Six Flags: New for 2014
Ride On_17 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Zumanjaro looks AMAZING and I'm glad I'll get to ride it since I go to Great Adventure every year. As for Rolling Thunder, I think many people saw this one coming especially with the latest rumors and messages sent out by the park advising people to get last rides on the coaster. It's sad, but here's why I think it will be removed. For 2015 the park will get an X-Flight clone and it will be built in Rolling Thunder's location. I don't see why the park didn't just wait until next year to remove it (if this is the case), but maybe they just wanted to get it out of the way now as to not worry about it later. Unless the park plans on building an even larger coaster than an X-Flight-esque wing rider, so intead of closing Rolling Thunder only a month or two into the season to demolish it next year the park just wanted to get rid of it now. I personally don't think the removal of RT has anything to do with Zumanjaro, but rather a future expansion/coaster. Time will only tell... -
https://content.sixflags.com/comingin2014/ I am very impressed. Some of these rides and coasters look amazing!

Glad Dorney's getting some love, and hopefully it won't be too much longer before they get a new coaster. That slide complex looks fun! Definitely a great addition.

New in 2014 at Cedar Point!

Jr. Gemini, IMO, is great for really young kids. It just gives them a taste of what it's like to ride a coaster, and if they like it then they can go nearby and try out the more intense Woodstock Express. Jr. Gemini is what can start a kid's love for coasters. I don't see any need to get rid of it. -

The 2014 info page in case anyone hasn't seen it yet: https://www.cedarpoint.com/what-s-new/new-for-2014 It also has videos and renderings. I was surprised by the additions, but I'm very pleased. Not only will a boring, outdated midway get a breath of fresh life, but the park is starting to add more rides the entire family can go on together, and hopefully this is only the start. I have no complaints, and I even liked the family announcement video. I thought it was funny, unique, and memorable. Yes, it was a little over the top, but it was a cool idea and grabbed my attention and got me excited for next year. Oh yeah, forgot to say that I now have Eagles at my home park. Be jealous, all you KI fanboys! -
Favorite coaster EVER

Wood: El Toro Steel: Millennium Force I just can't pick between the two. They're both so different but I love them. If I could marry them, I could. But El Toro is a male bull...That would be awkward... -

We drove past the park on our way to Disney over spring break. I was literally drooling against the window while everyone else didn't even seem to notice (I'm such a coaster nerd). I've never been there but heard it's a nice park. With this expansion I want to go even worse, so hopefully it's be soon. I just can't wait to find out what all will be added to the park!

SFGAdventure--new supports on site
Ride On_17 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I seriously hope this is a giant Drop Tower. I'm dying to get out to Cali to try out Drop of Doom, but since I make annual visits to Great Advencha I'd get my fill. -
They look to be the same color as Kingda Ka's supports. The rumor for the past several years is that the park would be getting a Giga/Giant drop ride attached to KK's tower, similar in concept to LL:DOD at Magic Mountain. I have even heard this rumor from a reliable park worker and with these new supports, I think this pretty much confirms it. Could they be for a coaster? Maybe, but why would they be the same color as KK? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152616811959460&l=3b674271b3

Board to Death really intrigues me. It sounds interesting and is like Cedar Fair's Doll Factory/Happy Jack's 2nd Gen.

On Backwoods Bayou page on the Haunt site, it should say too and not to multiple times. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/haunt/ride/Backwoods-Bayou/cat/Scare%20Zones

My guess is something to do with the Gemini midway/Camp Snoopy area now. I still want a boardwalk, but after seeing this latest pic I feel like that is looking at one of Millennium's overbanks on Adventure Island while standing near Camp Snoopy/Dinos/Gemini Midway. The thumbnail in the blog for Tony's first teaser looks like the supports on Gemini (coincidence?) and the live webcam was moved to the Gemini Midway (another coincidence?) Less than a day to go, and I can't wait!

The website still shows FOF having OTSRs. I even saw it mentioned previously in this thread and it hasn't been fixed. Granted, I don't expect everything mentioned to get fixed right away, but I don't know why--this just really bothers me haha.

Glad you like them. And I love shots that are unique and that have different angles, zooms, etc. I tried out several different shots on Diamondback in particular and posted what I thought were the coolest ones. By zooming in so much, it's also fun to look at the photos on my computer in full screen and examine them. Ex: in one of my DB pics, there are 2 people holding hands. I find these little details to be very interesting, but I also think they complete the "feel" of the picture. You can always go and find many pictures of a ride that all look the same, and both my mom and I like to create new, unique shots that capture the true essence of something or to get it in a completely different view or perspective. And that night fountain shot turned out really cool. There were no special settings or effects added to it; that's what makes it even cooler. Now that I'm looking at all these pics again, I'm craving to get back to KI! EDIT: And one of my favorite shots is the one of BLSC. Timing it just right, the picture was taken just as the train emerged from the tunnel. We were laughing that the train that we happened to take the picture of included several kids that demonstrated the true "feel" of this ride. They were smiling, had their hands up, were making funny hand signs, and just show the fun and family aspects that this ride is all about. I just love it.

Just changed my vote from other to Banshee.

Haha thanks. Our family camera is a Canon Powershot SX50 HS. I took many of the pictures I posted, and my mom also took a few (and we had a random stranger take our family picture in front of the KI sign).

As I had promised, here are many pictures from my trip. Enjoy! I'm the one smiling in the middle of the picture. I'm up there somewhere.

^Probably the most annoyingly overplayed song of the year. Alicia Keys is so talented, but seriously, that song was played wayyyy too much. And I was never a fan of it to begin with.

Rcoaster10 posted this on PointBuzz, and I just had to share it since I love it so much. It's his concept for a boardwalk idea, and if CP gets a boardwalk, I'd hope it would be something like this. It includes a new wild mouse coaster, Flying Scooters, Flat Spin, and Calypso. I'm not sure if this was also Rcoaster10's idea, but I personally think that Calypso should be moved from its current location to a boardwalk to make room for future expansion near Blue Streak. In this image there is also what appears to be a fountain, which could add a nice touch to the area or could be replaced by another flat ride. I also like the idea of a restaurant with a lot of outdoor seating so guests could enjoy the view of the beach and lake while eating.
