RailRider Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Couple thoughts, could just be a worn spot in the ground from the trucks and heavy equipment or it could be some work being done on the concrete, possibly sawing. Concrete dust will kick up a nice could of dirt. But I think its just a worn area around the splashdown, because it doesnt look like it is covering anything else, so the "cloud" isnt rising.
Cory Butcher Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Actually, if you watch the live webcam you can tell that that cloud, is dynamic in nature and moving, as the little guy down by the splashdown track moves, the cloud moves with him. I think he is either, sawing, pressure washing, or using like a leafblower and blowing away water....not sure though.
DropZone99 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Yeah, it's probably some kind of saw dust or dirt. If you look at the webcam now, some of the splashdown track looks like it has dust or dirt all over it.
RailRider Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Yeah I see it moving, they might be cutting expansion joints in the concrete
House Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 what did they do today?? I saw no lift hill pieces yet.
fcbaseball Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 ^ check again. Looks as if there is something rising from the ground..... This is gonna be a monster of a coaster!
House Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Are you talking about that big yellow support?
jandyb79 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Couple thoughts, could just be a worn spot in the ground from the trucks and heavy equipment or it could be some work being done on the concrete, possibly sawing. That is concrete dust. I drove through Rivertown today while cleaning up the storm debris and saw the worker kicking up dust from sawing. I joked with my coworker that the worker was relocating the splashdown in order for the last piece of track to fit. ~Josh
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Well they're up and at it, looks like they are about to install another one:
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I have been wondering something for a few days. What are those metal pieces in the bottom of the screen, I think they might be brake shed pieces? Quick Edit to Answer FoF1996's Question: No, that is the second tallest one, the tallest one actually goes right up along the path. You know the Huge Footing with the Flower Pot on it just outside the Old Time Photo Building? That's for the tallest support.
RailRider Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 ^ They could be any number of things. Most likely from where they sit they go to the transfer track building. Could be used for catwalks, electrical componets, like breakers pannels and conduit. They could be any number of things, but eventually they will be put up. Just wait.
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 The Entry into the Lift next? It's hard to tell what that dark red thing is:
kjkjkj Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 it almost looks as if they're painting the splashdown track white?....
kjkjkj Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I'm not so sure it's just the light. I doubt they are painting it, but they may be cutting something causing that cloud of dust, to "coat" the track with that dust, making it appear white.
RailRider Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Like I said last page and was confirmed they are cutting the concrete. They are probably cutting expansion joints in the concrete, so it is less likely to crack or atleast they can control where the cracks form.
thomas Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Check the webcam, we have lift hill track installed!
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 ^He Speaks the Truth: That took about 1 and a half hours to put that up, do you think any more pieces will be put up?
thomas Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I hope they plan on moving this cam up some so that we can see more of the hill because not much more is going to be going on in this area.
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 ^They slightly moved one of the positions down a bit so we can see the huge new support and the first drop supports, so they may move it.
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 In case anyone is wondering, they havn't installed any other supports besides the big one:
House Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 http://30.37.211.240:15871/cgi-bin/blockpa...sion=4150170086 @#@#@ firewall at work blocks everything!
Beast1979 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 It looks like they are getting ready to get some serious Lift-Hillage done!
