  1. If only I had an Ohio RN license....and didn't live three hours away....and could only work at KI during the week...haha
  2. Maybe they should have a paving schedule--start this year near the new entrance and repave X acres and progress each year. Coasterohio, I haven't had a chance to grab the photo from my Facebook, Ive been swamped with work this week. I'll try to get it done tonight if snowpocalyse doesn't require to board at the hospital. (I am a nurse.)
  3. I will attempt to grab them from Facebook and import them here. Or you could just become a Facebook friend. But, they are cell phone pics and as such, may or may not be filtered by my eyes, wanting to see a newly resurfaced parking lot.
  4. A co-worker is staying at Great Wolf Lodge and sent me photos of the parking lot today. It's hard to tell, but it did look scarified. Who knew that looking at cell phone photos of a parking lot would bring a little warmth on a cold day?
  5. If I played the lottery, and if the Powerball was at the level then as is was this week, and if I won, and if it were not for that pesky debt, I may have thought about buying the company back then.
  6. My guess would be either: 1. Budget reduction. 2. Until someone else is hired the duties are split.
  7. ^^ Wonder if he is going to the new SIX park that is under discussion in China?
  8. When you read posts on KICentral, and someone mentions Western Row and you automatically say aloud: "Western Row Road" in a Scooby voice.
  9. I took an opportunity to work PT hours with FT pay and benefits in order to enjoy life more, and as an extension of that, enjoy roller coasters. Currently, I am picking up as many extra shifts as possible to fund my summer adventures. Choices, indeed!
  10. I've been to Dollywood twice this Christmas season and it was incredible. Coasters were open, but lines were short, shows were great, and lighting was out of this world. They did have open fires for s'mores and it was a great addition to the atmosphere. (Smelling the burning wood and seeing the smoke against the sunset at the top of Wild Eagle was a very special moment.) It was my first Christmas event in an amusement park. I could go on and on about how well the park in general is themed and about how magical the place felt to both myself and my friend. I think a big part of the success for Christmas in the Smokies is that Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Sevierville is a resort destination vs. Cincy which does attract tourists, but is much more spread out. It would be awesome to have a Christmas event at KI and since I never attended Winterfest, but I think if it could work, Cedar Fair would know how to do it, given what they can control. In the meantime, I can use my gold pass through the first few days of 2017 for Dollywood's event.
  11. Humor is in the brain of the beholder.
  12. I thank your overestimating how many people go to KK 2014 figures were around 600,000. How many went in 2015, I have no clue. I also have no clue about the number of posters on this discussion board, but I would doubt there would be over 200 since the beginning of the thread.
  13. I think, with many other things, season pass processing is an opportunity for the park to work on. Looking at the parks Facebook page, many people wait long amounts of time. For my 2015 pass, I waited about two weeks, and this was ok for me because I did not plan to visit since it is a relatively short drive. I paid for my 2016 pass during the state fair, and got it in the mail in November (I think, I posted about it here.) The Interpreter evidently is known in the industry and most likely would draw the attention. The average KICentral user, who is not an insider, probably would not. I don't think Mr. Hart and his partners look at each pass and compare passholder names to user names on this discussion board.
  14. Yet there are a handful of posters on this thread who have been to the park and NOT turned away. If you are concerned about being turned away, buy your ticket with cash or at Kroger.
  15. I can only do week day meet ups as I work weekends.
  16. Of course I would!
  17. That article was from 2014.
  18. Faster food service. I would rather have that than trams, a Soak City expansion, pavers, a largest Starbucks in the tri-state area or a repainted Racer. But I really want a repainted Racer, too.
  19. The Interpreter, I was wrong in that choice of wording and I was wrong in my understanding of who was trying to initiate Bluegrass Boardwalk. I have apologized and edited that post to reflect my error. My use of the word was what I thought was a unified family many years ago. I was wrong, admitted it and moved on. I do not see the family as a coalition, just for the record.
  20. Hopefully they will do something about the human grease stains on the Diamondback coaches.
  21. ^I was envisioning the actual solar panels being the pavement. The covered parking being made out of panels makes alot of sense.
  22. ^ I'm all for using technology in a smart way, but this would seem counter-intuitive. Unless is was a super durable material, wouldn't the solar be prone to breakage and therefore leakage of components? Also, for a large percentage of the time solar would yield maximum benefits, the parking lot would be covered.
  23. I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between residential and commercial blacktopping, but a relative of mine had to spend around 10k to have their driveway repaved. Heck, I spent $500 to have mine sealed, and that was the average of the 4 bids I got. In all honesty, I would love to see Cedar Fair spend the extra money and put some permeable paving solutions in. That is a HUGE parking area and has to cause some negative environmental impact.
  24. BB1, I agree with you, but to a point. I was born and raised in Kentucky, but never really did take notice of the park in Louisville til I had left and would fly back here for vacations. I never really even thought about going to the park because Kings Island has been cemented in my brain since I was born. After moving back to Kentucky in the mid 00's, I went, when it was under the former ownership and what I found verified what I had thought. It was so bad, I swore I would never go back. Fast forward to this year---having a conversation at Kings Island with someone on this board, who is a subject matter expert. He encouraged me to visit, because it may not be there in 2016. So I did. And I fell in love. Kings Island will always be my home park. But now Kentucky Kingdom has drawn me in as an alternative for a smaller park and a much closer drive. I root for it to not only stay open but to thrive. Several of my family and friends have not only bought gold for KI, but season passes for KK as a result of my cheerleading. I think that's a great thing.
  25. While it is a long way from being my favorite ride at KI, this year I grew to appreciate Vortex. I had not ridden it for many many years (and the first time I rode it, I vomited) so it was a big deal for me to ride it. I really love the sounds on the lift hill.
