  1. It didn't open till July 4th. And then it was down a week later for about another week. But it did run all the way to end of the season, minus the bare bones nights. I'm not even sure SOB has even ran an entire season. It may have back in 2001 or 2002. But it's it's 7 seasons of operation, it has been down more then up. I'm curious to know if it will open with the park this year.
  2. I still wonder how much money they are willing to pour into SOB. I wonder if they are doing anymore track work to SOB this off season?
  3. Thanks, but this has already been discussed.
  4. For CP at least. I was saying when it's time to renew the nick license, they will either renew it, or if it's cheaper to retheme everything to Peanuts, they will probably decided which ever is cheaper.
  5. Yep that's true. I know KI keeps there rides in a safe operating manner. It was just something I read in a book.
  6. I am so over the American Idol thing. It was cool the first couple of seasons, but it getting old. At least to me. Sorry just my opinion.
  7. I remember having a dream about KI several years ago. I was standing and watching Vortex from that path that takes you to Rivertown, and I saw someone fall out in the loop. I also had one about SOB. The train was coming over the top of the lift, and the whole top part of the turn into the drop fell. I have no idea what makes us dream weird things like that.
  8. Whoops, He always tried to eat the Smurfs, but I guess he got tired too. LOL!
  9. That's is true. I guess they are saving KI's ride budget for 2009. We shall see. But Top Gun does need repainted bad, and it should be a priority. I once read in a book, that if the ride doesn't look like it's kept up, as far as paint chipping, rusting etc... Then how are the actual moving parts of the ride kept up. (Trains, electrical systems, chain etc.) I would like to believe that KI does a good job on keeping the rides in a safe operating manner. But you have to say it does make you think.
  10. The first half also has King Cobra, Racer, and Adventure Express. It's so cool watching this now though, as it has old school KI commercials, and other interesting old commercials.
  11. Anyone remember that Smurf movie that was really horrible? The voices were totally wrong. I went and saw it as a kid, and we walked out of the theater it was that bad. Lalalalalala sing a happy a song.
  12. Yep that's how I read it too. Instead of them painting Top Gun. He's saying they are thinking about ways to cut cost.
  13. The Sound isn't horrible, you just have to turn the volume up. I wonder if they are a way to restore the sound?
  14. Yes it's the same at KI. But she was only on the ride for 3 weeks, not really a lot of time in my book to learn how the ride should sound etc... Also sounds like they only had 2 operators at the ride, who knows how long the other one worked at the ride. I just don't understand still why she was so far away from the e-stop button? Maybe she freaked out when she heard the snap and didn't know what to do?
  15. If an expensive restaurant in an amusement park has to change it's name, does anyone really care? I totally ignore Bubba Gump's as well as Happy Days/Preston Tucker's because the prices are so dern high. I'm not rich dangit!!!! I could see Happy Days being changed to a Coasters easily. It's also has a 50's diner theme.
  16. Yes B & M, wasn't Iron Wolf the first stand up they bulit?
  17. The worst stand-up I rode was Iron Wolf. That banged my head around way more then FoF did when it had OTSR's. As far as KI in 2008, I doubt we'll see much as new rides go, but new names, new signs, and new shows I do except to see. I do think 2009 has something big for KI.
  18. He said he was almost on it. 20 years of family fun, come to join us everyone....... It's hard to believe we have already celebrated the 35th anniversary of Kings Island. Boy how time flies. Take me to The Island!!! I also have it on tape, but the sound isn't all that great anymore. Isn't it kinda funny that the last full year before Paramount it was the 20th anniversary, and the first full year after Paramount it was the 35th anniversary.
  19. I wouldn't mind Invertigo and that makes the most sense to me. Just as long as they don't call it Head Spin.
  20. Thank you CoasterRZ I guess I should have said Waterworks, I was making it sound as if the park was only 30 acres. LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that about WW in 1997. Kinda weird indeed.
  21. Well they definitely need to fix the damage done to the sign when they removed such decorations, which I'm sure they will.
  22. The park did expand to 30 acres back in 1997. But I have heard that 15 acre fact thrown around alot of times in the past few years. I also thought when Waterworks opened in 1989 it was 15 acre's? Anyone know more?
  23. Kings Island has 16 and 17 year old ride ops. It was nice at Dollywood most of the ride ops were adults.
