Not an expert, but I would think if the footers were actually sinking, they wouldn't be sinking evenly, which would damage the entire track and cause the ride to become unridable. As an aside, I love The Vortex. Last year, when i was working in Ride Photo, it was by far the most challenging and busiest ride because of the incredibly short time gap between groups of exiting riders. This not only helped the time fly by, it helped me solidify my standing as one of the top sellers in the eyes of management. Another aside, I love CedarPointer's avatar!

Since I worked in ride photo last year when the flash drives were launched, I wanted to jump in on this conversation. To answer the original question on this thread, if you remember your photo number, you can purchase it at any point later in the day as a print or as a flash drive upload. Some of the associates will tell you that the photos are deleted after a 1/2 hour, but they're lying to you to try to get you to buy the photo immediately while your adrenaline is still high (I wasn't one of them). The flash drive itself has a very small memory, so putting more than 4 photos on one doesn't work. Besides, if you're going to drop another $30 bucks on 4 uploads, you might as well get yourself another flash drive to get your money's worth. On the question of $2 uploads onto a personal flash drive, remember that on the 2 rides that offer emailed copies (Diamondback and Boo Blasters), an email copy is $2 but only with the purchase of a print package (last year's prices, they may have changed since). Also, since I'm no genius, I don't know what risk could be posed to the parks' photo computers if anyone can plug in a flash drive, especially since the two locations I mentioned use the display & print computer as a register as well. Credit cards are accepted. At 7 of the photo locations, they use the same registers as many of the food locations.(fun fact)

@Mexican Eric Bischoff: Any chance we can get a Hitler discusses KI ticket prices vid?

Beast plaza has definitely improved since the time that photo was taken. I just wish they would figure out something with Ye Olde Abandoned Drink Stand in The Beast queue. Even if they just took out the signage and made it look like a run-down country village, it would be a huge improvement to the theming of the queue.

It has a roof. My guess is that it didn't in the earlier days, when life was simpler and people's kids didn't climb all over the fences.

Not to beat a dead horse by coming back to this, but I hope that this new exhibit helps bring out the scientific counter-arguments to your viewpoint regarding the age of the Earth. The Cincinnati area is abundant in fossils from the Ordovician Age, approximately 450 million years ago. However, in spite of the Old-Earth evidence that is literally under our feet and noses, the Young-Earth idea is considered by many in this region as "mainstream." Our area even features a Creation Museum that was advertised by the Reds at GABP last year. The fact that a major attraction in this area will be presenting the scientific evidence for an Earth that is much older than ancient texts proclaim is a positive thing for fans of science and knowledge. Edited to un-capitalize "region." Re-edited to make "450" "450 million"

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues

Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at the webcam a minute ago, I think I see some queue line switchbacks in place between Racer and the blue fence. -
Interesting over night webcam observations

It looks to me like the brown part of "what he's holding" is actually his right forearm angled toward his left shoulder as he's holding a walkie to his mouth. -
Nah, Disney would sue. Just had to.

People have a right to criticize or praise the park and it's actions. This is a fan site after all, and one of the purposes of a fan site is to give people a forum to debate whether or not the park is worthy of praise or criticism. Problems arise when people take this stuff too seriously. In the end, it's just a park. It's a park that we all have strong feelings about, but it's still just a park. While it would be terrible if the park was gone tomorrow, our lives would continue on. Life's just too short to get worked up over something that a park does that we don't like or over people who don't like something our park does. By all means, debate and discuss, but it's just not worth getting angry over. If KI does something that bombs, odds are they'll set it right. If this is successful and gets more people through the gate, then that works out better for all. Remember, Kings Island itself wasn't all that popular an idea to begin with.

A what? I have never heard of that. Not this again.... He means psycoaster.

To be fair, Coney Mall is a big area. At one end, you have The Racer entrance and the old-timey flats, and at the other end, you have The Vortex, WindSeeker, BLSC, and (until further notice) Action Theater. Meanwhile, the space between X Base and Vortex is a dead zone with an abandoned food building, a pitiful arcade, the abandoned Flight Commander queue and Eurobobbles. Putting the entrance to Dinosaurs Alive in this area allows the park to address the whole of Coney Mall in one season. Edit: I use too many commas.

I'd be happy with some atmosphere work. It'd be nice to see improvements to the landscaping, and I would love to see Racer with a retro paint job like in the Brady Bunch episode. I also would like to see some street performers as well. And how cool would it be if Tower Gardens was an actual garden? I have an idea for a promotion for the park next year. I'm not sure how economically feasible it would be, but what if the park randomly selected a few days through the season, sent out an online blast via facebook, twitter, and their website offering the first, say, 500 guests who bought tickets online a chance to buy at the original price of $6 each. (This is where I get laughed off the forum)

It's my fault actually. Firehawkboy posted this in Kings Island originally and I tried to refer him to the 2012 thread, but I think I got my links crossed... sorry.

Skyline has fries with shredded cheese, but they don't melt it for you. Yeah, but the heat from the fries melts it and oh my, it's soooo good!
-
Off topic: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Cheeeeeeese fries. I just wish i could get some w/ shredded cheese melted on top, rather than the little dipping sauce cups.

That is so cool! Thanks for posting. I've always wanted to see one of those in action.

Just wanted to point out the caption for the picture of the crane on KI's website. "Bring in the cranes! There ought to be cranes!" - Now where have I heard that before? http://www.visitking.../WindSeeker.cfm -
That reminds me of a certain restaurant chain's slogan: Dinosaurs. What You Crave! Oh no, please don't! That was a terrible movie! 1. It's been pointed out on this thread already that gas comes from dinosaurs. 2. If I do watch that movie it'll be because of all the "Walk The Dinosaur" posts.

Pretty good. A few times if it's worth it.

I intend to take my 8 yo nephew to the park a lot this year, and I think this could be a fun attraction to go through w/ him once or twice. Now, if I was a parent whose kids wanted to go through this attraction, I would make them work off the fee either around the house or by getting good grades on their final report cards. Of course, it's easy to say stuff like that when you don't have kids. I don't know about y'all, but I'm going to get on Netflix and marathon the Jurassic Park series. Or maybe watch this film: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=M-5l-gxFd7E Edit: (@ standbyme - post 1391) Is that where White Castle's meat comes from?

To try to steer things back on topic, how much of the trail/path/walkthrough do you think they've completed? At the very least, we know they've gotten their hands on a giant T-Rex. I think they might have already cut the hole in The Racer support structure necessary to access the area. It's certainly something they want to have done before the park opens, so they can test and run The Racer. Outside of that, maybe they've already cleared some of the trees. It'll be interesting to see how they get this up and running from a logistics/construction standpoint.
