I've been fairly quiet on there lately...I've just been sitting back being entertained by reading everything.

...when you rarely visit PB since it's even more dead than in the regular season and it's such a hostile environment. Pretty much every thread contains arguing, bickering, and snark comments. The only reason I've gone on lately is to keep my eyes open for any info about an offseason tour. I love KIC.

Cedar Fair's Future in Dark Rides
Ride On_17 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think it would make sense to put it there. 1) KI gets a new ride, and a new family-friendly dark ride at that. 2) That building gets used, or at least the same area which, would please everyone who keeps wanting to do something with it. -
Cedar Fair's Future in Dark Rides
Ride On_17 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My guess is that no big signature structure will be added, but rather every other park will just have a generic building to house the ride. I could be wrong, but I feel like Knotts could get one in its old Dino buiding, maybe KI could get one in the old Crypt building or maybe a new building in that same location, and then there are the rumors for CP to get one, if not in a new location, in the old Pirate Ride building of somehow in the Coliseum. -
Cedar Fair's Future in Dark Rides
Ride On_17 posted a topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
We all know that earlier this year Canada's Wonderland announced the addition of Wonder Mountain's Guardian, a new innovative and interactive family dark ride/roller coaster combination. However, little information about the ride was released. I just came across an articel explaining more of the details of the ride, and it also said we can expect similar dark rides to be added throughout the Cedar Fair chain in the coming years. There were several things I found particularly interesting in this article: -The ride will be customisable, with characters and plot hoped to be able to be changed as easily as being done overnight. This would allow for clones of the ride at various CF parks, but with each park having a completely different experience and theme. Quote from the article: "Unlike Walt Disney, though, Ouimet doesn't mind repeating himself. That's why, if the initial ride is successful, he plans to roll-out clones across the Cedar Fair chain. Because of the customisable nature of the system, too, the ride will even change during the year at Canada's Wonderland - a version filled with zombies is already planned for Halloween 2014. Ouimet claims that Cedar Fair will develop a "library" of content that it can rotate around its parks, ensuring that they always have something new to offer." -It will only have a $10 million price tag. I was shocked to find this out. I was thinking it would be much more expensive, but kudos to Ouimet if he is able to add a world class dark ride at such a low cost. Hopefully it will turn out great despite the relatively inexpensive price tag. This sounds like an awesome ride and it seems like Cedar Fair will be adding more of these to other parks if Wonder Mountain's Guardian is a success, which I predict it will be. I wouldn't be surprised if KI and CP get versions of this within the next several years. Toward the bottom right of the original screenshot image, the date "8/29/12" is visible. So it's not too outdated. If all that stuff was there a year ago, I'd assume it would still be there.

I'm curious in trying out Cedar Point's.

Following the recent announcement of the world's tallest roller coaster going to Florida (Poler Coaster), there are now plans for another world record breaking ride in the state. SkyRise Drop, though not yet a reality but could soon be if approved by the city of Miami, where it would be located, would quickly knock SFGA's upcoming Zumanjaro off of the tallest drop ride pedestal. The towering structure would be the 2nd tallest tower in the country next to the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. It would also be home to a Soarin'-like flight simulator, a 600 foot bungee drop, a large ballroom, and several clubs and bars. It will be interesting to see if this gets approved, because it sounds really cool. I can't even imagine a Drop Tower ride that will be twice the height as Zumanjaro, and that seems plenty high enough already. http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20131125/15132/skyrise-drop-800-feet-tall-drop-tower-could-be-its-way-miami-florida

Welcome to KIC! (Edit: And I was beat by Terpy! ) And yes, those are various pieces and parts of things, and I have also heard that there are parts from the old trams there.

Yeah, just close one eye, tilt your head, and spin around really fast. I'm sure you'd be able to see them.

Just read about the Sinking of the USS Gator. That's hilarious!

That's strange. Well, at least they've changed that.

I recently saw a thread like this over at PB and searched on here and didn't see anything like it. I think it could be a fun way to stay entertained during the long, cold winter while snow covers our favorite rides. You know it's the off season when... ...you "walk" through amusement parks using Google Streetview pretending you're at the park, and you stop by the rides, restaurants, and shops in the order that you would as if you were actually there.

I agree, I think the switchback design would be better suited for a smaller park. I don't see Cedar Fair or Six Flags installing one (well, maybe Six Flags would try to cram it in somewhere at Magic Mountain ) but definitely at parks not as large. I think it could be deceiving. It may not look like much, but I feel that it could end up providing a good family thrill.
-
Wait, so before did Knotts not let anyone wearing glasses ride, even if they were wearing a strap with them?
-
I like both designs. The switchback one looks like it could be pretty fun, and I'm glad that the company's building a new large woodie. I really hope Cedar Fair hops on the wooden coaster bandwagon like so many other parks have been lately. I don't care whether it's RMC, GG, GCI, or even Intamin (unlikely but I'm hopefuly), I want a wooden or hybrid soon.

That's awesome. Just another reason why I love Ouimet so far. Cedar Fair is changing focus, and I'm happy with the direction it's going
