My question is when did it become necessary to carry everything you own to an amusement park. It used to be the only things people carryed was the ocassional stuffed animal. If it doesn't fit in my pocket I don't need it.

Well yes, I think that's part of it. I'm sure they'll use the data gathered to figure out what the typical buying patern is and allow them to customize your gold pass or serve your experience better. I don't see anything wrong with it, similar to a kroger plus card, they get a little info on my buying habits, I get coupons directed towards the things I buy so I keep coming back. Its a win/win for both sides. I don't see anything wrong with it either I just think we need to be mindfull that the park is a business that has to make money. There are alot of comments about eating outside the park and I think that may have caught the attention of the powers that be.

Does anybody else wonder if they are tracking how much season pass holders spend in the park to decide whether or not to continue Gold Passes or increase the cost? I always buy something every visit since I feel a little guilty about spending 70 bucks and playing on their 25 million dollar toy all year.

Cedar Fair is turning KI back into a park, I always felt like KI was just a commercial during Paramounts days.

Glad to see someone else feel the same way I did last Friday, I left at 11:30 and was feeling like an old grump until I saw this. You did forget to mention all the screaming about hurting their lower male anatomy.

I would remove SOB, move Stunt Coaster to the Action Zone (I think it would be a better fit there), have GCI build a terrain coaster in the valley where SOB was and build some sort of antique car family type ride with a lot of landscaping again in the middle of the park.

I have ridden ir hundreds of times. The first was the most memorable, it was September '79 I was 18 and was with my girlfriend now wife, her sister and their niece. We got in line just before dark and rode after the parks closing time. The cars had the common lap bars no seat dividers or seat belts. We topped the first hill and all we could see was the tracks disappearing into a hole with a light next to it. This was the ultimate night ride as you had no idea what to expect since Kings Island stayed tight lipped and all you knew was what you saw from the park.

I just noticed it had been changed a few years ago, I usually sit on the right side.

The train was my favorite ride at Coney Island and I still ride it every time I'm at Kings Island. I would like to have it not be a ride to BB but an attraction itself. By the way when and why did they change the Golden Lamb?

Thanks, As much as I hate the smell of gear oil in cars I do miss the smell on roller coasters. I always slide down and push my gut out for clearance but I ussually get a visit from an overzealous ride operator that pushes the restraint down with all their weight.

What else has changed? Like I said in the standing 3 feet from 74 thread the the final dip and head choppers were removed and trims have been added on the turn arounds but what else happened to slow it.

I agree 100 percent that The Racer should be brought back to it's original glory. It was soley responsible for the popularity in roller coasters to be left looking the way it does. I'm sure with Don Helbig having something like 12,000 rides it has to eat at him to see it in this condition. I'll set myself up for a beating with this question but does it seem like it doesn't have the airtime it used to or am I just too heavy?

Who knows his real name is Dan Pugh.

Sorry again seeing the picture reminded me of him saying that he isn't actually in the picture. I just thought it was funny because i remembered seeing the indians in sneakers when they had the settler and indian fights.

Thanks for helping me out there, I'm a mechanic and my daytime radio listening is whatever happens to be on in the car I'm driving I'm not always sure what network it is.
-
I forgot to mention looking at the train station pictures that Dan Patrick on ESPN radio said he worked on the train ride, he was the indian in the purple Converse shoes if you were wondering.

I just found this site today and all I can say is wow and thanks to Standbyme and Hendricks for the effort to compare the past and present. Sadly since I'll be 50 this year I go clear back to Coney Island and can remember some of the things that carried over. In the 74 pictures of what was originally called Coney Island most of the flat rides along with the ginko trees were carried over. The one thing I'm surprised by is that no one mentioned the reprofile of The Racer by removing the head choppers before the brake run. Everybody I mention them to doesn't seem to remember them, I think they were removed during the Paramont days. Would have been nice to reprofile that secrion for it's 40th anniversary. Thanks again.
