FOFirehawkFAN Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 OMG Im so excited I was just talking with my old cross country friend the other day about how awesome a 5K at Cedar Point or Kings Island would be! Im sooo there! Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Yeah, I wonder if it'll be strictly through the park or on back-roads or what. Hopefully they keep us out of the parking lot as much as possible. Quote
Beast1979 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I believe last year they took the mantinence roads sometimes, And they would section of midways in other areas. I remember that when they posted the Route I was so ****ed when I knew I couldn't go. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 That's cool. I didn't know they had one of these last year. Quote
MarketingExpress Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 That hill by The Beast is a pain to walk up Quote
hausty1983 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I'm a very competitive runner and I have been running since I was in 6th grade and still run a lot. I usually do a lot of 5k races around the city or do the Thanksgiving Race downtown every year and run in the 10K race. I think this is a great event to come up with! I know last year I did the Race for the Cure and had a blast. The courses would be awesome for the 10K and 5K races around the park and I know they could use some terrain on the roads back by The Beast definately or anywhere else around the park. I'm so anxious to see what type of course it will be. I signed up for more information in my hotmail. Any of you guys going to run in this??? Quote
Purplehaze Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I will be at home cheering you all on while smoking a huge cigar! Quote
Avatar Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I wonder how much? I actually think I will do it, i have lost 50lbs and only got 25 more to go and have just bought a treadmill. This Run could be the motivation to help get me through. So who else is in? Quote
Purplehaze Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 The last 10k race I ran was in 1982 I believe I came in third in the Ohio River Road Race Club event. That was a long time ago... Quote

Was the Downtown Thanksgiving race you run the Turkey Trott in Miamisburg? I used to run that every once in a while. Cold race usually. I'm going to try to make it. I used to jog 5 miles a day until I got this stupid desk job. I've been looking for a real goal to get me going. I doubt I'll try for the 10K, but I'm sure I can be in 5K shape by then. Quote
Cory Butcher Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I may actually run this...I need to get in shape for some football tryout things in the Fall. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 And while your down there Cory you can get yourself a couple burgers. Quote
Avatar Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Maybe KICentral could sponsor a group of runners. Quote
Dane Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Only if you get a henna tattoo across your back. Quote
Cory Butcher Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 And while your down there Cory you can get yourself a couple burgers. Um, no, I'm not talking about doing the Turkey Trott, Im thinking about doing the KI run. Besides I am not paying .95 dollars for a hamburger the size of my dress/casual belt buckle Quote
Avatar Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Only if you get a henna tattoo across your back. Actually I was hoping for a t-shirt with one of your cool custom designs. I clicked the link and another link popped up and offered to send me more information as it comes available and asked some general questions. Many of the Disney fan boards has a section/forum that runners for running in any of the many Disney marathons have a place to talk about the event, meet-up locations, training techniques ect. Well this got me thinking that maybe KICentral could offer KI that they could host such a forum and they could pass a link to KICentral’s board when they send out information to prospective runners. This may be a way to boost new membership to KICentral. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Ah man, hamburger wagon has the best burgers. They're small, but they're great. Quote
branvan Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I'm going to try to make it. I used to jog 5 miles a day until I got this stupid desk job. I've been looking for a real goal to get me going. I doubt I'll try for the 10K, but I'm sure I can be in 5K shape by then. A 5k run is actually 5 kilometres, which is about 3 miles, so I'm sure you'd be fine! I'm definitely in too, by the way. Quote
SonofBeast07 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 nothing like hamburgers fried in lard! mmmm! i think i'll get a bunch when i'm up there this weekend Quote
