  1. I have always thought that the Cedar Point freeway system worked pretty well. I think that the reason it does is because they limit the number of passes that they hand out per day, and they only work for one hour. I don't know how the Disney fastpass works, but I've heard that lines at Disney can get pretty long because of their fastpass system. If too many people flood the fastpass, than the regular line doesn't move very fast at all.
  2. If you go to the original website, you can get all kinds of views of the park. You can pinpoint just about any location from that site. I was able to zoom in and find my house.
  3. I think they should bring back the themed uniforms. It adds to the theme of the ride. Anything that adds theming is good, and it's a nice touch. PKI wants to be a theme park? Themed uniforms will go a long way. I realize that it costs more to maintain them, but is it really that much more expensive. If it is, surely there is a way to trim the cost of it at least a little. I say bring them back.
  4. I think that IJST is fine where it is. I would have liked them to move the Eagles over by the FX theatre, or somewhere else instead of shipping them off to Carowinds.

    the pay

Ah leave the guy be. If he wants to work at PKI that bad than good for him. I would suggest finding different housing arrangements though.
  6. They start construction in February, plans to open in April. Don't ride it though, it will only be half built.
  7. If Kings Island wasn't Paramount, than I think that I would like to see Busch running it. All of the Sea World and Busch Gardens parks are great...althought not necessarily themed, they are beautiful and well managed. I don't think that I would like to see Cedar Fair simply because then they would monopolize the Ohio market. No competition isn't good because competition is what drives the "Can You Top This" mentality in the industry. Disney would totally neuter the thrill rides (Can you honestly see The Beast being in a Disney park?) Six Flags can't even manage the parks they have, so I don't wish to see them run Kings Island into the ground. Universal parks are great, but new attractions are few and far between. Quite honestly, Paramount is doing a bang-up job at the moment, so I would rather have them anyway.

