Super Saturator at Carowinds To Go Dry

Featured Replies

It is reliably reported by Robert Ulrich, the ACE representative for the region affected, that Carowinds' Super Saturator will run its last wet rides on Labor Day.

After Labor Day it will soak no more, so get in your last rides if you can. The park has only released that Labor Day is the last day for operation. No word on the future of the attraction or the space in the park that will soon go dry.

That is so sad. I was there with some friends from work and my wife in July and it was one of my favorite rides. If they do keep the ride it is very dull without the water. I wonder why?

I am glad that I was able to ride this last month. I heard a rumor that this was going to close. Is this a same ride as Roller Soaker at Hershey?

It is, indeed.

Hersheypark's version is bigger, though.

The current rumor is that Hard Rock Park may be picking the ride up as a replacement for the Slippery When Wet attraction. It was originally supposed to be one of the old Hydra Fighters from a Wet & Wild, however that said attraction is now relisted for sale. Interesting.

IF true, this says more about the financial condition of both parks/companies than anything else possibly could. WHY on earth would Carowinds/Cedar Fair be selling their new competitor rides? And why would the new competitor being buying used rides from a competitor?

I do not have an answer to your question, however I can say that it would be completely pointless for CF to sell individual rides. The rides depreciate like crazy. As stated in another post, the only reason to sell a ride would be because it's cheaper that storaging or disposing of it.

I think that if indeed this is the case and HRP is picking up Saturator from Carowinds.....it just happened to be in good timing. Most reports that I read from Carowinds typically state that Saturator is closed. In my recent visits, its only been operating once. So perhaps this has been coming. As for HRP buying used rides, its certainly interesting. However, as I understand, Slippery When Wet is the only used attraction coming to the Park. With that said, the Park doesn't appear to be opening with all that many attractions in the first place. Disney's California Adventure or Animal Kingdom anyone?

I wonder why they are closing it.

RollerSoaker at Hershey is a decent ride, especially when it is scorching hot out. But it has terrible wait times.

Interactive rides like that are fun for everyone.

I didn't see the ride listed for sale on Intalintl.com. Any proof it's for sale? The ride is alot of fun but it uses alot of water and maybe Carowinds doesn't have enough attendance to support the cost of operating it. I hope it goes to another CF park if it is leaving the park.

If they are removing the water I HIGHLY doubt they will continue to operate it as a dry ride, is it for sure the whole ride is leaving or is that just rumor right now?

The park hasn't said what is to happen to it. It closed Labor Day weekend, and was not operating last weekend.

I have no valid source for this rumor, but I remember reading somewhere that this coaster may wind up at Geauga Lake. Considering it's capacity and GL's attendance numbers, this might be a good fit for them.

I don't see it going to Geauga Lake it uses too much water and the attendance is down at the park. I think Hard Rock Park in South Carolina will buy it from Carowinds.
