Waterpark - So whats changed in the last 10 years?

Featured Replies

I haven't been to the KI waterpark in over 10 years. I think it was my visit in 1996 when I last visited the waterpark, then called "waterworks". I know according to our timeline there was a renovation in 1997 and of course a rennovation and retheming done in 2004. So whats still there, and whats new? What was added/removed in 1997 and what was added/removed in 2004? Just curious.

We were planning on visiting BB while we were there, but since we were staying at the great wolf lodge, we decided why not just stay there at the smaller indoor waterpark.

It's a lot different now.

The racing slides were removed and the Coolangatta Racers were installed. Plus a new funnel-attraction called Tazmania Typhoon was installed on the south end of the waterpark. This was all in 2003 when Water Works was rethemed to an Australian theme: Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay.

In the late 90s they added a body boarding ride and a gigantic wave pool.

Just because we didn't work out Ryan doesn't mean you shouldn't regret it. I mean you have a woman chasing you down right now.

The only slides that have been removed from Boomerang Bay/Waterworks were, as Ryan mentioned, the speed slides. That location is now home to the Coolangatta Racers which were installed back in 2004 when WaterWorks was transformed into Boomerang Bay. The wave pool was added to the water park, along with a children`s splash and play zone back in 1997. The surfing simulator ride was introduced in 1998. Then, of course the most recent addition was 2004 when they added Tasmanian Typhoon and yet another children`s area to the mix.

And, keep in mind that Boomerang Bay is now closed for the season. It will reopen again in 2008, around Memorial Day weekend.

The only slides that have been removed from Boomerang Bay/Waterworks were,

Didn't they remove those Kiddie slides? in the 90's
