  1. And I find Silver Dollar City better than Dollywood in every conceivable way except rides... And in that area, it's not far behind at all. And Dollywood is one of my favorite parks, so that shows my thoughts on SDC.
  2. I think this relates to the conversation at hand: http://thegentlemansarmchair.com/comic/satans-creation-part-2/
  3. Valleyfair! Darien Lake Indiana Beach Kentucky Kingdom Pre-Fury Carowinds. I thought the park was great when I visited in 2012. Now it's not underrated anymore, because Fury definitely gave it a reputation boost. And on the flip side, tremendously overrated parks: Cedar Point. Canada's Wonderland Kings Dominion Holiday World (I love the park, but it's FAR from one of the best.)
  4. ^ A HUSS Giant Top Spin? "An exciting new adventure is coming in 2002"
  5. And the disassembled, rusty mess that is clearly piled up in pieces and plainly visible (if you know where to look) from a main road just across the street from Darien Lake. Yes, I know there are other green INTAMINs, but the green track (for a yet-to-be-built coaster) at CSF IS green track, and DOES resemble a certain type of INTAMIN track. So it did exist all along, it just took several years to actually show up
  6. I just realized something... That green track sitting at CSF looks an awful lot like... GREEN INTAMIN TRACK! Don't believe me? See here, Le Cobra at La Ronde, an INTAMIN Stand-up coaster: (photo from http://www.negative-g.com/la-ronde/2014/la-ronde-2014-20.htm ) We finally found that long-coveted green INTAMIN track, guys!
  7. He would be the last person to ever let a "King's Island" typo or autocorrect failure slip through. (No worries, I had to correct the Android keyboard when it did that to me a couple days ago.) Unless he was saying something about the former King's Island Motor Speedway. Then he might put in the apostrophe.
  8. Perhaps he means, what we're looking for isn't green, and therefore is not the track currently sitting at Clermont.
  9. I will continue to disagree with that. Having ridden in both many times, 7-1 is consistently leagues smoother than 5-1 for me.
  10. Sorry if I came off as rude, it wasn't my intention, though it definitely appears that way. Sorry about that :/ Yeah, those Vettels are really rare, so there's not a lot of information out there about them. To my knowledge (which is certainly not THE definitive source of information), the only set in operation are the ones on the Kennywood Jack Rabbit. There is another Vettel coaster out somewhere in (I believe) Colorado, so maybe it has a set of those trains too.
  11. Still holding out for the return of Windex ERT... Somehow, I don't see that treat ever coming back...
  12. The website can say whatever they want about those trains. Doesn't change the fact that they are Vettels. See also the Kennywood Jack Rabbit. As of last year, they were running ONE of the NAD trains, with probably not many more than six working rows, and those that do work have pool noodles instead of proper padding on the restraints.
  13. I sure hope not! I hadn't heard this rumor, but I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for news on that one, because if it does end up being true, I'm gonna have to make a pilgrimage. Excalibur is one of my favorite inversionless Arrows.
  14. Probably comparable to riding Mamba completely by yourself on a foggy, wet day while being pelted with raindrops that feel like needles. I agree, good times indeed.
  15. I have heard from some regular visitors to Dorney that visitors to the dry park will rarely, if ever, need a Fast Lane Pass on any day barring a Saturday of a Holiday weekend. However, as their Fast Lane Plus is good on several waterpark attractions, it would definitely be worthwhile for a waterpark fan. Not having ever been to Dorney, I cannot confirm any of this, just regurgitating what I've heard.
  16. Well, there's me (2014), my roommate (both in college and now) (2015), and the other two are older, one graduating in the late 80s and the other, who just started a few days ago, is probably a 90s grad if I had to guess, but he's not in my department and I've only even seen him once, so I can't be certain.
  17. And there are now four Muskies in my workplace here in Cincinnati! And I don't mean Xavier grads.
  18. ^^ Yes. I really like things that are simple, reliable, cost effective and do their job efficiently and safely. Must be why I'm not really a big Intamin fan, too.
