Is Kentucky Kingdom a good place to visit?

Featured Replies

I haven't been there since before six flags and can't remember it well even from then, I was thinking about going next year, if nothing else to ride the dutchman :) what does everyone think of this park? is it worth going?

It's an okay park..

Okay rides... but if SPOT is open do not ride it.. you'll come back with no legs!

Superman: Tower of Power is closed, and may forever be so. If it does reopen, you can be assured that both the park and the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be as certain as humanly possible that it is safe.

Also, S:TOP formerly known as Hellevator had given literally hundreds of thousands of safe rides prior to the incident. The incident was most unfortunate, but it is very unfair to say that anyone who rides it in the future will come back with no legs. Do you also think anyone who rides Son of Beast will come back with a broken sternum?

Decent park. I like it. Chang is awesome, and the sisters are fantastic. Never really seen a "huge" crowd there. Quite a bit of walking (especially to get to the "main park") you have to go over a bridge that goes over the highway. But all in all worth a trip.

Todd

...and the 'sisters' are now known as Twisted Twins....

Thunder Run is an excellent wooden roller coaster, though it runs only one train...a PTC by the way.

Thanks Interpreter. It's been about 5 years since I was there. They still have T2 (inverted coaster)?

If you like ghetto carnivals! and don't waste your time at St.Louis either I don't know how that park made it 45 years? I'd like to smack the owner 45 times:)

Yep, T2 is still there. When I was a heftier person, I loved it. Nowadays, I, too, shuffle forward and backwards in the seats....It's different, that's for sure...

Yet another inappropriate comment about a tragic situation...sigh. Also, it's STOP not SPOT.

I have mixed feelings about SFKK. It's my home park so I tend to like it. Is it as good as KI? No. Is it worth the trip? From Cincy I'd say yes.

The park has really cleaned itself up over the past few years. The staff is friendlier, rides are freshly painted. Also, they spent a huge amount of capital during the 06/07 off season on the water park. In addition to new chairs, cabanas, a new kids area and fresh paint on everything they added Deluge which is very neat.

I do find the park to be a bit lacking in the coaster department.

Sure they have...

Chang which in my opinion is better than Mantis

Thunder Run one of the better wooden coaster I've been on

Greezed Lightnin' a really cool classic shuttle coaster

but other than that nothing special. T2 is a prototype Hang n' Bang so it "bangs" more than others and the Twins or Sisters or whatever they call them are boring as hell.

They have some decent flats. Breakdance is insane! Of course there is the dutchman too.

oh i wouldn't expect it to be as good as ki, I'll probably go next year, all I remember was a lot of walking. Thanks for the input

Most of the above comments are true. The park has an absolutely terrible layout which consists of a lot of bottlenecks and even more walking. They have a few good rides. I really like Grease Lightnin'. Can't say I care all that much for Chang. I also can't stand T2. It beats me up.

In their defense, there are a lot of outside factors as to why they have layout issues, but I'm not going to get into that. It's worth a visit once a year, I'd say.
