misselaineeuss Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 These are great, thanks. It took me a LONG time to figure out SBNO. I like FLJs. Why can't we all just play by the rules? If I come across any more, I'll post them here. I think my biggest problem is the Paramount/Cedar Fair naming differences. I'll probably be much better at that after my trip. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Here's another one: ERT. Extended ride time or Exclusive Ride Time: Time to ride a coaster or ride before or after park hours, or while that ride is not otherwise available to the general public... Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I always thought "ERT" stood for "Extra Ride Time" lol but, then again I thought "POV" meant "Personal On-ride Video" Quote

Tomkatt7 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 So is it Magic Mountain, or Discovery Kingdom that was in the news relating to the 49ers? Something about building a new stadium on the property? There was a question of ownership too. Quote

Neither, that's California's Great America, formerly Paramount's Great America, Santa Clara, California, which is owned by Cedar Fair. It is on lands leased from the City of Santa Clara. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 And was originally known as Marriott`s Great America when it first opened. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 As was the one in Gurnee/Chicago. To this day, there remain remarkable resemblances between the two parks...not unlike the remaining resemblances between Kings Dominion and Kings Island. Quote
Tomkatt7 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I have friend in VA. Before I joined this site I knew NOTHING about other out of state parks. She sent me pictures of her families trip to KD. She then spent an hour trying to convince me that they didn't go to KI!!!!! We spent all evening sending pictures back and forth, comparing the 2 parks.....It was really strange seeing something that familiar, so far away, and having no idea it was there. BTW she had no idea about KI either, so it was strange for us both. Quote

Guest rcfreak339 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Yet when you search www.pki.com you still get the Kings Island homepage...weird. Quote
KIBeast Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I'm sure that they bought the rights to pki.com, that way any wayward traffic could still wind up at the KI homepage instead of somewhere else. Quote
Guest TombraiderTy Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I always thought "ERT" stood for "Extra Ride Time" lol but, then again I thought "POV" meant "Personal On-ride Video" I thought the same thing about POV! I figured out what ERT was at Beast Buzz in 2006 though. Quote
