Neon
On the brochure, October 28th is listed as the last day of the 2007 KI season. But I heard that the season extends to December. Is that true? And I don't know why KI has to close during the winter. Who lets 15 degree weather stops them from keeping a theme park open? Not me! The Interpreter
Cedar Fair believes in limiting operating days to those considered most profitable. That season extension you refer to was called Winterfest. It was among the very first things that Cedar Fair changed...They did away with it. It is unlikely to come back in the foreseeable future. Tassels
Actually from what I PERSONALLY know Fear Fest is also on the 29,30,31st so the last night TECHNICALLY would be the 31st. (or so I'd think) (rumors ya know) story goes... thats they didnt do winterfest last year because, they wanted a year with out it.. so MAYBE... they're bringing it back perhaps?? but what would I know.. Im just a silly scare actor and THAT is my 2cents
Captain Nemo
The last day of the season is what is posted which is as you said the 28th of October. The reason KI closes is because many of the rides can only operate in warmer temperatures. The only time it was open during December was Winterfest 1982-1992, and in 2005. CoastersRZ
Not to mention that when parks in Ohio request a permit for their rides for the season, they also have to list the last day that the rides will operate for the season. Now several years back, Kings Island used to tack on an added bonus weekend the first weekend in November. But seeing as how Cedar Fair reduced the number of operating days at the beginning of the season, I doubt that they will be extending the season of any of their parks much past the conclusion of October. Besides, after October, they can no longer attract people to the parks for the haunted events.
