June 15, 200818 yr 2 hrs!! so not worth it (to me at least) I would rather ride The Racer 24 times I one time waited 5 hours for Firehawk on opening day. So not worth it!
June 15, 200818 yr The Racers is a great ride. It's "The Racer." Be aware there are many at the park who find "The Racers" to be annoying...just as there are many of us older folk who find "The Son of Beast" to be annoying.
June 16, 200818 yr Author ya i may not be a older folk but when people say the Son of Beast i get angry too beacuse if i recall the sign says Son of Beast not The Son of Beast
June 16, 200818 yr And yet Jeff Seibert's own ride announcement in the station called it "The Son of Beast." Go figure.
June 16, 200818 yr I noticed guests were grumpier than usual-however who can blame them. The heat and those darn cicadas!!! I saw this little kid in a stroller who was holding two of them watching them flap. Another kid had a handful.
June 17, 200818 yr The Racers is a great ride. It's "The Racer." Be aware there are many at the park who find "The Racers" to be annoying...just as there are many of us older folk who find "The Son of Beast" to be annoying. It's not just older folk, I hate when people say The Son of Beast The T-- Flight Deck The Drop Tower The Firehawk I could go on...
June 17, 200818 yr I agree that the park gets annoyed when people refer to The Racer as "The Racers". I've actually gotten emails from park officials asking me to remind the KIC community that there is not ride at Kings Island called "The Racers". I think "The Drop Tower" has a better ring to it than just Drop Tower.
June 17, 200818 yr I find the butchering of ride names only mildly annoying. My main pet peeve is when people refer to "switchbacks" as "turnstiles"......
June 17, 200818 yr WOW Just WOW! I'd say it's a bit anal to get upset about such thing. Boddah, which park officials sent you the email? So if you call The Racer "The Racers" does someone at the park not know what the person is talking about? If someone says "The Son of Beast" do we think there is an entirely new ride? I'd say just be happy that people are talking about the rides as opposed to not.
June 17, 200818 yr At least when they are talking about The Racers, they are not talking about how many more nickels it now takes to eat in the park!
June 17, 200818 yr God who cares if they say, "Racer" or "The Racers". We all know what they're talking about, so let's not get into a footer-footing argument . . . .
June 17, 200818 yr As BoddaH has noted, there are those at the park who DO care...and they monitor this board carefully for many, many reasons. There are many lessons in life...some of them include doing what is easy to keep those that have effects on your experiences happy. How hard is it to remember a ride name is The Racer? Or that concrete foundational things are called footings by most in the industry, not footers? One can get more access to lots of things by speaking the right lingo, be it in the medical field, legal field, construction industry or yes, even, the amusement industry. It's really up to you...but others will, as the radio ads say, judge you by the words you use. Fair? Perhaps not. Reality? Yes.
June 17, 200818 yr You know, my Grandmother on my mothers side came from the hills of West Virginia. She would call many, many, many things by names and words that were common but not proper term usages. And you know what, everyone understood what she was talking about. I'm very happy to say that I did not correct her usage even once in her 90+ years on the Earth. Some things are just absolutely not worth the effort.
June 17, 200818 yr Yep, some people even call The Racer the "rolley coaster." And they spend nickels in the park, too!
June 17, 200818 yr Yep, some people even call The Racer the "rolley coaster." And they spend nickels in the park, too! Exactly. Many of my friends and most of my family would have no idea what the name of a given coaster or ride is. And in the grand scheme of things.... It really does not matter as much as if they enjoy it or do not. Hense... It will Always be Backstreet Stunt Thingy to me.
June 17, 200818 yr It's not just older folk, I hate when people say The Son of Beast The T-- Flight Deck The Drop Tower The Firehawk I could go on... at least they get the name somewhat right, you know there are the ones that will say hey lets go ride the yellow one (Invertigo) or lets go ride superman (Firehawk) or lets go ride white water canyon (congo falls)
