momtojoshcanpark
Does anyone know if guests with mobility difficulties have any alternatives to standing in line?
The Interpreter
While we wait to see what the Cedar Fair answer is this year, you may find this interesting as to Six Flags: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...flags++disabled
italianchef
I COULD be wrong. But I think the physically challenged can go to the front of the line if they have some type of certification or proof. Please call the park at 800-288-0808 to inquire.
bparrott03
Go to guest relations as soon as you get to the park, or call ahead. They will work with you to assist you with the Attractions Boarding Pass.. You will need this to use the special entrances to rides for people with disibilities (if the wait time allows for such). The rules/accomodations have changed a bit since last year.
momtojoshcanpark
Thanks, my first day last year was bad, second day was horrible and just wasn't as much fun. This year, I will probably be buying a motorized wheel chair and have my kids ride in it until I can walk no more. I have been told that at Disney the whole family goes ahead, I forgot to ask if anyone knows about this here. I don't want to have to wait in another line just to wait for them to get to the same place in line I would be. To me that is not a vacation And I also don't want to bring along a little chair as people will look at me strange for toting around a chair and sitting in line. Touchdown
While KI may not have released their policy for this year, CP has and heres the link: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...cial_access.cfm Basically, you go get a booklet, when you want to ride a ride you take it to the Ride Op at the front of the line, they look at the wait and assign you a time to return, while you wait you are free to roam the park and when its your time, you and one other person can use the special access entrance and ride the ride immediately, everyone else in your party must wait in the normal line. This may or may not be the policy this year at KI, but since CP is a sister park it has a high likelihood of being the same.
King Maple The Tree King
While KI may not have released their policy for this year, CP has and heres the link: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...cial_access.cfm Basically, you go get a booklet, when you want to ride a ride you take it to the Ride Op at the front of the line, they look at the wait and assign you a time to return, while you wait you are free to roam the park and when its your time, you and one other person can use the special access entrance and ride the ride immediately, everyone else in your party must wait in the normal line. This may or may not be the policy this year at KI, but since CP is a sister park it has a high likelihood of being the same. From what I hear, KI will fall directly in line with the CP policy. As opposed to KI's the past few years where the pass was good the holder of the booklet and three guests. It will be interesting to see if KI broadcasts this change and gets the message out to its guests or if they just assume everyone will make themselves aware of it like they did with Halloween Haunt. Now the disability police is not even off Limits.
momtojoshcanpark
well shoot that won't work. I wish they made it like fast pass and give you a time to ride and your whole family rides at that time. Splitting up the family, like I said is no vacation, it would be like being divorced and taking kids to the park Which justs really makes absolutely no sense in my opinion. Gordon Bombay
Well the whole family can still ride, lets say there are 6 people in your party. Four wait in line, contact you and your partner when they are nearly getting on. You go up the exit, let the ride operator know, and I'm sure the operators will take care of you. Keep in mind folks, while King Maple pointed out CP's system, KI has yet to announce any changed to their policy.
momtojoshcanpark
It is myself, husband and 3 kids. Can't leave the kids in line alone, and it just would not be the same me waiting with a child and he waiting with the other 2. That is alot of my problem at places, they can walk fast and I can't, so since you can't save a spot in line, they have to get behind dozens of people to meet with me. Then when walking the long walks, people ALWAYS cut in front of us, and I HATE that. That makes me walk faster and puts me in greater pain and plus it is just rude. I am talking about rides like Top Gun, the White Water Canyon, etc. I may talk to to the guest services people and see if they will just allow me to cut line since people always cut in front of me, though I am in line, I slow down everyone else behind me and I feel I should not have to take a back seat because I cannot keep up. Or even to have the 2 oldest go in the regular line and allow myself, husband and youngest to enter on another side, but some of the best memories come from standing together, not apart. I already feel like a 5th wheel, that will really make me feel like an outsider.
Gordon Bombay
Like I said, that policy has not been confirmed or announced at the park yet, thats just the way it is at a sister park. We'll have to wait and see.

Well if some of your best memories come from standing in line together, then jumping in front of people that are in line really would not work either. But unless you go on a holiday, special event, or the weekend, the time apart while your family is in line and you are waiting at the exit should not be that long. Touchdown
Another thing I would suggest for you is perhaps looking into getting a specialized walker that for all intensive purposes is a bench on wheels. Most lines dont have stairs at KI and it should be light enough that your husband can lift up stairs and over coasters (heres a link http://www.valuemedicalsupplies.com/night.htm that way people wont look at you for carrying a seat around (at least I hope not, its a walker) and as a bonus will help you walk better. bparrott03
This year only the person with the pass, and one.. I did say one, other person can join along.. Still, you will want to contact guest relations, as they will tell you about the policy.. If the wait is more than 30 minutes, you'll have to get the attractions boarding passed (that you got from guest relations) signed by the ride opperator (either at the greeter booth, or in the station).. Still kinda confused on this part, but I *think* there is also a line pass that you can have your party wait in line, and then you get your boarding pass signed, and then the times should work out to where you can ride together.. I'm unsure about that part, but I do know that the Boarding pass is for the person who it was issued to, plus ONE other. Like I also said, be sure to call guest relations before your trip.. They can explain it and help you out more than anyone. Hope you have a great time at the park this year! Can't wait to ride some rides again! cholderfield
Like I also said, be sure to call guest relations before your trip.. They can explain it and help you out more than anyone. that's in theory...from experiences i've had with guest relations at KI and CP, one person will tell you one thing while another tells you something else...i'm not very confident in CF's communication one bit - all bets are off ! The Interpreter
And then your experience will differ from ride to ride on the same day and from park to park in the chain. Uniformity of operations is not a Cedar Fair strongpoint...at least not yet. Is it just me, or is that explanation of what appears to the the line procedure for persons with a disability this year about the most convoluted, complex and perhaps frustrating thing you ever heard?
