jondrewfoo
So, I have done a lot of research on Kings Island, and especially The Bat. It seemed like such a neat ride, all i can find about it wants me to be able to go back in time and ride it, but it was before my time... Ive discovered plenty of info on it, including pictures, plenty of facts like The Bat caused The Racers to be turned backwards inadvertantly, and that it was closed down constantly because of its poor banking, and the brakes were not great either. so much that the progress of The Bat was in the local paper everyday. i wonder if anyone has any personal stories of them riding The Bat, or maybe some pictures or maybe even a video. i have a onride promo video i found, and it was really neat, but any info on it would be appreciated. tigellinus
It was never open enough for anyone to ride and tell stories about it!!! But in all seriousness, my dad rode it and claimed it was just ok...he thought Screamin' Deamon was a lot better! (not to mention every other coaster in the park at that time) But it was really a blessing in disguise as (and as I'm sure you also read about) KI got a discount on price for Vortex for Arrow's shoddy Bat design. *MY* question is how much did KI *actually* pay for Vortex?? (oh, Interpreter!!!) Because I've heard everything from $0 to like 25% off, so who knows??
The Interpreter
The cost figure reported to the media was $4,000,000.
tigellinus
So then, are we to assume probably $2,000,000 then??? Or did someone's pockets just get greased for like $100K???
padfoot714
My mom always raved about how cool The Bat was. She was really excited for Top Gun but when she actually rode it she was very disappointed. She thought The Bat was far superior.
DeLorean Rider
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GwcqCNiVLbI Racer was turned around to celebrate the parks 10th anniversary, I was always told.

I loved The Bat! I was a little girl and rode it a couple of times. I remember how it would swing out really far and I loved that there were two lift hills. It was a shame that it had problems because the ride over-all was really exciting. I wish I had taken pictures when I rode it, but I was just a first grader what did I know about capturing history? Dang!!! In my opinion it was better than Top Gun. It was a longer ride and it was more intense. You might think that I was too little to remember, but I loved it and I think we tend to remember the things we love and enjoy. I wish I could help you with that going back in time thing, because I would love to ride The Bat just once more! The Scremin' Demon too. I only had a chance to ride that once. Dang!!!!!! Wish I could be more help.
WooferBearATL
I've mentioned it before, but The Bat was an absolutely incredible ride. I'd have to say that it remains my favorite coaster, though no longer operating.
bsktgrvy
I was fortunate to have been able to ride "The Bat" several times but it's been so long ago I don't remember much about the actual ride experience. It was certainly a new thrill to be able to ride a suspended coaster at King's Island so that made it a little scary at first - not knowing what to expect. I remember it as being a fun ride that most people would enjoy - not a real scary ride that would keep some people away.
