Racerrider Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Ive heard a lot from this ride but i dont know if its tru ARE THEY GOING TO TEAR OUT CONGO FALLS whats your oppinion
DeLorean Rider Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Did you create this just because I wrote in the other thread that I thought Congo and Timberwolf would make a good space for a new AZ ride? I would venture that Timberwolf's future is sketchy. Congo and Timberwolf could provide space for a good park addition. Especially since I posted that about 5 Minutes ago.
Racerrider Posted July 27, 2007 Author Posted July 27, 2007 It gave me an idea but ive been hearing this for years
KIfan73 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Congo is a blast. I hope they don't tear it out. I hate to sound like an old-timer, but they just don't build 'em like that anymore. It has more 'theming' than any new ride they put in. Its almost like going back in time on it, but its in great shape, too!
DeLorean Rider Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 ^ are you talking about the Congo Falls ride at Kings Island in Mason Ohio???
MarketingExpress Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 It gave me an idea but ive been hearing this for years years meaning minutes right? Where exactly have you heard this if not from nickroedl.com?
BoddaH1994 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I can see his point... when riding Congo, I feel like I'm back in the '80s.
tubaman Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Wait. If you've been hearing that they are going to tear out Congo for years, wouldn't it have already been done?
WooferBearATL Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Wait. If you've been hearing that they are going to tear out Congo for years, wouldn't it have already been done? No, because I've heard for years that Vortex was being removed. Still there. Will still be there next time I hear it, for certain.
KIfan73 Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Yes, thats the one! ^ are you talking about the Congo Falls ride at Kings Island in Mason Ohio???
TopThrill Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Congo better stay, its a easy way to cool off. Ether riding it or standing up on the bridge.
SOB_TOM Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Think in these terms: KI only has 3 water rides in the hardpark. Two are located on the Southern edge of the park. One, Congo Falls, is located in its busiest area, has a great capacity, and little downtime. So why would you remove it?
italianchef Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I think Congo Falls will be removed sometime in the next 50 years, but no time in the next 5.
jondrewfoo Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 They should relocate it, to the waterpark. heck no! its there so you can cool off without walking all the way over to the waterpark. plus its my favorite ride in that it never closes, and it never has a line. its the only ride where i have never ahd to wait one minute besides for the boat to come up and load us. even on really busy days. plus this ride is a legend, and a ride that everyone enjoys...
TOPGUN1993 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Your the first one I've heard to say Congo Falls is there favorite ride.
hauntguy Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Maybe a replacement... a KI "Perilous Plunge" (Knott's)... that'd be cool. -Hauntguy
Ki Man Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 ^Heck yes, PP looks like an amazing ride....though the new boats SUCK!
jondrewfoo Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 lol i said its my favorie in that it always reliable, i like SOB, and it would be my favorite if it wasnt closeed or running a one train operation all the time. congo falls has never failed me, and is a chance to cool off on a hot summer day (or to dare each other to ride it when its cold, or rainy out). but its not my favorite ride, nor most anyones prolly, but the park wouldnt be the same without it.
jondrewfoo Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 lol i didnt notice any new boats, they are the same ones ive seen since ive been going to the park around 1999. although, i do notice from the pictures from the offseason when congo falls was not operating, the ride is severely rusting. i wonder if they will replace that hill if need be. it looked pretty bad and kinda worries me a little when i ride it now, even though i know nothing will happen, or it wouldnt be operating.
PKIVortex Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Congo Falls needs a new station roof though bad. It looks really bad espailly during the last 2 seasons. Other then that, it's the only ride in the park, you don't have a restraint, you get massive amounts of airtime on that drop. But I would never say never, KD did get rid of Diamond Falls ride, which was the same ride as Congo Falls.
Outdoor Man Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Congo Falls was a classic episode from the 80's where KI did a TERRIBLE job of theming. CF could do some real minor modifications, enclose it and place some "features" in it, al la Jurassic Park. I know that's a REAL stretch, but the ride is nothing more than a cooling station.
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Congo has short lines and few customers. The Timberwolf plays like two shows a year. Yet I don't see why they would take them down. KI still has another 300 achers of land to use! Beast1979
The Interpreter Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 ...much of which is subject to land restrictions, is wetlands, is difficult terrain to build on or is buffer to neighboring uses.

Was not the point of the ride to be overly themed. It fit in perfect with WAH and has always been popular the way it was. I never would have pegged the ride to have been a success. When it was being built I remember thinking that it was a really poor decisions to put it in. In turn, it worked out to be one of the best additions to the park.
The Interpreter Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 ...and the one at Kings Dominion is sadly missed. Nothing is forever. Literally nothing.
Outdoor Man Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 one of the best additions to the park? I don't know if I would go that far.
WooferBearATL Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 one of the best additions to the park? I don't know if I would go that far. As said before.... Dependable, very little labor involved in daily operation and popular. Granted, the ride really does nothing for me, but if it were just about me we'd still have The Bat and SOB would have been abandoned hundred's of thousands of dollars ago.
