr Saturday Nite Jr., is -4 months old, and I am looking forward to creating family Kings Island memories with him.
  2. I love this thread and all of the pictures! I also want to thank gad198 for sharing that excellent story about his opening day experience on FoF! Stories like that are why I follow KIC, and why I love Kings Island.
  3. A few years back, I heard that Kings Island was going to limit smoking to small smoking areas scatterred throughout the park. Oh, wait...
  4. Ah, memories. My first day working at Kings Island was at the games booth next door to that building. It was particularly interesting because I was a merchandise associate! I had so much fun, and when I got home I irritated my wife the whole night with my mic voice.
  5. I'd like to see a system using the gold passes at KI, where you can load up your pass with meal vouchers throughout the season at a reduced price. It would be a good perk for passholders and it would help the park keep passholders from leaving the park to eat.
  6. Does it mean anything that after the interview in the video, the guy goes to the Dippin' Dots stand?
  7. Rejuvenating Tower Gardens wouldn't be very difficult, and would be a great improvement to the park that everyone could enjoy, including non-riders. This is what I would like to see done: 1. Move the smoking area outside of the Gardens, 2. Restart the waterfall and circulate the water in the ponds. 3. Put in a wide variety of flower beds. 4. Add seating throughout the gardens, including some tables on the lower platform by the waterfall. 5. Make it a priority area for park sweeps.
  8. Is that a fire hydrant? Are they finally going to burn SBNO down? Or are we getting a dog-themed attraction?
  9. Okay, I'll take your challenge to argue the entertainment aspect. Last year, my wife and I went to the first HPB show. Puppet (the main guy) started with his long show introduction followed by this visual aid and description of Dwarfs vs Midgets: Puppet asked one of the ring girls to sit down in the ring with her legs in front of her. He sat down next to her and from the lower hips up they were the same height. He then explained that unlike midgets, dwarfs were the same size in EVERY way as a normal man from the lower hips up. This girl was stuck in the ring and sat there with a very embarrassed look on her face. He then proudly offered to prove it to any willing ladies in the audience. We personally did not find this at all entertaining, and had trouble finding the relationship between a wrestling show and learning about a dwarf's private parts. If others find the HPB show entertaining, by all means enjoy! Shorter ride lines for us. Blame it on my juvenile sense of humor, but I would've enjoyed that show.
  10. Well, Son of Beast is on it's second probation.
  11. Yesterday, while waiting to ride BLSC, a woman pulled a cigarette out of her pocket and asked me if I had a light. I said "I do, but you can't smoke in the line." She didn't really say anything after that.
  12. I don't remember my personal best, but I usually get just over the Master Blaster threshold of 1,200.
  13. I just wanted to be sure you guys were aware that the height restriction on Diamondback is 54" not 48"
  14. Wow! That's 920 feet! I can't wait to ride it!
  15. Wait, so this whole ACE thing w/ Raptorguy and Russ is real? I thought Russ was just making all that up because of Raptorguy's "ACE police" comment.
  16. In line for Drop Tower today, girl in front of me asks other girl in front of me: "Do you wanna ride Son of Beast before we go to the other side of the park?" Other girl in front of me says "Nah, I don't wanna ride Son of Beast." Good thing she said no, they would've been waiting a long while to get on the ride.
  17. "Like 'A Tribe Called Quest'" LOL. BLSC's name is like "The United States of America." It's not a name, it's a description. Same with Drop Tower.
  18. I've heard the song that serves as the intro to the "Big D Podcast" a few times. It's the first 45 seconds of this video. Sorry, I lack embed skills. The first time I heard it was also the first time I rode after I scheduled my WDW trip this fall. I teared up a little. Edit: For the sake of being that guy, I believe you mean "Flight of the Valkyries" when you say "Kill Da Wabbit"
  19. You can find some of KIC's best guesses for question 1 here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22123&st=0&p=390581&hl=+strange%20+signs&fromsearch=1entry390581
  20. To drive the point home, A backpack fell on California Screamin' on Friday, stopping the ride and forcing an evacuation. This is why I love my fanny pack, even if it does look rather dorky.
  21. I would be quite happy to see the parking lot get some love. A nice repaving job would be satisfactory, but a redesign would be a great idea. In a dream-world scenario, I'd like to see it get the solar panel parking lot covers that the zoo has. Alternatively, a garage structure would allow the park to remove part of the lot without sacrificing capacity. If they took out the parking area by Boomerang Bay, they could free up a lot of room for a waterpark expansion by building handicap accessible bridges over the existing employee and service roads. Edited for grammar and clarification.
  22. I've been on it twice this year, and the second time I noticed the new lighting effects. It certainly helps to make a boring ride somewhat enjoyable.
  23. I was taking a break in the smoking area next to Zephyr. The ride op asked if the riders wanted to hear a joke. "Two mushrooms got into a crowded elevator. One said to the other, 'there's not much room in here.'"
  24. Been on it 3 times thus far: twice during the day and once at night. I loved the ride the first time I rode it, then I fell in love with it when I saw it at night!
