deerhunter
New name...same story. Is this ride ever open?? Whats the point ..get rid of this thing. It really was never that good of a ride anyways..and I really think geting rid of Kentons Keelboats was a bonehead move. On a lighter note...while putting my jacket in a locker...I overheard a group of young teens offer the ride Ops money to go ahead and let them ride it. I asked them if they were morons...if the thing is malfunctioning...and is shut down...why in God's name would you want to get on it? PKIVortex
Yeah I feel the same way. My guess is they are still working out the bugs. Hopefully they will get it up and running well before full season. I really wanted to ride it today, but it was CLOSED!
beastrider97
I've gone the 20th, 27th, and the 4th. The 20th it was closed. 27th I couldn't ride because my wife wanted to get out of the park early. The 4th it was closed. I think they really need to work out the bugs so this ride isn't closed almost the whole year.
The Interpreter
I can assure you the park wants that ride open even more than the guests do. I predict that they will either get it running reliably or it will have a limited future.

UncleHenry
I haven't seen it closed since opening weekend.
masonguy21
I don't think that it's neccasarily technical bugs, but I think they don't open it because it's still a work in progress. When I went on the 2nd it was closed until it started to rain and the roller coasters started to close down. Probably the only reason that they opened it was to get some people to stay in the park. And when I rode it nothing mechanicly seemed wrong, but the themeing was lacking and if I were CF I would be slightly embaressed by it, which is why I think it is closed so often, but I'm sure technical failures are part of the reason too. Gordon Bombay
I hardly doubt they temporarily shut it down because they were "embarassed." If that were the case, why would they even open it up in the first place. Also, the goal is to have the ride working as often as possible, I'm sure it was just coincidence that it resumed operation just as the roller coasters were temporarily cycling off for weather. tycoonrebel7188
Gordon is right. It was just a coincidence that Crypt opened when rides started to close due to rain. Seeing as it was a Friday morning and people are still in school there simply were not enough ride ops to run every single ride. The park is always short staffed on fridays during preseason. deerhunter
It was shut down quite a bit when it was Tomb Raider..so I think this has nothing to do with the themeing changes...I just think it's a highly technical piece of machinery...that has problems from time to time. I never thought it was that great of a ride anyways. Get rid of it.
DeLorean Rider
I worked that ride for 2 years and its always the same story (as with every ride). Every time that or any ride goes down, people take it personally. As though the park is deliberately doing it to spite them.

The door that is in the pre-show area does not always close because it jams up. So you can't always blame the ride.

Cortney
What is this ride anyways?
CoastersRZ
The ride is a Giant Top Spin made by HUSS. This company also made Delirium and Shake, Rattle and Roll at Kings Island. The Crypt/TRTR was the only Giant Top Spin ever built. It originally opened with 77 seats. But for the last several years, they have not loaded several of the seats. In fact, last year, they removed some of the seats on the end altogether. For this season, in addition to the new ride program, they removed the entire front row of seats. Instead of the original 77 person capacity per ride cycle, I believe it is now down to about 47 people per ride cycle. California`s Great America got a standard HUSS Top Spin this year with Firefall, a relocated ride from Geauga Lake.
TH13TEEN
How many people does a top spin hold?
Mr. Christopher
Original: 40 Topspin 2 (Smaller footprint): 28 Suspended Topspin (Floorless, double sided): 38 Giant: 56 (New specs)

CoastersRZ
But, Kings Island`s Giant Top Spin does not hold 56 riders, despite what HUSS`s specs on their website says.
Mr. Christopher
Maybe it's a new design.
