King Cobra Returns?

Well compare Vampire to Greased Lightning... Kind of the same idea but much lamer. Vampire wasn't all that great but why replace it with an 30 year old coaster thats much less intense?

I like the boomarang in fact faceoff/Invertigo is nearly the same coaster except inverted, and honestly its pretty much a must-ride ride when I go to KI. First time I went to Kentucky Kingdom I rode Vampire 3 times! It was really cool back then because I had never been on a coaster like that before

As much as I like Vekoma hang and bangs and cookie cutter coasters, I will pass on Invertigo and Vampire. I have blacked out on both.

As for Greased Lightning, I consider it a much better ride than the Vekoma Vertigos. There is more of a hang time in the loop on greased lightning, and much less blacking out.

I think I can explain the blackout comment. Nearly every time I ride it I get very light headed and my vision tunnels. I've never been too close to actually blacking out, but I've been on my way there.

I think it's got to do with how quickly you hit the consecutive inversions and the fact that blood is rushing away from the head due to the high vertical g's. It usually starts happening to me after going through the vertical loop the second time. I'm guessing SOB TOM has actually blacked out as opposed to my nearly blacking out.

yeah I can't say I had any issues with that. Then again I'm a pretty big trooper when it comes to coasters. In 2005 when we went in october everything was a walk on. We rode Vortex 3 times, FoF 3 times, The Beast 2 times, face off, Racer, Top Gun, and Adventure Express 1 time, and tomb raider the ride, all within a 5 hour span. I wanted to just keep going and riding the rides (SOB was closed for some reason), but my friends were all dizzy, and sick since there was no ride que on anything, so we ended up leaving. I dunno, I've never experienced any sickness type feelings on a coaster, I can literally go forever on them.

A "black out" is when the blood is pushed to your lower extremities, causing "tunnel vision" all the way to not being able to see at all.

And yes, I have lost my vision, AKA "black out" on Invertigo. It was not an experience I wish to repeat.

I sometimes "Blackout" on Chang and Invertigo. Could this also be caused by a lack of water or just tiredness because before I "Blackout" on some rides I don't feel that well and pretty tired you know the end of the day thing.lol

I can safely say "Knock On Wood" i have never blacked out on a ride. I have came close on Firehawk and Invertigo. Is it true that if Firehawk's loop was the other way around there is no way your body could withstand the G's.

I almost blackout on Invertigo every time I've ridden it. It's on the return trip when you go through the boomerang, facing forwards and backwards.

Same thing with the helix on BLSC.

I hate to say it, but I think it's pretty awesome lol

ok another crappy ass rumor... where do you people get these at. King Cobra was removed from the park because it was to much money to maintain. Paramount made the decision to remove it for the same reason that Cedar Fair is starting to comtemplate removing Firehawk... IT BREAKS DOWN AT LEAST ONCE A DAY AND AFTER ALL THE MAITENECE COSTS... THEY ARE LOOSING TO MUCH MONEY.

I "blackout" every weekend, after a large beerfront moves through the region.

That same front has moved through my area as well :D

a. You aren't a mod and don't get to decide when discussion ends...

b. Shockwave at Kings Dominion is a very poor rendition of what was King Cobra at Kings Island...Skyrider at Canada's Wonderland comes far closer...

it's rusted and crumbling, in no condition to run.

Exactly, because it's not there anymore. Had you read the whole thread...post three...

It was carted off some time at the end of the 2006 season

If it was carted away, then why is there track out by The Beast and the cars inside the FOF building?

Any truth to the rumor that King Cobra is coming back (in one form or another) sometime in the next couple of years? I heard this not too long ago and wondered if any of you had heard the same, and if so, what?

I miss this ride, and hope it does come out of retirement (with a few modern improvements, of course).

Your thoughts?

Yes, it is now called the Rivertown Project 2009, at least the name will be returning come this Wednesday after the announcement for the new coaster. Either the Return of Cobra or Raptor's Revenge!
