  1. Yeah I say it's pretty slim to no chance at all you'll get to ride SOB on those days. They said it could take up to 6 weeks just to complete the investagation. I would actually be surprised to see it opened anytime this year. Isn't regural season over in 6 weeks anyway? That would be bought the middle of August. So if it does reopen it will be sometime in the post season, then they may not even bother.
  2. Yeah that fact that are having it on a Monday other than another busier day of the week. It may not be too bad though. It may be like a Saturday crowd insteaed of a typical Monday. But as what has already been sayed alot of factors can play into what crowds will be like. Rain can turn alot of people away. Like I said before too, it all depends on how many people will be bringing friends for free that day.
  3. BAFFD's can be very busy. It all depends on how many Gold Pass holders will be bringing a friend for free. But I'd have a feeling that the park will be pretty busy. Anyone else who has been to a BAFFD can you tell how bad it is. The very first one they had was horrible a few years back.
  4. Well most park accidents are riders fault. Not following posted saftey rules.

Yes I beleive Vortex was the tallest when it opened in '87. I know it was for sure the first coaster to take riders upside 6 times. With Corkscrew at CP in '76 being the first to take riders upside 3 times.
  6. I actually do like the ride myself, when I don't get beat up on it. The only way to avoid it is to sit in the middle of each car. New trains that would actually track may make it a better ride.
  7. It's closed indefinitely while they inspect every inch of the ride. And after they inspect everything, they will decide what changes can be made to make sure this never happens again. This could take up to 6 weeks just for the inspections, and longer if they have to major changes. Then you have Cedar Fair. Do they want to spend the money to make the changes to the SOB. It's too soon to tell what's going to end up happening.
  8. I hit view results (Null Vote) by mistake, before I voted. It wouldn't let me vote for ice cream after that.
  9. Anytime during the week, unless they are a special event going on. Monday's and Tuesday's can be very good days to visit Friday thru Sunday are the busiest days, with Saturday being the busiest.
  10. Blue ice cream yummy! Anyone remember the pink ice cream they tried for a while. I think it was named after Dino?
  11. We had to shut down Vortex do to heavy rains lots of times. Heavy rain used to produce a ghost train. We didn't want to have anyone getting stuck in the C's (Blocks) during heavy rain. I also remember in '99 when the rain affected the senors at Express, also producing a ghost train, and causing setups. We had to walk people off the ride from the first lift, cause they couldn't get the ride going again.
  12. darn what is going on this year? Way to many bad things are happening. Even one at our park.
  13. *Off Topic*** Why do people spell it King's Island? It was never spelled like that. It has always been Kings Island.
  14. Now i'm thinking after reading the news report and watching the video on WCPO, that it happened in the rose bowl? I'm really getting confused. Yeah I also noticed the numbers keep changing. Someone doesn't know what they are talking about.
  15. Here is a new story with video on WCPO. Injured Son of Beast Rider Tells Her Story
  16. There is no way they would have kept the fact that The Vortex got stuck upside from the media. It would have hit the news. I worked at PKI during the power failure in 99. Vortex wouldn't stop in a loop because of a power failure. It would stop on the next setup area. IE (lift hill, c breaks, saftey breaks, ready breaks or station). Gravity would have got the ride to any of those areas that would have came next after the power failure.

    SOB

I think it won't be gone for 2007. But I think they will try to fix the ride again, and if it gets another stike against it, then it will be gone.
  18. Yeah same here. If they do change it back to Kings Island. I'd like to be known as KIVortex.
  19. Of course i'll ride it again. They will not reopen the ride unless they figure out what caused the problem, and make sure it won't happen again. My last ride was on July 4th as well. I rode it twice that day.
  20. Actually CBS screwed us this year.
  21. I would have thought they could have seen if a board was getting weak though? Isn't that why they do the inspections every morning? Who knows how long this timber could have been bad? I remember hearing a pretty bad banging sound while in the loop a few weeks after it reopened. It sounds to me as if this was in the drop into the loop?
  22. I got brusied up pretty bad back in June after riding SOB in the front car. However I rode 2 times on July 4th once in 4-2 and another 5-2, and I didn't have any problems.
  23. I'm sure PKI, Cedar Fair, and the inspectors will do there job to best of there ability to find out what caused the issue to begin with. Then they will decide if it's worth fixing. Would it cost more money to fix the problem or remove the ride?
  24. A part of the ride did fall down, during a snow storm. However the people contructing the ride didn't have it properly braced. One of the reason's PKI sued.
  25. Calm down! Something major happened yesterday! I'm not worred as to when SOB will be open or not. I'm just worried about what caused this problem, and my thoughts are with the people who were hurt.
