August 10, 200818 yr Really? What about the Royal Fountain, International Street and The Eiffel Tower? Yes, the park HAS changed, but not in a wholesale way...and many of the changes are not necessarily for the better...I miss the arched bridges and the babbling water, for instance.
August 10, 200818 yr if not for the log flume and The Racer they might not recognize the place Tower, International Street (for the most part as the facades are very similar, Carousel, Monster, Shake Rattle & Roll, and on and on and on. Everything changes over time but I'd venture to say that someone that visited the park in 1972, 1982, 1992 and 2002 would certainly see the similarities.
August 10, 200818 yr Wonder what they will see in 2012!!! Nostalgia recognizing the Western Themed Area of the park?
August 10, 200818 yr oh, I was just referring to the rides they rode. It's ok.... Most of em aren't coming. <G>
August 10, 200818 yr You need to change your name to "Noclue". (Man I'm in a bad mood today.) I'm not the one that has "Noclue". There are people at KI that have "Noclue", but I'll leave it up to you to figure out which ones.
August 10, 200818 yr It is rather disturbing that in the past two conference calls, Mr. Kinzel has discussed the favorable attendance trends at the former Paramount Parks, then specifically mentioned the Washington, DC; Charlotte, Toronto and Northern California markets. It is interesting that he left out the Cincinnati and Sandusky markets. I wonder, could it be that the guests in those markets have found other parks that are less expensive to attend, and allow more fun to be had? Since both Kings Island and Cedar Point apply trim brakes to their coasters to the point that they almost valley during the ride, and have obscenely high food and drink prices, maybe people are finally taking notice. I'm certain that people sit around and say, "let's not go to Cedar Point and Kings Island because of trim breaks." <G> I think that is absolutely the only reason I've NEVER heard anyone use for going or not going to a park. You are probably right, people don't sit around and talk about trim brakes directly. Most probably don't even know what a trim brake is. The point is, people remember how much fun a coaster was. Trim brakes take away from that fun. Let us suppose that you have two identical coasters at park A and park B, but the one at park A is trimmed and park B is not. Guests will remember that they had more fun on the coaster at park B. Back to the Bradys at KI, it should be an interesting day. I look forward to it.
August 10, 200818 yr I think that probably it wasn't mentioned because, Sandusky and Cincinnati were probably the 2 markets that were already doing the best

First off, what ride at KI almost valleys because of trim brakes? Second, most people would not know nor care if two rides are exactly the same, only enthusiasts care to that extent. Most people don't even know that there is a difference in all of the Superman rides. http://www.rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=Superman So to make a public comparison is really impossible. As far as people at KI that have "Noclue", you might as well tell me because I do not know who you are talking about. I am sure they would like to know as well, so they can find another job since you say they do not have a clue.
August 11, 200818 yr Well, Daivd Cassidy was jusy in Cincy on Saturday ( http://www.unioncentreblvdbash.com ). They should have have asked the rest of the Patridge Family to come to KI on Sunday after his concert.

From what I understand he seems to have a massive issues with trim brakes and the fact they are taking over the world as we speak. Seriously there are not many coasters out there that dont have either trim brakes or a mid course brake. So if you instantly eliminate all coasters as sucking because they either have a trim or MCB then you have been on what 2 maybe 3 coasters at the max that didn't suck? So what park doesn't use trim brakes? I haven't been to one yet and I bet Ive been to a lot more than you, Beast Rider errr NoClue
August 13, 200818 yr Just wondering if any of the Mods have anymore details about what is happening on this day. I just watched a video of the press day for Diamondback and I noticed Don mentioned that "The Bradys" would be signing autographs...is that true? Will they have the Kings Island photo available to buy possibly? Any help with these answers would be appreciated so that I can start planning whether I am driving all the way from Illinois twice in one month. (I'll be at the Second Coming.)
August 13, 200818 yr So I'm wondering if they'll perform "Keep On Movin'", "Sunshine Day", or ..... -Tb, in bell bottoms.

A ton of coasters use them and not that many don't. Guess you don't get around much.
August 13, 200818 yr What is the point of trim brakes? As the roller coasters age, are they not capable of safely maintining top speeds?
August 13, 200818 yr The point is to cause less stress on the structure (referring to wood coasters). The point of them on steel is to slow the train down (sometimes to enter elements) at a reasonable, not neck breaking speed. Would you really like to go through a loop, corkscrew, batwing, boomerang loop at speeds in excess of 70mph?
August 13, 200818 yr Does The Beast run without trims at night time? I had the last train in July and it was flying. I rode the next morning and the speed wasn't near as fast. Why is that?
August 13, 200818 yr My best guess would be that it only seems faster at night. In the morning, especially close to opening time, it rides slower as it has not warmed up yet.
August 13, 200818 yr The Beast utilizes magnetic trim breaks on its circuit. They cannot be "turned off" by the control panel as they are permanent magnets (as opposed to the electromagnets which are utilized to lock the gates on rides like Drop Tower and Delirium. The only way The Beast`s trims can be modified is if maintenance physically adds or removes the magnets from the ride.

August 13, 200818 yr No prob. Glad I could help. I am thinking that I learned about trim brakes from some folks right here at KIC. That and the warming up of coasters. Who says KIC isn't educational?
August 13, 200818 yr Seek therapy for your trim brake obsession. A ton of coasters use them and not that many don't. Guess you don't get around much. But, if I did that, what would I annoy you over? I'd have to find a whole new topic, and that just would not do.
August 13, 200818 yr Oh yes!!! I am a huge Brady Bunch fan. I own the complete series on DVD and i love the show. I hopefully can make it out for this. Are you freaking kidding me? No i am not kidding you.