  9. There are actually people that think SOB holds a candle to Millennium Force?? Isn't it funny how new coaster topics somehow turn into CP vs. PKI. Sorry to say this on the PKI site, but when one measures by coasters, theres no comparision and CP wins. However when one measures by complete guest experience and ride variety, PKI wins.
  10. I did look at the concept art. I just was hoping that they would actually build something this time instead of rewrapping a 10 year old roller coaster.
  11. I rode the Cobra in it's last year of operation. It was the only time on that ride that I ever feared a little for my life. The trains seemed so rickety and shaky. I thought a wheel was going to fall off or something. I was sad to see it go, but at the same time if they weren't going to let it go like that, than why keep it. Some little park somewhere would like to have it, that is if they could easily get parts for it.
  12. Being a coaster guy, I always would like to see a Beemer or Intamin machine. A launch coaster ala Stormrunner would be good. That ride is great. I was also curious about the whole MTV coaster ride on a previous park survey. I also would like to see PKI pursue a ride like the new DarKastle at Busch Gardens and Spiderman at IOA. Too bad they used the Tomb Raider theme on a flat ride. I can't say that I would vote for a Vekoma flyer though. XFlight at Geauga Lake just didn't do anything for me.
  13. I think that a new area would be a good thing. I understand that attendance has to go up to fill it, but don't things like new rides and themed areas bring attendance up? I know that it's not quite that simple, but what else are they going to do with all that land. Why not make an investment and expand a little. Capitalize on this somewhat newfound "theme" park status by doing something big.
  14. For some entertainment, go on some CP fansites with that whopper. There are some there that would take that rumor and make a 50 post thread full of serious talk about it.
  15. I think that we will see a coaster in 2006. It will have been three years since Dragster this coming year, and we have heard about a flyer for a while now. I highly doubt it's a floorless because they have one of the best, Dominator, at Geauga Lake. The B&M flyer or a water coaster would be my guess. As for land, they have plenty. Besides the land left in the park and the parking lot, they own a hefty chunk on the mainland as well. I suspect that the unplanned, abrupt purchase of Geauga Lake prevented a new coaster from coming in 2005, but hey, what do I know. I do know this, Cedar Point can't afford to just sit by while PKI continues to improve by leaps and bounds. MaxAir will do ok because it's a great ride and many people up north haven't ridden one yet. As the 2005 season starts to wind down, construction will begin along with the hype.
  16. I couldn't bring myself to support something like this. While there is no question that a sim ride that drops you into the middle of Normandy could be entertaining, it's in absolutely terrible taste. First of all, using any kind of real world scenario where so many people bled and died for the sake of entertainment and profit is downright low. Second of all, Normandy wasn't a walk in the park, it wasn't a movie or any kind of Hollywood makebelieve, it really happened, and people really suffered and died. Talk to anyone who stormed Omaha Beach, and see what they think about someone using it for entertainment. Even the movie wasn't truly meant to be entertainment. It was meant to open people's eyes. These people stepped into hell and layed their life down for their country, and for someone to treat it like some kind of circus show would be a disgrace..a slap in the face to anyone who has put on a uniform.
  17. It is a good idea. The trick would be finding enough bands who don't suck. There would probably be a lot of groups wanting to participate, but if you have ever been to or participated in a BOB, than you know what I'm talking about by my previous statement. They would have to hold prescreening auditions to weed out the crap and the raunch (gotta keep it clean for the kiddies). There is nothing worse than for a promoter to have bad acts. As someone who works and plays in the music business, I've seen these things flop a time or three. They should do it tournament style over the course of the summer, and have the final at the end of the season. That would bring interested people back to the park more often. Offer a big fat prize, like a week's worth of studio time in a nice place, some cash or music gear, and a spot on the opening bill of a big Timberwolf concert, and more bands would be interested. The locations would be important. Have the prelims and early stages in PKI's small venues in the evenings, and then when it gets down to the last 4, move it to the Timberwolf with full PA powered up behind the bands. Have the bands do 30 minute sets in the semifinals one day, and then 45 minutes to an hour in the finals the next. With some careful planning, good execution, and some of that PKI PR and marketing magic, it could be a success.
  18. Why aren't they open daily through Labor Day anymore?? This always used to happen, and it still does at all other parks. For some reason this year they aren't open from 8/30 to 9/2, but they open for the Labor Day weekend. I only say this because I was in the Cincy area the other day (9/1) and felt like taking in an evening at the park. Low and behold it was closed. Booooooo.
  19. Good, now that we have the glasses, how about a good show for the other side of the theater.
  20. I like the show as well....up until about 1996, then it sort of loses it's nostalgic value and the comedians that do commentary have to carry it the rest of the way. Not nearly as nostalgic as the 80's series. It takes a few years for things to be remembered fondly. A lot of the 90's contain things that I can't remember with a smile yet. I guess that VH1 couldn't contain themselves...still trying to cash in on the I love the 80's success.
  21. Who knows what they will get if they don't get a coaster. I for one think that the park is screaming for a large steel coaster. It's the one and only thing that PKI lacks right now. They have great non coaster thrill rides, great family & water rides, and a great waterpark, a good steel would put the park over the top. I suppose that they would do another flat type ride, but I think that the time has finally come.
  22. Maybe they are on to help park employees find any "shenanigans" going on. I was in line last year and there were some shenanigans happening behind me....they reeked of a certain kind of smoke....
  23. Discovery did a show on Cedar Point's daily operation, but they didnt really cover anything on off-season preparation. I would like to see something like that as well. Personally, I am fascinated by the workings of an amusement park. I would probably be the first in line to take a behind the scenes tour.
  24. of course the answer for me is SOB. However I don't think I would redesign the whole ride, but just the trains. They are simply too cramped. It really sucks for people 6 feet and over. More legroom, more padding, and new rolling stock would take the ride a long way. They should get GCI to come up with a design. Those coaster cars are nice.
