neo8820
After a trip to KI on Friday evening the wife and I drove up to Cedar Point today. This was the first time either of us had been to Cedar Point so we didn't know what to expect. It got so busy after dark that we decided to leave. EVERYTHING had a two hour wait even stuff like Wild One, Mantis etc. Unfortunately, I feel like I didn't get everything I wanted to accomplish done. We got one ride on Magnum but weren't able to touch MF, Maverick, TTD or Raptor. It looks like we are going to try and go back tomorrow to catch those 4 rides. We are going to get there around 10 but have to leave at 3 which only leaves us 5 hours. If it was like it is today that will allow us to ride two rides. I have two questions. 1. Do you think tomorrow will be as bad? 2. Which rides in order should we try to ride out of MF, TTD, Maverick and Raptor and why?
ClevelandRocks10
I was there also, HOLY CRAP was there a lot of people! I was there for 5hrs and only got to ride Wicked Twister And Mean Streak! Millennium had a 2hr 1/2 wait while maverick had a 3hr, we just got fed up and left and I can say this is my worst visit to Cedar Point ever And to answer your questions Halloweekends is always crowded so count on it being crowded tomorrow but not nearly as crowded as today and make sure to ride all 4 of those, they are all musts! ClevelandRocks10
but isn’t that Monday, I didn’t think it would affect the park that much guess I was wrong
The Interpreter
Of course it affects park crowds at Cedar Point and other destination parks. It even affects crowds at Kings Island, which is to much less an extent a destination park, but does get quite a few customers who travel far enough to stay overnight. Since many people do not have to work Monday, it makes weekend travel easier without taking a day off. Not to mention that Saturdays during Halloweekends are generally zoos anyway. As has been noted here several times by several people, Friday nights are far better choices.

The Interpreter
By Wild One, I assume you mean Magnum. The Magnum line eats people quickly (like Vortex) so long as they are running three trains. As to what to hit first, I'd hit the ones I want to ride most. For me, that'd be Maverick (I HIGHLY recommend the front seat), Magnum and Raptor. Park in the back, by Magnum. Just enter the far left parking booth and tell them you are parking at the Soak City lot to meet some friends. (Soak City is closed for the season). If you have a Maxx pass, don't forget early entry! Beast1979
So, I've never been to Cedar Point. Are you guys saying that the lines aren't normaly long? I hope not! I want to have a good expirence at CP.
Touchdown
So, I've never been to Cedar Point. Are you guys saying that the lines aren't normaly long? I hope not! I want to have a good expirence at CP. Are you talking about Halloweekends or just a normal summer day? Saturdays in Oct @ CP are borderline insane for crowds. If you are planning on just doing one day and trying to do all the major coasters, or all the haunts, forget about you cant. However Fri (limited rides, all the haunts) and Sun (limited haunts, all the rides) are usually quite dead (this Sunday excluded because of the holiday) so if you turned it into a two day trip I would say you have no problem. The key is to get there early, and if you are going to do the haunts make sure you are pre queue before they open (3) for one of them, I would suggest Vampire or Pharaoh's since the two are right next to each other (and you can easily do both back to back in <1 hour) before they (quickly) reach their 2 hour wait they will have the rest of the day. If you plan on doing Werewolf, you need to pre queue an hour before or else face a 2 hour wait. As for the coasters, heres what you can expect mid afternoon on them (anytime CP is at normal attendance numbers, so yesterday these lines were longer): Maverick: 105 min MF: 105-120 min TTD: 105-120 min Raptor: 90-105 min Magnum: 15-30 min Gemini: 15-30 min Disaster Transport: 60-90 min Maxair: 15-45 min Skyhawk: 15-45 min
PKIVortex
Anyone think KI was overly busy today, with the warm weather? I was going to go, but obviously that didn't happen, and with the park closing in 4 hours what's the point now.
Cory Butcher
The park was empty today, everyone I talked to said that Firehawk even had a line no longer than 10 minutes all day. I was at Racer/Monster and we never had even a minute wait.
Browntggrr
but isn’t that Monday, I didn’t think it would affect the park that much guess I was wrong Schools are closed on Monday. Columbus Day is not exactly known for picnics like Memorial Day or 4th of July. And the weather was July/ August like. Now combine that with a unique event that only happens for a total of 21 days out of the year. And of those 21 days there are only 8 days where you can experinence all the rides, and all the haunts in the same day. Yeah, the park is going to be crushed. tycoonrebel7188
This doesn't have much to do with the topic at hand, but it is about Cedar Point. I was reading the new On-Point Blog and scrolled to the header of the page and noticed that Skyhawk had four swing arms. lol
markr
While Cedar Point does tend to get crowded I think a lot of you are over estimating the line waits. Let me give you some examples. I keep hearing about 2 hour waits for Raptor. However, I have timed Raptor with all the queues filled at 1 1/4 hours. As for Maverick, I have timed it at 1 1/4 hours from the entrance with all the queues filled. I have timed Dragster from the second to last set of queues at 1 1/4 hours wait for the front seat. The only ride that that tends to approach 2 hour waits from my experience is M Force. I think that is because while they run three trains only one train can be in circuit at a time. In short, I wouldn't let the crowds at CP scare you. While the lines may be long, CP is excellant at keeping the lines moving. I strongly recommend to eveyone that they make a whole weekend of it so they can enjoy everything in the park without rushing and worrying about long lines. Browntggrr
^ While I am not questioning your time keeping abilities, I do question the staffing for the rides. In the middle of July/ August any park is going to have their best staff on the ride platform. But come this time of year, when staffing can be difficult to come by at a park like CP, I question how fast they can get a full train out. Chances are you are not going to have the same crew on a Sunday in October that you have on a Sunday at the beginning of August.
Touchdown
Markr, Im going to have to disagree with you on the full Maverick queue time. When the thing is full, its 1 hour 45 min, not 1 hour 15 min. Ive been on it multiple times this year and this has consistently been the case. The Interpreter
...assuming, of course, the ride remains up and open the entire time you are in line. A thing that is all too often not the case. Probably an INTAMIN thing more than a park thing, but to the average guest, it doesn't matter. For whatever reason, "We are experiencing a temporary delay, we do not expect it to be a long delay..." BINGO! As long as the ride remains in operation, a FULL queue on Maverick is around 1 hour and 15 minutes. I've been to the Park probably 18 times this season and this has always been the case. As for Browntggrr's comment about staffing. True you don't have the same staff this time of year, but Cedar Point usually continues to provide the same capacity that they do in the summer time. I don't see a huge difference between the two seasons, unlike at KI. - Todd, who has happily waited an hour + many times this season for Maverick
Beast1979
Again and again, I am envied by Maverick. And every other coaster at CP!

The Interpreter
Again and again, I am envied by Maverick. And every other coaster at CP! Maverick is jealous of you? Why?
Browntggrr
Quite honestly, I think having more than one kids area is a good idea. Only because, most parks today have the parent swap/ child swap program. Now if I am waiting in line, my wife can let the kids go on their size rides until I am ready to ride my size ride. But if all the kids' rides are in one specific area, and the ride that my wife and I want to enjoy is on the opposite side of the park, we cannot enjoy the best of both worlds. Keeping the kids busy and not bored is one of my top goals when we go to any park.