  19. Maybe it would be called SPLNTRCAT Getting rid of vowels in a coaster name seems to be popular in the industry right now. And, well, if Pat Sajak taught me anything it's that vowels are expensive, so I can't say I blame them.
  20. Sorry I'm late, just needed to chime in on this discussion about the merits of Millennium Force and Cedar Point. IMHO, it is by far the weakest of the North American giga coasters. I find it roughly as interesting as a bucket of lukewarm dishwater (I apologize to alll the buckets of dishwater in the world for that comparison). I think it is the second most overrated coaster I've ever ridden (first being Hades, which was just so incredibly awful that if even one person has ever said ONE good thing about it, it's overrated). Furthermore, the ONLY coasters at Cedar Point on which I have less fun than Millennium Force are Iron Dragon and Woodstock Express. Where Cedar Point shines for me are food and Live-E. Dragon Inn corn dogs are the bomb and cheese on a stick may be the greatest thing ever created by mankind. Luminosity is leagues better in terms of production value than anything KI has or ever has ever had in my memory, excluding perhaps Cirque. But Cedar Point's coaster lineup, to me is basically Maggie, The Streaks, Raptor, Maverick, and a bunch of filler to pad their coaster count. I haven't ridden Valravn yet, so I will hold comments on that until I have. But Cedar Point wins big points with me for Cedar Downs. I could marathon that awesome ride all day long. In terms of rides, Cedar Point is not my least favorite park in the chain *COUGH*Canada'sWonderland*COUGH* but it's close. Cedar Point has a whole lot of decent coasters. Unfortunately, the vast majority are just that. Decent. Personally, if I'm looking for a park with a whole bunch of coasters where every single one of them is right up my alley, I make my way up to SFGAm.
  21. Interesting. I tried and tried to use my phone for parking and it just would not go. Maybe the phone screen is the issue, then, and not the QR code. I wonder if a Platinum Pass with the QR code works at smaller parks without FunPix, such as Worlds of Fun...
  22. You cannot. I tried this recently. The app uses a QR code, but the scanners are only compatible with the one-dimensional barcode that appears on the physical card. If you Apple Wallet has the traditional barcode, it MIGHT work, but I can't confirm.
  23. I'm just glad above all else that the kid is OK. I'll be completely honest, it's very difficult for me to care in the slightest bit about the Gorilla when a young child was in such a dangerous situation that could have so easily cost him his life. I think the controversy here is that he was able to get into that situation at all. And that, I totally get. I'd like answers on that subject too. Once the kid was actually in the enclosure, however, I truly don't think there was any other reasonable solution to the problem. I will fault the zoo for being designed in a way that allowed the kid to be in danger. I will NOT fault them for doing what they did once he was in danger. I've seen people on social media claiming that they should have allowed the kid to get whatever would have been coming to him because he should have known better. Come on guys, he's four. I wouldn't have grasped the danger of that situation at four. And how much is known about the kid? What if he had a cognitive or learning disability. Should he still have "known better" then? Maybe YOU personally knew better at four years old. If so, I'm thrilled that you were such a whiz kid, congratulations! Not every child is the same and you cannot project your own experiences onto this. Saying that the Gorilla should have been spared even after the kid got into the enclosure and to heck with whatever happens to him simply brings my blood to a boil. If a human being, particularly one who may not have known what they were getting into, is in a life-threatening situation, I don't care about animals even if they are endangered. If it were my kid, and they were in danger, I would without hesitation take the animal's life before I let the kid come into harm's way, even if that animal is literally the very last of its species. But maybe I'm just old-fashioned...
  24. And you can also find lots of interesting things with wget. [emoji6]
  25. Just out of curiosity, did you notice if anything was said to the two shirtless gentlemen in Chicken Shack? They aren't in the waterpark, and well, having shirtless people in a restaurant just doesn't seem completely sanitary. Maybe I'm just paranoid and it's actually fine, but most restaurants do have a "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy...
