SFOG Deja Vu

Featured Replies

Deja Vu is now down mechanical for the rest of the season at SFOG.

As it has already been announced it is being removed this winter, it has run for its last time in the park. What is to become of the similar rides at Magic Mountain and Six Flags Great America has not been announced.

Wow, I now feel privelegd to have ridden this coaster during my last visit to the park. I must say, it was a very fun ride, and something like I had never experienced. It was like mixing Face/Off and Tower of Terror at disney.

It's a shame the ride came to an end like this, because I really liked it.

I loved Deja' Vu. Everytime i go to SFOG i hope that it'll be open. And out of all the times ive been there it's only been open once.. and the wait was like 2 hours. I have to say that it was worth the wait!

How much better is this compared to Face/Off? I have never been able to ride one but I hear the seating on those are really screwd up.

First of all, Deja' Vu is faster, taller, longer, more exciting, smoother, and just better! If Deja' Vu was to stay at SFOG they could make a Face/Off repica by it and call it Deja' Vu Jr.

I'm not a big fan of the back and forth coasters (like Deja Vu or Face Off) but can tell you that I much prefer Face Off.

Deja Vu had an operating schedule that makes Son of Beast look reliable.

You could pretty much guarantee if it was open at the start of the day that it would not be by closing time.

Always sad to see a ride leave, but this one will not be a huge loss for the park.

I rode Deja Vu at Great America, lets just say I was not impressed. It rattled me around pretty good, I much prefer Face/Off, even though the 90 degree spikes were cool.

You're right, the Vu's have been a maintenance & engineering nightmare from the beginning & aside from a few problems that pale in comparison(cough Two face getting stuck repeatedly cough) the Invertigo has proven to be a much more reliable design....not to mention thrilling.

In all the years I've ridden Two face since it's debut I still havn't ridden facing backwards in the station yet.I prefer the front seat, right side instead myself.

Is it going any where? Or is it going to be trashed? :(

My guess would be trashed.

I really like it. We just by chance decided to get of Ninja, after a triple ride of not changing seats, and walked passed to find Deja Vu had just opened. So, we only waited 45 minutes at the most, and then lucked out enough to get the front row. It was quite an experience, and I enjoyed it.

I have to say that I prefer Deja Vu to Face Off any day. On the other hand, during my three multi-day visits in three different years to Magic Mountain, Deja Vu was open half of one of the days in one of the three years. Besides the extreme downtime and horrendous capacity, it really is quite a fun ride!

And the fact that they are not very reliable is the reason they will start to disappear. Sounds like to me Six Flags is tired of pouring money into rides that are not working.

Will Cedar Fair will do this to SOB one day?

Problem is that Deja Vu is not in the best place.

Not certain what else could go in such a small area.

I thought I remembered reading in the SFoG press release that the new Thomas Town is going to be going in the spot now occupied by Deja Vu?

With that said, I happen to like the ride. The one in Georgia has always been closed on all my visits, but I did ride the one at Great America. I didn't find it rough at all. Totally loved the vertical spikes.

For some reason the Invertigo & the Vu's seem to be much smoother than the SLC's,it's probably due to a change in the wheel design though. Now their flyers on the otherhand are a bit on the jerky side however...Batwing rattles around so much I'm suprised that the trains don't fall apart mid ride.

Sounds like shotty maintenance to me...

Shotty matinence, sounds like the work of: The Chiller. ;)

Uh, that park does excellent maintenance, but you cannot keep up that which is defective or at the very least not very well designed from the get go. See HUSS Giant Frisbees, HUSS Giant Top Spins, etc. See also the major structural reinforcements done on Wicked Twister, the Messrs Freeze, etc.
