BoddaH1994
Kings Island officially debuted County Line this weekend. I'm not the biggest country fan on earth (so NO Kentucky jokes in this thread, please! ) but I still really enjoyed the enjoyed the theatrical elements, overall performance, and incredible singing of the show. It's definitely a welcome change to the uh.... nothing... that it's had the past few years. Country fan or not, I certainly encourage you to check it out. UnrealNightmare
Loved it! and I'm not partial to country music either.
BavarianBeatle
I voted for ok because the girl in the white shirt stole the show!!! She could just flat out sing!!!! After hearing her, the rest of the performers, although they tried hard and did their best, just simply were not as good. I'm a country (and music in general) fan and that girl was better than a lot of performers I've paid to see. Not to disrespect the rest of the performers in the show, but after hearing her, the rest of the show was kind of disappointing..... And the acoustics in the Festhaus are awful....... Don't quote me on this, but I think the acoustics thing you mentioned was intentional. The building was designed with live shows in mind, so I don't think it was just overall bad. I did also notice that the sound is quite a bit lower for this show, though. I would attribute this to the fact that they want people to be able to both watch the show and hold a conversation if they choose.
LongLiveTheSmurfRide
Did the place fill up when the show started? Like were people coming in just to see the show and not eat? I love the fact that you'll be able to go to the Festhaus for some good food and a good show. That really was lacking ever since they installed the big screens. Even a mediocre show is better than nothing when you think about something free to enjoy while eating.
The Interpreter
It appeared to me that when I stopped by to scope out the food, most of the guests were merely watching the show, and not eating. The Fest Haus was so packed with show watchers, I ended up at Outer Hanks. Glad I did, too. The food was far superior (and less expensive) compared to Fest Haus. I wonder what Cedar Fair will do if food revenue in Fest Haus drops precipitously.....I also wonder if the Panda Express owner will be amused should sales drop due to lack of seating for its patrons. KIfan73
Wow, I can't believe all the people that post on here all the time were at KI yesterday, and I didn't know how to look for anybody. I went in to see the first (1:00) show. I was impressed. Its nice to have something like that going on in there. I noticed they took all the televisions out. I also noticed all of the CF "brass" in attendance of the first show.
raptor
I'm not going to watch it, I can't stand country, especially if it's modern country which I'm guessing it is, now rockabilly I can dig that. Hmmm if I had to pick between watching 80's music and Country I don't know how I would pick.
HuktAwnFoniks
Ever since I started frequenting Festaus for lunch during a day at KI (6 years or so) I've always wanted there to be a show instead of the awful and obnoxious music videos. I'm glad they did that this year. I look forward to checking it out next month.

So, it was hard to tell how many people were there for the show and how many were just trying to stay dry and how many were there for a combination of both. Jamesv7
Me and the family went at 3 and it was great. My youngest daughter is madly in love with Josh so I am shore we will be seeing it allot.
Avatar
We went in to watch the show but as soon as we sat down my wife said “That pizza smells good I am going to go grab a slice” Now I am not a country music lover either but I do enjoy live shows of all kinds. I did enjoy the performance and really look forward to having more meals while being entertained there. After the show the performers came out and mingled with the crowd, I did speak to Josh (I think that’s his name) the one with the short blond hair and he said he was there to help fill in for another performer for a few weeks and he only had a couple weeks to learn his parts. I think that he did excellent since he admitted that County has not been in his past performances. I have seen him in other shows and think he is a very versatile performer. My family enjoyed the show very well and would like to share with you a 53 second clip of the show, Enjoy!!!!

