  1. If they used some space wisely like relocating the entrance of Adventure Express more nearer to its station possibly, they could probably fit in a couple of flat rides. Oktoberfest does need some updates and TLC. The Biergarten bar and repaving of the walkway in 2014 are the only things I can think of that they have done to that area in the past 5 years. Action Zone is pretty much a generic amusement park area now after removing the tacky themes of former Paramount importance in 2014. You cannot really use history as a guide of what a Major Cedar Fair park will be getting. Cedar Point for example had a 5 year break in rollercoaster construction from 2007-2012 but only had two year break from Gatekeeper to Valravn. Kings Island is sort of following the last cycle after Diamondback a little bit but it is still out of order. 2010/2015 Planet Snoopy Expansions but it gets out of order with 2011 being Coney Mall improvements and 2016 being new Soak City slides. So that cycle is void too. And you have to think if we had a five year plan, with Dick Kinzel last being CEO in 2011 being replaced in January 2012 by Matt Ouimet this year would be the last year of that 5 year plan so next year could be quite different. I think whatever the park has in store for 2017, it is going to be an interesting one whatever it is.
  2. Nevertheless the land clearing is fairly interesting, much different from the dirt piles that used to be there as they just cleared those piles of dirt out.
  3. You start planning for that epic theme park roadtrip that will never happen.
  4. This forum is always seemingly very quiet on weekends(especially Sunday). Not as busy as during the weekdays. Can't believe Valravn is nearly done!
  5. I went to a Sea World Park in July, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. I have to say they really do care about their customers. My first day their was not good at all because it rained the whole time. So my mom called customer relations and they were nice enough to give us another day free of charge! We went their the next day and spent a good four hours in the park before leaving. I got to ride Montu, Cheetah Hunt, Kumba(on the first day) and Sheikra. I'm grateful for that and I have a way better opinion of the park because of that second day. Here's the link to that July trip report for those wondering what Busch Gardens Tampa is like: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/31275-Busch-Gardens-Tampa-Bay%3A-The-Make-Up-Day-2 I hope this shake up puts the company in a better direction moving forward from the Blackfish scandal. I would hate to see any of its parks disappear.
  6. I got Vortex,"You aren't afraid to flip things around when they're not going the right direction" I guess that makes sense! Thanks for making this fun little quiz! EDIT: Woah all three of us got Vortex, thats weird!!
  7. I once heard The Way I Feel About You by Kayrn White which was really weird but the beat is so catchy! It sounds 80s but it was made in 1991. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGnBV1HMGG0 Coldplay Viva La Vida https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE Rumour Has It Adele https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1p6Xbqrbx0 No Place I'd Rather Be Clean Bandit very fitting for KI! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiqAiWGdZGA I will think of some more!
  8. I would like to think that Busch Gardens will be planning something big once that big ol SBNO Gwazi is removed and opens up a huge portion of unused land. I hope they do something to fill that hole because filling that hole would make the park much more navigable. I think 2017 will be something in Rivertown.
  9. Renaming of Rivertown to MLB [emoji767] Cincinnati Reds Town! Brought to you by the Cincinnati Reds!
  10. *Exit Intamin stage right* for the time being at least Another Encore peformance sometime in the future??? Shoot the Rapids was Intamins last chance with Cedar Fair in 2010, and they failed miserably. Would've like to have ridden it before this year(as I might be going up there this year, which BTW I need help with planning that trip, will make a thread later about that. ) It was a waste of space and I hope Cedar Point comes up with a better plan for that space in the future!
  11. KI 2017 POSSIBILITY PLAN I was looking over Google Earth and this is what I am seeing for how the 2016 season may change Rivertown, possibly. I snipped an image of it and over One Note sketched out some details of what has already happened(Funnel Cake building razed, new WWC entrance, new Funnel Cake Building, etc.) and what may happen as a result of that. It may be a bit blurry, illegible and not too good but I did my best at it. The Yellow area is the possible expansion area into the woods area(which would be unfortunate to remove all of those trees). The Yellow area could mean anything from a new section of the park to where a possible new roller coaster could fit. The red line is the train tracks which in this plan the Kings Island Miami Valley Railroad would stay and the expansion/whatever it is would maneuver around it. Anything Blue has to do with White Water Canyon. The reservoir will have to stay for White Water Canyon to continue to operate so no expansion into that area. The lighter shades of blue indicate where the new path for White Water Canyon could possibly be at and where the old path (used?) to be. The white shaded thing is where the Funnel Cake stand and the old White Water Canyon entrance used to be. This could be a possible expansion area or entrance to a new area as well. The Pink shaded thing is where the new Funnel Cake building is being built. The Green shaded pen thing is where the Crypt is and where a possible 017 attraction may come(Wonder Mountains Guardian or Voyage to the Iron Reef anyone?). This is what I could see happening in 2017 for Kings Island, but I do not want to get too excited yet. But it was still nice making this little map of some possibilities.
