  1. I'am just putting 2 and 2 together. The avatar picture shows ??? with Wood structure behind the marks.
  2. I know I have mentioned about Cedar Point's plans for 2014 before in another blog topic. But, today I jumped on cedarpoint.com and took a look at the blog page and discovered a wood structure with question marks in the picture. The tagline says "It's obvious isn't it? :)" My guess is a remodeled, new and improved Mean Streak! Rumor is that the ride will be closing down a few weeks early for maintenance issues. Hmmmm???
  3. Rumor is...Mean Streak is closing down early this fall and could be upgraded to an Iron Rattler type wooden coaster. Screamscape reported this rumor today, I know we cannot trust them. But, it makes sense because if you go to the Cedar Point website and click on the CP Blog page there is a picture with a wood structure surrounded by question marks.
  4. If you plan on going to CP soon, go on Labor Day. I go every year and the lines are 10 minute waits. I rode Dragster last year 6 times in a row 15 minutes before they closed.
  5. Verizon is the best hands down. Coverage at CP and Kings Island is night and day compared to the other carriers. Also depends on what phone you have. The iPhones suck with coverage compared to Android and Windows phones.
  6. 2017 or 2018 will be the next big attraction. Intamin roller coaster, giga or blitz. It will occupy the remaining SOB area behind Banshee and FOF.
  7. As a kid I loved going to Kings Island when Paramount owned the park. The Paramount theme music, theme of the rides, and the souvenirs. As a big sports fanatic, I can remember going to that Sports Gift shop every time, and I still have a few items from that store today. I live an hour from CP and at the time I was more excited to make my once a year trip to Kings Island rather than go to CP. The rides today do not have the same appeal to me as they did back when Paramount operated the park. But yet again I cannot complain with what Cedar Fair did by upgrading the park with newer attractions. We all know that Paramount would never have built anything to the extent of Diamondback and Banshee.
  8. Vortex is a terrible ride. I rode it in July for the first time in 3 years. I cant even keep my head from slamming into the harness on every turn.
  9. According to engineers who designed the Arrow loopers the shelf life is anywhere from 25-40 years. Also Arrow has been out of commission for quite sometime now which means maintaining and replacing parts will start to take a toll soon. Some parks across the country have been removing the Arrow loopers, Six Flags parks mostly. It is only a matter of time before CF begins the chopping block. Also with this new ride opening up next year, I have a feeling they want to replace the old with the new since we all know this thing has inversions.
  10. Flight Deck, Vortex, or Invertigo. Arrow does not exist so parts for FD and Vortex will be hard to keep up with and maintain. Plus the shelf life on those rides are anywhere from 20-35 years according to engineering statistics. Vekoma has not made a ride in years it seems like so same thing goes for Invertigo. We might even see Firehawk go later on in like 10 years if Vekoma goes out of the market.
  11. On a scale of 1-10, I rate Gatekeeper at a 7. The ride is not that fast, but is very smooth which makes the tolerable. The keyhole element inversions is the only thing that makes this ride fun IMO. I have noticed that if you sit on the right side of the train the ride is more comfortable compared to the left. I have been on Gatekeeper 10 times total this year. 8 of those has been on the right side. The left side gave me a major headache both times, which is why I will stay away from going on the left unless I really have to. I am just glad CP constructed this ride at the front of the park. It balances out the crowd because of all the major ride are located at the middle and end of the park.
  12. What does CP alleged "lack of land" have to do with Vortex and Flight Deck future? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk 4 Beta Because Cedar Fair is going to start removing Arrow rides soon.
  13. I agree with Mantis as well. I have not been on that ride in 2 years, I always get a major headache after. I avoid it as much as possible.
  14. Son of Beast with the loop. Now I will say this, SOB was an awesome ride but that ride would beat you up bad! I went on it for the first time in 2005, and my back was in pain for weeks. I enjoyed the ride when the loop was removed and the new trains were added. Vortex, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak are on top of my list as well.
  15. That building use to be the old Pirate Ride, it closed in 1996 and ever since has just been sitting there. The rumor surrounding CP and the lack of land for rides, is that they will be starting to remove rides like the Corkscrew, Mine Ride, and possibly Mean Streak. Which makes me believe if KI unveils an Invert then we will be seeing Vortex and Top Gun removed in the next few years.
  16. I have been hearing rumors about the Midway arcade turned into a dark ride.
  17. With the recent announcement by Kings Island today about August 8th. Cedar Point will be announcing details tomorrow for 2014 as well. I received an email from Cedar Point today that they will be having a contest, stating that they are looking for an energetic family to "spill the beans" They will be posting more information on Facebook about this new attraction starting tomorrow. Any ideas of what this attraction will be?
  18. The Beast 25th anniversary video on youtube had a clip from that exact commercial
  19. Stay at Sandcastle Suites for the same amount of money. Rooms are much nicer, trust me! Too be honest, you are better off staying near the causeway. Hotel Breakers, unless you get a nice suite for $300 a night is mainly not worth it. I stay there every July 4th only because they cut me a deal for staying over 7 years straight so far. The rooms are bad because the beds are not comfy plus it is small, just like a prison cell. But there is a lot to do at the hotel which is a plus!
  20. Okay everyone I need your help! I am working on a project for my engineering class that entitles old defunct rides from amusement parks. Starting from the hype until the downfall of the ride. I cannot find any advertisements for SOB on youtube except for the announcement video with Montel Williams in 1999. I am looking for TV advertisements or pictures, if possible. Any websites that I can be informed of? I have googled everything!!!
  21. The Beast logo won multiple awards in 1979 for the design. No amusement park at the time had a logo so intimidating for a ride. Son of Beast logo was awesome too.
  22. I remember last year weeks before CP announced Gatekeeper, they began to post stuff on the blog section of cedarpoint.com which was actually hard to find on the website. We should keep an eye out for hidden clues on the visitkingsisland.com website this week.
  23. Just a guess...but this 1-31 stuff has me thinking 15.5 since it meets in the middle. 155 foot tall inverted coaster? I hope it is neither an invert or something that is 155 feet unless its a Blitz coaster.