Jasper
I think it was a great show. I am a big fan of country music so of course i loved the music and i did catch myself singing along while i was eating at some points. It is good to have entertainment while you are eating just like at BGE's Festhaus.
BoddaH1994
This is the same guy right? Yep -- that's him. He also played Wendel in Santa's Toy Factory. Josh will only be performing in County Line for the first few weeks that its open until the official cast member is freed up. However one should not fret, Mr Hobbs will be back in Hot Island Rhythms. miss jasmine
I went to the park on Sunday...had a great time! The lines were much shorter than I expected and the show I thought was really good. I think trying to mix country music with strong moments of dance has to be difficult as it is. The show could have easily not worked. However, I thought all the performers were decent. There wasn't one that stuck out as being terrible. I thought the dancing was tasteful and up to par and the singing was decent to good depending on the singer. Loved the set too. Though I enjoy country, I wouldn't say I was a fan, but I thought the show had something for everyone. I recommend seeing it. I encourage those who aren't country fans to keep an open mind and give the performers as well as the show to chance....and if you aren't going to keep an open mind...don't vote. Kawana
I remember back in the day when the Festhaus had ice in it for an ice show. Don't remember the specifics though, I just remember it had ice. It's interesting how easy it seems for KI to just move an ice surface around. I also remember the magic show in the KI Theater. Man I've seen a few shows at KI. italianchef
I think that Country Line is a great show, but I also think that it is out of place. When I saw it, I thought to myself, "Okay I am in a restaurant named Festhaus in a place called Oktoberfest. To my left I see Italian LaRosa's, to the center I see a Country music show from the southern USA, and to the right I see a Chinese restaurant, Panda Express. I think that LaRosa's And Panda Express should be on International Street and Country Line should be in Rivertown. As for Festhaus.......WHERE IS THE GERMAN IN FESTHAUS????? I should see brats, metts, potato pancakes, German beer, a German band, and sexy full-figured women in Oktoberfest outfits. Somebody telegraph Busch Parks and tell them what an incredible mistake they are making in their parks..... And it actually was not a failure. The top grossers at one time were: 1) Columbia Palace 2) Festhaus 3) Bier Gardens 4) Rivertown Potato Works 5) Burger Bistro on any given day, these would change places and move up & down the list. Funny story about this is that the food selection that was a horrible failure has been anytime that Mexican Food appeared in the park. Festhaus had a Mexican line and it did no business. Cafe Mexicana did very little business. Tecumseh Taco did not do very well.

It was simply changed by people who have no respect for Cincinnati's German heritage. If German food is a "failboat", tell that to Hofbrahaus in nearby Newport, KY, Busch Gardens, the German Pavilion at Disney World, etc.
RingMaster
Festhaus did sell German food when it first opened. I doubt we'll see Cedar Fair ride that failboat. Right, because thin, cold, over-priced greasy pizzas are somehow better than hot, thick, juicy (in a non-greasy way) over-priced bratwursts. AZ Kinda Guy
And to touch on the Busch parks that Terp brought up... The best park food I've ever had was at Busch Gardens in Virginia. I particularly LOVED their GERMAN potato salad in their Festhaus. Better than anything KI has ever offered.

As before you were born, Kings Island had wonderful, scrumptious, delightful, savory food and not just in the Fest Haus. And the foodstands were far busier than they ever are now. I am sure that Cedar Fair would love to see the per caps that Taft got back then, in 2008 inflation adjusted dollars of course. You see, back then, food items served in the park were almost without exception cooked from scratch in the park. Far more so than now. Almost everything was made and created either in the individual stands/food operations or in the commissary & Bakery. LOL, but we know the value that the previous owner put on the Bakery. <G> Very little to be found in the park was prepackaged food.
BoddaH1994
Somebody telegraph Busch Parks and tell them what an incredible mistake they are making in their parks..... Someone telegraph Terpy and tell him that what works in Busch parks doesn't necessarily work at Kings Island. Amen to that! People are so anxious to say that German food failed, when it didn't. It was simply changed by people who have no respect for Cincinnati's German heritage. If German food is a "failboat", tell that to Hofbrahaus in nearby Newport, KY, Busch Gardens, the German Pavilion at Disney World, etc. You know, the Hussler store sells adult DVDs and they don't sell them at Kings Island. Does this mean that Kings Island is loosing big money by not selling those products too? Probably not. If you read my post, you would see that when I was talking about the "failboat" I was specifically talking about German food in the Festhaus at Kings Island. I wasn't talking about a restaurant in Newport, a Busch Gardens or Disney park, a random hotdog stand on a street corner in Brooklyn, etc. The food went away and was replaced, and as far as public knowedge is concerned, no one has ever tried to bring German food back to the Festhaus. Therefore there is SOME good reason for that. Maybe the operating costs were too high... maybe German food sales dipped after the first couple of years... maybe they couldn't make it fast enough to meet the demand. We simply don't know. The fact of the matter is, it clearly didn't work.