  12. I have believe it or not never ridden Drop Tower(even though I nearly rode it when I was five years old in 2005 but thats a different story for another time ) because it has always intimidated me. I have even ridden Xtreme Skyflyer(which is really worth it if it is 5$ and I would recommend it) but not Drop Tower and I really do not know why... sometime I guess I will. Banshee will for sure make you dizzy, it even makes me dizzy and I love looping roller coasters. But I think you will love it as it is tied as my favorite inverted roller coaster with Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa(I still cannot decide which one is better 6 months later!). I think you will be able to handle it. Delirium will probably not make you sick or nauseous surprisingly. I wussed out of riding it in August 2011 thinking I would get sick on it and throw up. However I rode it in May of 2012 for the first time and I did not get sick at all and it was a really really fun ride. It is my favorite flat ride in the park and I never miss it every time I go to KI. Firehawk is an insane ride when you get on it for the first time as that ride has the biggest example of the novelty fear factor. However it is one enjoyable ride and one of my favorites, I believe the last time I rode it was either April of 2015 or June 2014, I don't know which. I miss out on this ride sometimes because it always has a really long line. I do not know about Slingshot as I have never ridden it, take some other members advice on that one. Hope you enjoy your visit in the Summer of 2016!
  13. The Eastern Corridor thing made me chuckle because that project has gone NOWHERE. And someone was having thoughts about The Beach closing.... in 2005 which it did for one year in 2012 only to reopen in 2013. Thanks for the bump, The Interpreter!
  14. I think the park has said before that they would not be doing an entrance Gatekeeper, Fury 325 Style roller coaster. However plans can change! Welcome to KIC, asianguruu!
  15. When I was looking at the webcam this afternoon before my body decided to take a five hour nap(my body thinks 5:45 is the perfect time to go to sleep) I thought I saw a little bit of land clearing and tree removal where the old WWC Pathway (used?) to be in the middle of that woods. It may just be my eyes playing with me though I will see tomorrow then! I think it's just a little bit too soon to be speculating a giga rollercoaster or any rollercoaster. However if KI plays their cards right they might have enough room in the woods by WWC to build a sizable rollercoaster or at least the area for the station. I don't know though. Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know. I'm excited for the new members on this site who didn't experience the absolute insanity (in a good way) of Banshees speculation, announcement and construction and might be able to experience it soon. Whatever comes of this I cannot wait to see what happens to KI for 2017!
  16. I have been looking at Google Earth a lot. With moving the funnel cake building and moving the WWC entrance it opens up a pretty sizable space. a couple of flat rides and even a roller coaster could fit in their if they used the land wisely. And best of all, they could do that without tearing down the train or affecting some of the other rides. I already cannot wait to see what is in store for KI this year and next year.
  17. Just the media wanting to have more clicks I suppose. The story that this site printed makes the story itself a little bit confusing, I wish they could make it better.
  18. I believe I first rode Firehawk in May 26th or 27th of 2012. I was really freaked out the first time I went on it but the novelty factor wears off after a bit. However I still think the ride is pretty good! I think you will enjoy it! The best part of the ride in my opinion is either the in line twists before the last helix or the loop. The loop is really really intense! If you decide to ride it I hope you enjoy it!
  19. Thank you CoasterOhio for making this thread. I think 2016 will be a great year for Kings Island with the new water slides, new huge parking entrance, and (rumors circulating) a repaved parking lot! The navigation panel seems like a great idea for those who just simply want to catch up on the thread and be able to go to the section that they want to read about. Thank you! Happy New Year Everybody and to all, Have a great 2016!
  20. Just caught up with this thread. I hope Kings Island makes the old toll booth area a new exit. At least I know that there will be less congestion next year on Kings Island drive. [emoji4]. Looking forward to 2016 already!
  21. Kings Island is my top priority as always and it is looking like this will be my fourth year in a row getting a gold(or platinum I really want one) pass. If we go down to Florida again which Ir eally hope we do since this years was really nice and wonderful, I will again ask for Busch Gardens Tampa tickets, it seems like a great park that I did not fully get to experience. From what Terpy has been saying I really should visit Kentucky Kingdom next year and I am going to make that a priority.
  22. When you start seriously regretting not visiting the park more during the past season.
  23. I guess I'm used to the construction of rides such as Banshee. [emoji56]
  24. Did Top Gun not take that long to build as there was little to no clearing where it would be built for 1993?
